Additional tips
[edit]Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!
- I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
- If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.
- P.S. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need help with anything or simply wish to say hello. :)
Happy Wiki-ing.
[edit]Welcome (again) Rabbi Dr. Woolf
[edit]Allow me the liberty to add a more personal welcome to the colorful form-welcome located above. Assuming that you are indeed Rabbi Dr. Jeffrey Woolf, I am familiar with your work and your publications (not to mention your blog). I see from your contributions that you are still feeling your way around here in Wikipedia and I urge you to continue your participation here. We cannot afford to lose an editor with such a vast repository of knowledge (in your specialty areas and beyond) such as yourself. In particular, you may be interested in checking out WikiProject Judaism, a group of editors who are dedicated to the standardization and perfection of articles related to Judaism and halakha. If you have any questions, please visit my talk page. Kol tuv, DLandTALK 21:04, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Jacob Katz
[edit]I have posted in response to your comment at Talk:Haym Soloveitchik. Also, perhaps you could create an article on Jacob Katz - I am surprised that such an article does not yet exist, and you would probably be able to give it a good jumpstart. Kol tuv, DLandTALK 21:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Twersky.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Twersky.jpg. The copy called Image:Twersky.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 09:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Twersky.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Twersky.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:28, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
