Wikipedia:AfroCuration 2023 edit-a-thon
The AfroCuration is a campaign that seeks to encourage Africans to celebrate their culture, share their stories and experiences through Wikipedia to inspire others to be proud of their African heritage.
Background
[edit]Established in 2019, the Afrocuration Campaign is a collaboration between Moleskine Foundation, Wikimedia ZA and Constitution Hill Trust to create a platform for the celebration of African culture and heritage. The campaign seeks to document and curate the diverse stories, artifacts, and history of South Africa on Wikipedia by providing access to materials from Constitution Hill Trust and other African cultural institutions. Additionally, Afrocuration promotes the use of African languages in digital spaces to teachers and students. Through this campaign, Moleskine Foundation, Wikimedia ZA and Constitution Hill Trust aim to increase public and online access to African culture and heritage.
