Indian Parliamentary constituencies (current or defunct) should have a uniform suffix of "Lok Sabha constituency", whether or not this is required for disambiguation.
Indian Legislative Assembly constituencies (current or defunct) should have a uniform suffix of "Assembly constituency", whether or not this is required for disambiguation.
Handling duplicate names
[edit]- Duplicate names should be disambiguated using "Place, state" followed by the applicable suffix.
- If two identically-named constituencies are in same state then use "Place, district" followed by the applicable suffix.
- If two constituencies have same name and one of them is defunct, then the defunct constituency should use "Place, State" followed by the applicable suffix. The currently active constituency can be considered the primary topic and can use "Place" followed by the applicable suffix.
Examples
[edit]- Sujanpur (Himachal Pradesh Assembly constituency) (disambiguation necessary, entry in Sujanpur (disambiguation)). Should be named Sujanpur, Himachal Pradesh Assembly constituency vs Sujanpur, Punjab Assembly constituency
- Mahuva, Surat Assembly constituency vs Mahuva, Bhavnagar Assembly constituency
- Rajgarh, Rajasthan Assembly constituency (defunct) vs Rajgarh Assembly constituency Active in MP
