Original – Like the gaping mouth of a gigantic celestial creature, the cometary globule CG 4 glows menacingly in this image from ESO’s Very Large Telescope. Although it looks huge and bright in this image it is actually a faint nebula and not easy to observe.

@Janke: But for space FPs, the bigger it is, the better it will be. It is what I have learnt from Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/File:Needle Galaxy 4565.jpeg and seen in File:Carina Nebula by ESO.jpg and File:NGC 2467 and Surroundings.jpg as well as in the Great Spider. Those grains are diffraction spikes (IMO) which are inevitable in space pics.  - T H (here I am) 14:35, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
