Venus Isabelle Palermo[2] better known as Venus Angelic, is a Swiss YouTuber and social media influencer.[3][4] She became known as the "living doll" after her YouTube video "How to look like a doll" became popular in March 2012.[3]

Career

[edit]

Venus has done several television interviews talking about the "Dolly Style" trend, a makeup and clothing style that she helped popularize on YouTube. She appeared on TV, as herself, in an episode of the reality TV show My Strange Addiction.[5]

Personal life

[edit]

In December 2014, Palermo started a romantic relationship with Japanese national Manaki Okada. They married in December 2015, and Palermo subsequently emigrated to Japan in February 2016.[6]

In May 2016, Palermo travelled to the Republic of Korea, where she underwent weight loss surgery, despite only weighing 53 kg (117 lb) at the time of the procedure. Palermo claims she contacted over 50 doctors around the world until she found one willing to proceed with the surgery. After the surgery, she was left with injuries in the stomach and was admitted to hospital, being treated with stomach medication and an IV drip.[7]

In April of 2024, Venus announced via her social media that she was experiencing lack of stable housing due to her struggles with her mental health and alcoholism.[8][9] In October of that same year, she caused online outrage after losing access to most of her social media accounts, and harassing her former friends on X (Twitter) in a series of racist tweets.[10][11]
