The GOCE Copy Edit of the Month was a monthly contest that began in August 2012 and concluded in November 2013. The contest archives are located here.
Every month, all editors will be allowed to submit a single article into the contest. No advance signup is required. Simply add your work if and when you complete it. Note, however, that all submissions must be from copy editing that occurred during the month of the contest. Only one article will be permitted per editor, but the submission can be changed up until 11:59 UTC of the last day of the month. During the subsequent month, editors will be able to vote on which of the submitted articles has the best copy edit, on whatever basis they choose to judge. This can include such factors as difficulty, how interesting the subject matter is, amusing mistakes corrected, or anything else. Votes can be changed as much as desired, up until 11:59 UTC of the last day of the month. The goal of this contest is to get members of the guild to work on more challenging copy edits, and for members to be able to share their work for informal review and comment. The articles submitted do not need to have a {{copy edit}} tag or be from the requests page to qualify. Any of our four million articles can be submitted if you think the work done is good.
The person with the most votes for their submission will receive the GOCE Gold Star Award. | The person with the second highest vote total will receive the GOCE Silver Star Award. |
