This is a request for comment (RFC) on the use of official photographs of Canadian government officials for which the copyrights are held by the Canadian government. This RFC aims to gather community opinion on the use of these images in biographical articles, and to generate a consensus about whether current usage is acceptable, and if not, what ought to be changed in order to make the use of such images acceptable.
As of October 2006 a great many of these images were marked for deletion. This was done en masse, making it impractical to discuss the issue on a single talk page. It is therefore appropriate that the issue be discussed here.
