DYK for Maryamin
[edit]On 3 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Maryamin, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the fourth-century Byzantine mosaic discovered in Maryamin, in central Syria, is one of the few artifacts that give an indication on how the organ instrument was used in antiquity? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Maryamin. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Editor Review
[edit]I am currently cleaning up the backlog over at Editor Review and I found this in the backlog. As it is no longer posted on the main page at Editor Review, I was wondering if I should remove it from the backlogs and put it to rest or if I should repost it for community review. I will remove it from the backlogs three days from now if I am not given a response.—cyberpower OfflineHappy 2013 01:14, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

HighBeam
[edit]Hey, sorry to be the bearer of bad news... Though your application was perfect and your account fully approved, we ran out of access codes 7 short of the total who signed up in round 6. I've gone ahead and moved you to the top of the list for round 7. If and as soon as we are given access to more accounts, you will be first to receive it. If you need help accessing sources, WikiProject Resource Exchange is a great place to go, or for HighBeam specifically, you might try asking one of the other 1000 editors who have HighBeam access this year. Again, I'm sorry, and I'll keep pushing for more access to these valuable resources. Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 18:22, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Notification of discussion
[edit]A few months ago, you participated in a discussion on Wikipedia talk:Did you know about Gibraltar-related DYKs on the Main Page. I am proposing that the temporary restrictions on such DYKs, which were imposed in September 2012, should be lifted and have set out a case for doing so at Wikipedia talk:Did you know/Gibraltar-related DYKs. If you have a view on this, please comment at that page. Prioryman (talk) 21:58, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Religions in Infobox
[edit]Salam Yazan. I probably should have discussed this first, but I added the predominant religions of a locality in the Infobox: i.e. Aqrab Religions: Sunni Muslim, Alawite. Do you think this is an unnecessary field to have in the infobox? Let me know. If so I'll just remove that parameter. Thanks --Al Ameer son (talk) 18:21, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
Damascus Districts and etc.
[edit]Thank you Yazan, and no worries. Just make sure you don't stay away too long ;) Your info actually helps a lot and I think we have a good idea on how the administrative divisions of the city work now. I left Tradedia a comment on his talk page. On another note, I think I'm going to begin wide-scale expansion of Bosra. There's a lot of info on its history through the ages and its more modern situations, not least in Batatu's book (thanks again for that). If you're interested and not too busy with real life, feel free to join. If not, I look forward to working together soon. Salamat akh, --Al Ameer son (talk) 07:22, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- I just scrolled through the book, there's huge amounts of information there indeed. Thanks a lot man ;) And I'll send you some book requests as we go. One I've been trying to look for is Urban Life in Syria Under the Early Mamluks by Nicola Ziadeh, but it's apparently a pretty rare piece. Maybe Questia will have it. I currently have the book The Ottomans in Syria: A History of Justice and Oppression which I'll try to scan and add to the dropbox. Lot's of info on Ottoman-era leaders, families, tribes, etc. particularly relating to Hama, Damascus, Maarrat al-Nu'man, Acre and to a lesser extent on the smaller towns of the Hama/Homs region. As for religions in the infobox parameters, I'll begin removing them. Wasn't really comfortable adding them in the first place since it makes it appear as if it's the official religion of the locality and doesn't take into consideration the secular residents, in addition to the fact that whole villages and towns have been emptied out during these trying times. --Al Ameer son (talk) 19:27, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Great Syrian Revolt
[edit]Ahlan Yazan, I added a good source of info on the Great Syrian Revolt to the dropbox, let me know if you got it. My random attention has drifted towards that subject area lately (the details of which have more than a few parallels with the present-day revolt/war). I started Hasan al-Kharrat and was hoping you could add the Arabic translation when you have time. I have an image of the man from syrianhistory.com, but I'm going to crop it up a bit for use. I plan to nominate the article in a day or two. Salam, --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:52, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hey Zozo2kx :). I'm dropping you a note because you have signed up for the Notifications, or Echo, newsletter.
If all goes according to plan, we should be launching Echo on en-wiki either tomorrow, or next Tuesday - I'll drop a followup tomorrow when we know what's happening. Should the launch succeed, we'll begin the process of triaging bugs and gathering feedback on what features work, what cause problems, and what we should do next; I hope you'll help us out on these fronts by leaving any comments you might have on the talkpage.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Syriatel logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Syriatel logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 14:37, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
