Actually, I'm not sure. Perhaps some sheets are older. The reason I asked is that amudanan does not show the curved section of road below the hotel on the upper slope of the Mount of Olives. Sorry I haven't been very clear. Here are identical portions of Google maps and Amudanan. The building in the middle is the 7 Arches Hotel on the top of the Mount of Olives. The road I indicated with a purple arrow on the Google map is not present on the Amudanan map. I'm wondering when it was made. I'm curious about when that road was made. It was not there in 1946 (I have an extremely detailed map). It's hard to imagine Israel making it as it would have cut across hundreds of graves. But if Jordan made it, why doesn't Amudanan show it after 45 years? Some sources talk about an access road that Jordan built to the hotel, but this road doesn't seem to give access to anything. File:MtOlives1968.jpg is from a 1968 map by the Survey of Israel. I also have another one that is essentially identical except that the text is Hebrew. You can see that some sort of trail is marked using dotted and thin solid lines, neither of which is identified in the map legend. It's hard to believe this is a road, let alone a paved road, since they have their own designated appearances. But there might be some explanation. I'll try finding someone official to ask. Holyland (neighborhood)

You recently changed (neighborhood) to (residential complex) in the "WikiProject Israel - to do list". True, the complex (monstrosity) that we all know and love (or hate, mostly hate) as "Holyland" comprises the overwhelming majority of the Holyland neighborhood. But there is more to the neighborhood - residences totally unconnected to the complex. Neighborhood signs have been posted by the Jerusalem Municipality. Hebrew help needed!

Howzit! I've added the Yavne West, Ashkelon-Beersheba, Jerusalem High-speed, Karmiel, and Jezreel Valley lines. However there is one more line shown here that I need to add: the Sharon line. Using google satellite images I can make a very good approximation, however could you see if you can get me a real map (most likely on the ministry of transport's website)? Israeli legislative elections

Hi! A couple of things I thought I should bring to your attention. There seems to be a discrepancy between the infobox and the results table as to the number of seats Jewish Home had in the outgoing Knesset. As you are probably aware, while National Union and Jewish Home together received 7 seats last election, two are serving as National Union, two as Otzma LeIsrael and three as Jewish Home.

Secondly, as the media is starting to report, current figures show Jewish Home winning a 12th seat, whereas Ra'am will be reduced to four. Guy0307 (talk) 09:28, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

MK infobox

I think it may be time for some changes to this to make it a bit more reader friendly. I've separated the party and ministerial sections and allowed entry of years. You can see how it would look here. What do you think? Any other suggestions? Number 57 22:09, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Cool. I built in the capacity for about 10 parties and perhaps more ministerial roles. If it isn't enough I'll add some more lines to the code. At some point in the next week I may make the change to the proper template then roll it out to all the MK articles using AWB or something.

Actually, there are still two Jewish Home members to do, but otherwise they're all there now. But yes, I'm up for collaborating. Many of them have quite detailed Hebrew articles, but I didn't go into that much detail with translating them. I'm also hoping that the Knesset website gets updated fairly soon so we'll have some more solid info on them. Let me know about focussing on any you're interested in. Sorry for not getting back to you. Yes, please ask Wikimedia Israel's GLAM representative for help (or pointers!). Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Israel so cannot do the research myself. I wasn't intending to ask anyone there to do in-depth research for me; I was hoping that if someone had two or so minutes to spare that they could check any archive indexes or periodical indexes at hand. Or perhaps even do a www.google.co.il search for me. Perhaps there are even hidden online resources your wikipedia colleagues may know of that I can access. Not practical as I don't speak or write the language. Actually, now that I think about it how does one go about nominating a page on the English wikipedia for inclusion on the Hebrew wikipedia? The article certainly has relevant Jewish value and so warrants inclusion there; further, the director's filmography here needs updating. (I hope I hyperlinked the right page.) The advantage here is that someone in Israel may see the documentary page on the Hebrew wikipedia and add information which, thanks to google's free online translation service, I can keep an eye on. Perhaps you also know of Israel-based film buffs who contribute to the English and Hebrew wikipedia who can do the documentary article translation. Infoboxes Israeli settlements

Hi Ynhockey. You have reverted my changes of infoboxes in articles about Israeli settlements in the West Bank. I gave the reason for my changes on the talk page Talk:Israeli settlement#Wrong infobox in several articles of settlements which I forgot to mention in the summary. The reason is, that the Template:Infobox Israel municipality shows the heading "Municipality of Israel", as I have noticed only a few days ago. We do not have to argue about wether Israeli settlements, regardless of there being local councils, citys or not are "Municipalities of Israel" – they aren't. As I'm not good at template syntax, I leave it to you to change either the "Infobox Israel municipality" or the "Infobox Israel village" or create a new one, but for the time being, the "Infobox Israel village" ist imo just fine, so please don't revert. Ministry articles

Hello Yan. Yes, it was deliberate. The main issue was the colouring, which I felt was unnecessary extra coding, but also WP:OR - I haven't changed this one yet, but how was it decided that the General Zionists were light blue, or that Yisrael BaAliyah were green (and purple for Kadima?). I also felt the numbering was rather a distraction (as it's often not 1, 2, 3 etc, but 1, 2, 3, 2, 3). Generally I thought the new format contained too much unnecessary coding. Thoughts? Jerusalem Light Rail

Hello Yan,

Although the "Birushalayim" version was mine, I saw the recent edit that had changed it to "BiYrushalayim" and did not revert it. There are two reasons for that: a) this version has one letter (the Y) that can be capitalized; b) Israeli radio announcers sometimes do pronounce "full khirik" as "iy" in such words as "liyladim" (to children) or "birushalayim" (in Jerusalem). Precision of Coordinates

Hi, at Zemer you changed 32:22:1/35:2:7 back to 32:22:1.28/35:2:7.05. The distance between those two locations is approximately 8.8 meters, which has no meaning in a place the size of a town and even smaller than the building you were aiming at. Moreover, giving two decimal places gives a false impression of accuracy. Even if there was some particular spot in the town (of a few tens of centimeters in size) whose coordinates should be given, and you went there with a normal GPS device, you would not be able to get that degree of precision. Google maps is not that accurate, no matter how many digits it provides to you; you can see the pointer moves by about 300m between these two locations. You can also check at Amudanan using the WGS84 coordinate system: the difference between 32:22:1/35:2:7 and 32:22:1.28/35:2:7.05 is about one screen pixel at the highest magnification and both are about 20-30m south of where Google says it is. Regarding nomenclature and the current RfC on WP:LQ

Regarding your comment on the RfC about whether WP:LQ should be kept, modified or removed, I notice that you say "It's called 'logical' for a reason" but reject the terms "American" and "British." Yes, British style is also called logical style, but the sources are divided almost exclusively along national lines. American style guides say to tuck periods and commas inside the quotation marks. In a recent search for sources [4], we were only able to find one U.S. style guide that did not require American punctuation, the style guide of the American Chemical Society, and it discusses the writing of papers that contain large numbers of non-alphanumeric characters, which is not an issue on Wikipedia.

The case has been made that British English may permit either British/L or American punctuation, as it does with -ize or -ise spelling, but American English does not.

I understand that this may not change your mind, and you have every right to prefer British style to American, but your decision should not be based on any misconceptions. There is indeed a national split on this issue and American English does require American punctuation. But you don't have to take my word for it. Darkfrog24 (talk) 20:57, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

The larger issue is that the current GA page dealing with "Irenaean Theodicy" limits its discussion only to "soul-searching" and none of the realistic problems of human suffering from the real world. My thought is that by including a discussion of the Holocaust in this article, then the GA article might be made into an FA article by covering a real example of suffering, the Holocaust, which is of such import to many people still living in Israel today. Lebanon-Golan border

Hi, Please look at http://amudanan.co.il/?lon=35.668831&lat=33.286629 and note the point marked "786" in the center of the map. As shown it is about 300m north of the border. However, Google Maps at https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=33.286629,35.668831&q=loc:33.286629,35.668831 shows the border with a sort of bulge that passes through that point. Thanks. I think you are right, courtesy of Wikileaks. This 2006 cable gives UTM 748688/685928 as being "44 meters north of the border". Amudanan has UTM as an option, and as far as I can tell this position is exactly on the border marked there, directly south of Qal'at Bustra. Also the UNIFIL deployment map shows a base "Bastra" in that area though I can't tell if it is actually at Qal'at Bustra. Zero^talk 11:51, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

The current UNIFIL deployment map perfectly matches the border shown at Amudanan. It appears Israel withdrew to the international border in this region in 2006. Maybe (guessing) Google still reflects the situation before then. Zero^talk 12:22, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
