[edit]IPv6 transition mechanisms
[edit]I try, without success, to update the common "IPv6 transition mechanisms" frame found at the upper right corner of several pages ("IPv6 rapid deployment", "IPv4 Residual Deployment", etc.) In this list, he "4rd" reference has to be moved from "Drafts" to "Experimental". Blank maps
[edit]I need a blank map of Great Britain for a project I am doing. I want to draw in the regions on the map (I have the appropriate software) during the Rule of the Major-Generals (I have sources). Which is the best one to use and where can I find it?

- I can't find a good blank map of Great Britain. But I see that Rule of the Major-Generals refers only to England and Wales. Would File:England and Wales.svg or File:England and Wales Historic Counties HCT map.svg do? Maproom (talk) 13:33, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

- Thank you. Actually Ireland and Scotland were already under English military rule, so the English were only imposing on themselves what they had already imposed on Ireland and Scotland. - If you are closely related to the subject of another article, it would probably be good to mention the relationship in each article. But it would be best not to add it yourself, as you have a conflict of interest. Ideally, you should mention the relationship on the talk page of one of the articles (or here, as those talk pages may not have many readers), so that an independent editor can add the mentions. If possible, you should supply a reference, such as to a newspaper article that mentions the relationship. Maproom (talk) 17:23, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Wrong information on a Pharmaceutical Page

- Thank you for pointing this out. I can find no evidence that it produces vaccines. I have deleted both mentions of them from the article. Maproom (talk) 13:28, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
How to merge articles' wikilinks
[edit]I was reading Zagora, Morocco and wanted to look at the French article on the same town, since Morocco has a lot of connections to France and there might be more information in that language. When I clicked the link to the French (Français) version, though, I was taken to a French user page. Meanwhile, the French Wiki article that actually covers the town is fr:Zagora (Maroc). When I tried to save my edit to replace the link to the user page with a link to the correct French article, though, I got this error message: "The link frwiki:Zagora (Maroc) is already used by item (Q20669964). You may remove it from (Q20669964) if it does not belong there or merge the items if they are about the exact same topic." How would I go about merging these items, or is there a better way to fix this link? Thanks in advance. Marco polo (talk) 13:45, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Retail business page

I've posted an article about a company but I need to understand how to add the panel on the righ hand side with website info etc.. Also, does the page need to be in a category?

- You have not "posted an article". You have used your user page to write about a company. What you have written would not be accepted as an article: for one thing, it completely lacks references to establish that the company is notable enough to have an article. So adding what we call an "infobox" to it would not be relevant. And you should not try to add it to a category. Maproom (talk) 17:16, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Adding a "notable person" to a City/States Wikipedia page
[edit]Hello. I created an account and began adding to "Notable People" in the Shawnee, Oklahoma Wiki page. I added the following: Ron Sharp, United States Senator 2012-2016

- EmilyCRose The edit you just made to this helpdesk is the only edit registered to your username. I see that there have been some attempts to edit Shawnee, Oklahoma recently but most were vandalism and none of the recent edits involved Ron Sharp.--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:07, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

- @EmilyCRose: We cannot say what went wrong without seeing your code but as said above, lists of notable people are generally only for people with Wikipedia articles. It's highly unlikely there wouldn't be an article about a current United States Senator but Ron Sharp is only in the Oklahoma Senate.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 22:56, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

External in-line link
[edit]Kwak'wala § Orthography mentions the U'mista Cultural Society in a fairly significant role. As an organization dedicated to "the survival of all aspects of the cultural heritage of the Kwakwaka'wakw" nation, they promote the use of an orthography for the Kwak'wala language. The mention is redlinked, but the Society has a website of its own.
It seems to me that any referent worth an in-line wikilink is worth an in-line external link if that's all that's available. I have added one in the text (as well as the External links section). Wikipedia:External links seems to disallow or discourage such links, with exceptions and modifications, but I cannot easily tell from it what policy it urges for this case. Advice, please! - @Thnidu: This is indeed against our practices. If you really think the website is important to readers of that paragraph who don't look in the external links section then try to work in an inline reference so the reader only has to click the reference number to reach a link in the references section. - @Thnidu: An article may be created later. And I think it would be a spam invitation to tell people to make external links in the body at mentioned subjects without an article. We get enough spam in external links sections where it's at least easy to spot and clean up. WP:REDDEAL says that an interlanguage link can be added if another Wikipedia language has an article.
