Wikipedia:Meetup/Bay Area WikiSalon August 2016
Bay Area WikiSalon series | ||
---|---|---|
Periodically, on a last Wednesday evening of the month, wiki and open-source enthusiasts meet up to mingle, munch, collaborate or learn about new projects and ideas. At each WikiSalon we plan a brief formal presentation; some will help orient people new to the wiki/open-source world, with others geared to more experienced people. Many presentations will have broad appeal to non-wiki/non-open-source folks. We hope you will join us! Note: We are extremely inclusive – broadly construed – plus we adhere to the friendly place policies of the Wikimedia Foundation.

For our August Bay Area WikiSalon, we returned to the Wikimedia Foundation offices.
Marta Belcher, a recent graduate of Stanford Law School, former Electronic Frontier Foundation intern and current employee of Ropes & Gray, told us about crowdsourcing her Stanford Law School graduation speech using a wiki. More than half of her classmates contributed to writing and editing the 2015 commencement address. She took questions after her presentation.

Stephen LaPorte announced the upcoming Wiki Loves Monuments photo competition, which will run throughout September 2016, and encouraged those interested to follow up with him.
