Speedy deletion contested: Talespinner Children's Theatre
[edit]Thank you for your interest in this page. I am contesting the speedy deletion of this page on the grounds that TCT is a three year-old, 501(c)(3) performing arts company in a large metropolitan area which has in its brief history generated significant, unique work. Since your original deletion post, I have contributed more to the page in an effort to bring it up to standards, and will receive and appreciate any further criticism. About Pursuit of Happiness
[edit]They are not the same movie. Pursuit of Happiness (2001 film) should be more like this, not the 2006 Will Smith movie. So the page needs to be rewritten or deleted (due to low notability).

Speedy deletion declined: Stockholm Academic Forum

Hello Whispering, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Jas Binag, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article makes a claim as to the significance of the subject, so is ineligible for speedy deletion. Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
[edit]Hello Whispering. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Whispering,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Simon Reich
[edit]What exactly is wrong with the edits made for Simon Reich's page? I spent a good hour updating his information, including updating his publication list because the old one was about ten years old, adding references for information requested by Wikipedia, and updating his biography which was last edited a year ago. There is no reason to reduce the information so that what's left is outdated. And for the record I didn't remove any sources, I only rearranged them with expanded content and added more sources. The list of past jobs was already there, I just modified the format. Waiting for two days to hear from you and if I don't I'll be reverting your changes and reporting you for senseless edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Globalhumanist (talk • contribs) 18:42, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

- Hello, just a few things that you might want to consider. First off it's considered bad form to write articles in user space unless you are doing it in a Sandbox or Draft space. Also, writing about yourself is also considered a Conflict of Interest and generally discouraged. If you are a public figure I would suggest going to the Wikipedia Project page of your particular country/location and asking someone write an article about you. AfC
[edit]Hi Whispering,
Your account has been added to the list at AfC Participants allowing you to review drafts with the tools and mark them as accepted or rejected. Please be sure to read the Reviewing Instructions. Because the work is similar, you should also be familiar the tutorial for New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at Reviewer Help.
- Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible. The list of submissions waiting for review is at Submissions
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to review each draft, there is no rush.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove your name from the listat any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:58, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello! I am requesting that the drafted Hurricane Jose article be re-reviewed as there is a clear consensus on the Atlantic hurricane season, 2017 talk page that Jose should have a standalone article split off from the seasonal article of which Hurricane Jose (2017) currently redirects to. BrendonTheWizard (talk) 00:06, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- I'm going to respectfully decline until the hurricane makes some sort of landfall. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball for all we know it could just suddenly start heading further into the Atlantic Ocean. Whispering 00:22, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry to say this as I mean it only in the most straightforward, literal, and unoffensive way but that decision was ill-informed because your criteria already happened. As can be found on nhc.noaa.gov, while Barbuda thankfully escaped the worst of the storm, it did receive tropical-storm-force winds, but as media reports have said there wasn't very much left to destroy. BrendonTheWizard (talk) 01:57, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- Now that you've pretty much insulted my intelligence I'm not inclined to do anything. Whispering 02:33, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- It isn't an insult to intelligence by any means, it's only a clarification that the criteria you established has been met. I explicitly mentioned that I don't mean to insult you in any way and I still have no intention of insulting you, it was a continuation of why this request was made in the first place: by Wikipedia's precedents, this is warranted by all established guidelines and supported by members of the project. Even Russian, French, and Uzbek Wikipedia have this article; keeping it from publication on English Wikipedia is without justification. You said that you decline until it makes some sort of landfall in compliance with WP:CRYSTAL and that is exactly what happened. Please respond out of respect for Wikipedia policy and principle if not out of any obligation or inclination. BrendonTheWizard (talk) 03:29, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- Again I'm going to respectfully decline. This whole thing has soured me to the point that I don't think I could be objective towards the article anymore. For further assistance please go to the AFC Help desk. Thank you. Whispering 19:09, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Brick & Portal Constructive Feedback
[edit]Hi Whispering!
I recently made the Brick & Portal page that I'm currently re-editing and I was wondering what exactly I would need to do to really make this page stand up. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia and copyediting articles but it's something that I've found a lot of enjoyment out of and I'd like to get better.
In your feedback it said to leave more relevant articles. Is there a certain way that I'm citing them that makes them non-viable?
Thanks for any feedback! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hiphoptissuebox (talk • contribs) 15:45, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I had written a draft of an article on Window Nation and it was flagged for copyright infringement for too closely paraphrasing a cited source article: http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-bz-interview-harley-aaron-magden-20110904-story.html
I have read the article on close paraphrasing at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Close_paraphrasing and I believe I have revised the content substantially enough to resubmit the article for review. Before I do so, I was hoping you would be willing to take a look at my revision and confirm that I have revised the piece to avoid copyright infringement.
My revision: Co-Founders of Window Nation, Harley and Aaron Magden, have worked in the window industry since they were young. Their father owned Regency Window Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, and the brothers decided to start their own company when their father sold Regency. Since the brothers had a non-compete agreement with their father’s former business, they moved to the Baltimore area to open Window Nation.
Many thanks,

Nevermind. You showed my point: wikipedia is useless and an information manipulator.
I wonder why a very UNIMPORTANT people like Pietro Taricone worth a mention in wikipedia and a yound italian girl 13 yrs old killed by partisans for revenge does not. I am NOT going to use wikipedia (never than ever giving money to it) and as a writer and journalist I am going to reccomend NOT to fund and use it.

NFL owner personal net worth
[edit]So you cited wikipedia not being a place for indiscriminate information as the reason for rejecting my page. I'm not sure how it is just a bunch of indiscriminate information. It's not like its just a bunch of random information thrown together to create a page. It is information on only one area, net worth. If this page is not accepted because of the reasons you cited, why exactly is there a page solely dedicated to listing the net worth of every US president. It is literally the same exact thing, same subject, same information. What exactly is the difference between that article and mine?Zdawg1029 (talk) 20:48, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for your message.
I actually am responsible for the text on imdb, - as I am a contributor on that site. I created the entire page and credits on imdb for this person. The text therefore is eligible for use on your site as well, there is no copyright.
Dopenguins (talk) 05:57, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- The problem with submitting something to IMDB is as soon as you submit the page it becomes property of IMDB and thus falls under their copyright. To claim copyright for yourself you would have to host it yourself claim that it's not under copyright and fill out the appropriate forms provided by Wikipedia. However if you did that it would fall under the onus of original research and still be rejected. So, your best bet to get your article accepted is to find reliable sources to cite. Regarding decline of Epi proColon - Methylated Septin 9 Wikipedia page.
Please provide specific reasons for the decline. There are at least 3 other similar diagnostic tests that have an entry. Using the basis of these, the Epi proColon page was created. All of these are one-of-a-kind diagnostic tests that are commercially available. Please refer below:
Allomap - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AlloMap_molecular_expression_testing Oncotype Dx - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oncotype_DX Cologuard - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multitarget_stool_DNA_screening_test
The article is well research, cited, and backed by science. The importance to the Wiki community is the knowledge that this science is commercially available and backed by peer-reviewed published articles that have gone through an FDA-approved submission.
Upon internal review - the Epi proColon page provides no more 'advertisement' that the 3 referenced (above) pages. The inclusion of these 3 pages establishes precedent that these type of one-of-a-kind diagnostic tests pages are acceptable within the Wikipedia community.
If there is a specific section or statement is considered advertisement, please indicate those..
Reconsider your 'Decline'.
- Quite possibly but those weren't up for AfC. And they don't have ® scattered all over the page. So, no I won't reconsider it for a decline at this time until it gets a good copy edit. Whispering 20:49, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Article on Data extraction tool I use-Deletion
[edit]Hello,
I recently wrote a generic article about a data extraction tool I use called Mozenda. I believe it was marked to be deleted for not having good references. I am not aware of any references other than blogs and reviews on the tool itself. There are also a lot of vidoes on youtube of people doing demos on the product. Would none of those work as references? I looked over other software companies pages and it seems that their references are all review articles as well. Thank you for your help!

Incorrect reason for declining the article submission Hi, the reason for declining the submission was given as follows "Thank you for your submission, but the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Heyward-Washington House instead." That is incorrect! These are two separate houses. The Heyward-Washington House is located at 87 Church St. in Charleston and The Thomas Heyward Jr. House is located at 18 Meeting St. in Charleston. Thomas Heyward Jr., a SC signer of The Declaration of Independence, moved to the 18 Meeting St. house after living at the 87 Church St. house earlier in his life. The Thomas Heyward Jr. House at 18 Meeting St. is one of the most recognizable and prominent historical homes in Charleston and is distinct and separate from the Heyward- Washington House. Thanks!

Hi Wispering, you declined my article about Dr. Todor Mitrović because of 'lack of notability'. Dr. Mitrović is one of the few outstanding practical and theoretical (scientific) experts in modern Orthodox iconography. Should you think he's only of local prominence, consider that he's member of international councils, at least one of his books is translated into two languages other than Serbian; and please read the interview in the Orthodox Arts Journal. Exhibtions in Bulgaria, Romania, Great Britain, France, Greece, Germany ain't that bad, I think.
There is a saying 'You have to play your own trumpet' but I think not only those making a noise are notable.
But of course I am open to learn about notability.
DeeJoe (talk) 00:46, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
- That he might be the problem is we don't have any reliable sources to back up the claims that he is who you say he is. Your sources in the article as they are right now consist of a Wordpress site a primary source, a listing, a listing, and another primary source. Like the box a the top of the draft states "Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject." Ergo, he might be notable but we have no way of knowing that at this point. Whispering 00:59, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:XML_Summer_School
In my WolfgangSchi/Sandbox I wrote an article on "XML Summer School" which I did submit for review last week. It was rejected on the basis of a copyright violation which in my opinion is defitely not true.
The web site of this XML conference has an "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)" licence as you may see here: http://xmlsummerschool.com/about-this-site/. Writing about such a conference implies that I had to use explicit quotes from the web site or articles on the event which are marked and each has an explicit reference. I did my utmost to preserve an objective style of writing with no personal overtones or evaluation. For each statement, I have explicitly given the references where I took that information from. I think, you can't avoid when you are describing such a topic that your statements have some linguistic relationship to your sources - this doesn't imply a simple copy and paste or a paraphrase, but the use of certain words or a strain of thought.
Could you perhaps assist me to overcome any issue so that this article will be published and the time I invested to write it would not be in vain?
Many thanks in advance! WolfgangSchi (talk) 11:46, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Notability of Lil Pump Draft
[edit]Artist Lil Pump recently released an album so I felt like creating a page for him because his single Gucci Gang had entered the mainstream (46# on the Billboard 100.) I found a draft that had been rejected recently by you, can I ask why before I begin editing this page to a more acceptable standard. Gucci Gang peaked at #46 on the Billboard 100 and if I can recall correctly, WP:MUS criteria says "Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria." and #2 is "has had a single or album on any country's national music chart" (which Lil Pump has had) I'm really just asking why you rejected the article before I start making edits to it, thank you! Use duplicate only if both in submitted state
[edit]Thanks for your work on the backlog at AfC. I'm reverting your decline of User:Ayirp Sharma/sandbox because, although there is another draft on the topic (Draft:Rajendra Kumar Sharma), it wasn't waiting to be reviewed at the time, so being a duplicate isn't a good reason to decline. The editor apparently abandoned the first draft and started over in their sandbox, which is permissable as long as doing so doesn't break any attribution of authorship. I'll bash it into better shape, but it will likely still be declined, as it needs a lot of work. This way the author will get some feedback regarding what needs improvement, though, rather than just being sent to the back of the line. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:39, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Hi there. I see that Lil Pump has quite the history of non-notability. That being said, he is Billboard's #1 emerging artist this week, which may tip the scale, per WP:MUSICBIO. This 17 year-old is certainly able to put together some uplifting lyrics, and will likely become another great role model for our youth. I'm not sure how a draft article works. Do I add to it and resubmit? Cheers! Magnolia677 (talk) 20:37, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Note to Magnolia677 from a talk-page stalker: If one drills through WP:MUSICBIO to WP:USCHARTS (the list of US charts that have any credibility, notability-wise) Emerging Artists doesn't make the cut. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:47, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I am not sure why you declined our entry for Table Rock Tea Company. Please refer to the entry for "Charleston Tea Plantation." You will see a very similar page, and that was approved.
US Grown Tea is a very significant subject, and Table Rock Tea Company plays a significant role in that space. We have kept this article neutral, we are cited in numerous publications and media outlets as historically significant.
If you are going to claim that this "reads like an advertisement", then you at least need to offer a suggestion as to which part, SPECIFICALLY, needs to change. Again, I would encourage you to read the Wikipedia entry for Charleston Tea Plantation and see that they are very much in line.

This submission Draft:Seekon Directory was rejected by Whispering as promotional: “reads like advertisement.” It was then (current draft) substantially rewritten to remove any wording that might be considered promotional, better conform to the other pages in Category: Web directories and resubmitted as a draft. There was no subsequent objection for two weeks so it was moved to Seekon Directory as per the move instructions but has now been moved back to the Draft space and new additional objections raised. Help is requested in understanding the current objections. Sorry if this is not the proper procedure for a resubmission.
Objectors are requested to please explain how the subject page now “reads more like an advertisement” than the other existing pages in this category. I agree with the idea that Wikipedia should not contain promotional material. However, obviously, it must contain descriptive material that describes the differences between different items in a category. Specific information on this would be very helpful in fixing the submission.
I am not being paid for working on this item or any of my other Wikipedia activities.
This submission otherwise appears to conform closely to other previously accepted pages in the Category:Web directories, which contains 36 other pages describing other web directories. Objectors are requested to explain how this page is less acceptable than many of the existing Wikipedia pages in this category. In particular, look at the following:
- Findlay
- TAXI (website)
- Hotfrog
- Alleba
- Humbul
- Programmable Web
- Sources (website)
- Virtual Library museums pages
- Zeal (web)
Some of these pages are flagged for supposedly not meeting some Wikipedia requirement but are still accepted and displayed. Some are flagged for “multiple issues” but are still accepted and displayed. Any aid in understanding why each of these pages has been accepted but the subject page has been removed would be greatly appreciated and aid in correcting the subject page and avoiding such difficulties in the future.

I am David Eugene Henry, the artist who wrote the article for the my Wikipedia submission. It was declined due to lack of citation of sources. The information in the article can be substantiated but I don't know how you want me to do it. The section about which you requested citation of sources was the list of group exhibitions in which my artwork was included. I have exhibition catalogs on some of the exhibitions, letters of acceptance on some exhibitions and awards certificates from some exhibitions. Much of the information in my article is also included in Who's Who in American Art and in Bob Creps book on American artists. William Eiland, the director of the Georgia Museum of Art, is very familiar with my work and biography and I am certain he would be willing to vouch for the information. There are also 2 examples of my works in the permanent art collection of the State of Georgia which can be seen on the Ga Council for the Arts website page: http://gaarts.org/component/search/?searchword=david%20henry&searchphrase=all&Itemid=163 if you would like to see them. How would you like me to site my sources? I stand behind everything in the article because I know the information to be factual through first-hand knowledge. Is it possible for me to just cite "Who's Who in American Art", Bob Creps book "Biographical Encyclopedia of American Painters, Sculptors & Engravers of the U. S." published in 2002, and "David Henry Paintings, Drawings, Bronzes" written and compiled by myself and Romita Ray, curator of prints and drawings at the Georgia Museum of Art, published in 2011 (currently for sale on ebay). The book by Romita Ray and myself book contains all of the information used in the article I just submitted to Wikipedia. Perhaps there is some way to just cite these 3 books as sources for the information. PLEASE, please help me with this. I am 70 years old and have limited experience with computers and the internet. It is very important to me to preserve this information about my art and career for future generations of art collectors who want to know about me as an artist. I think putting this information on the Wikipedia site will be very useful for those trying to find out about the artist whose work they have in their collections.

This is my first contribution to WP and I'm unclear where in-line citations are needed. There are no direct quotes and I did not think any of the text was controversial or might be challenged. I'm guessing that her book South America Mi Hija was nominated for a National Book Award might need a citation as well as the other awards. Is that correct and if so, is a referencing link to the University of Pittsburgh web site (the publisher of the book) that states the book was nominated for a National Book Award sufficient?

Your response was: "Thank you for your submission, but the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at List of Gotham episodes instead." So I would like to try to get that split if possible, but please feel free to reply so we can discuss. Thank you. JE98 (talk) 02:10, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
@Whispering, good day. Thank you for the reply re: my recent Article for Creation submission. Apparently, I have submitted that draft page to the incorrect clearinghouse for posting here at wikipedia.org. My intent was merely to create a user page for my still relatively new account profile here at wikipedia. Obviously, I have misread or misinterpreted the directions for submitting such a page. My error in forwarding that user page draft to the editorial portal for your review. Cheers, Nayokali Lakimibasas (talk) 15:29, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

The existing article 'Bunding' made no reference to integrity assessments of bunds. This I feel is an important topic. I appreciate that some of the material is duplicated but only so far as to make it clear what a bund is.
If i amended the article to remove duplicated material and cross referenced the 'bunding' article would that work for you. A link from the 'bunding' article to my article on integrity assessment would help complete the 'bunding' article.
- Well see that's the great thing about Wikipedia, you can just add your text to the existing article. Although, you might want to do a mock up in your sandbox and drop a note about the changes on the articles talk page about the change before doing so though. Whispering 00:55, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

Review of PAN AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP Article
[edit]Hi,
I write in respect to the above named article. upon discovering the premiere debating championship in Africa is not on Wikipedia, i sought to create a page for it, but then realised a draft for it had already been (poorly) made and rightfully declined. So, I made a lot of improvements to the article and added pertinent references for it as well.
I have resubmitted it for review and would like to know if you'd be reviewing it again. If yes, it would be great if the process is expedited if possible.

I declined your request for the speedy deletion of User talk:SallyShehab because the majority of content on the page consists of messages to the user, not the user's own writings. [edit]HI Whispering,
Can you please let me know why you suggested my sources were not reliable? Billboard magazine is not a reliable source for an album that has achieved Notable status? I also used several other reliable resources. Can you suggest specifically what part of the article needs more sources? That would be helpful to me. Best regardsCheryl Fullerton (talk) 20:32, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Cheryl

Hi, I thought the sources I cited are reliable, Billboard magazine, AllMusic and others. Can you tell me why specifically these sources were rejected? Craig Chaquico is a well-known guitarist, composer, and producer with Grammy Awards, and nominations for over 20 plus years, having played with Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship and then launching his own successful, award-winning albums career. Please let me know how to go about this article. I would really appreciate some suggestions. Cheryl Fullerton (talk) 20:38, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Cheryl

hello,
Regarding my article, it's my first time to submit an article to Wikipedia
So, firs, I wish to thank you for the feedback
Regarding your feedback, I only added the definition in the beginning as a type of introduction. However, it's not the main purpose of the article, and it didn't exceed one sentence. I already explained about reasons why Japanese people resort for online shopping, famous online shopping websites used in Japan, and companies use online shopping.
So I wonder if you have any suggestion for starting my article instead

Thalna
[edit]Hi, @Whispering: I was helping Cetagirl today in her sandbox for the draft on Thalna. I usually edit on WP:PT, so I I wasn't sure about the review button, since we don't use that system there. To tell you the truth, I thought they were all working on new pages, so I'll have to check the other sandboxes to avoid this happening again. Reading the current page and the draft, I saw that the current information is also there in the new page, but there are more references and the text is more developed. Do you think we could merge these two pages? I usually ask my admin friends on WP:PT for this sort of more technical task, but I can see some procedures are a little different here. Thank you very much, Domusaurea (talk) 02:33, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- The good thing about Wikipedia you can just go and edit the other article and add the information from the draft. Better sourced and larger articles with more information are always a plus. Whispering 04:19, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
[edit]Hello Whispering. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. — xaosflux Talk 00:18, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

[edit]
Other Wikipedia articles on animated web series such as the Raised By Zombies Wikipedia article only provided the web series' episodes on YouTube as source yet the sources were considered significant enough. Why is not the same case here? Battle for Dream Island is an extremely popular show on YouTube with the first episode receiving over 50 million views. The show just rarely gets talked about outside of social media, but that does not mean it is not it is notable enough to have it is own Wikipedia article. BrainCraft is a show that airs on YouTube yet it has its own Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Br Miller (talk • contribs) 10:21, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- Br Miller, the existence of one article (good or bad) does not mean that we must have an article about a related subject. Every page is judged on its own merits. Sometimes bad pages slip through the cracks, and rather than use them as justification for creating more bad pages, we should be taking care of them. It looks like Raised By Zombies does not meet our inclusion criteria and should either be improved or deleted. Primefac (talk) 13:18, 6 December 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

[edit]
Hi Whispering, I am requesting a re-review because I believe this artist has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, which are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1] as specified in the Wikipedia's guidelines of notability of people. She has had reviews in the Sunday Times, Bergens Tidende (Norwegian National Paper) Been played on BBC Radio 1 and large American college radio and had a variety of reliable online tast maker music publications write about her work. She also has an existing wiki page for a previous project, which to me seems reason enough alone she to be considered "notable" I mean surely if she was notable then people would like to know what she's up to now? can you please advise what exactly is the issue here because I believe I have followed the Wiki guidlines and satisfied the notability factor. Thanks for your time.
- Actually you didn't add any new references between the time KGirlTrucker81 declined the article and I reviewed it again. The history page shows that you linked a couple of pages however you didn't add any new references. Thus I reviewed it how I did, the last reviewer found the references lacking so I trusted their judgement. Whispering 22:09, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi whispering.
- I'm confused here, completely, and would appreciate an impartial second opinion. I asked for a second opinion because I believe I have satisfied Wikipedia's rules on notability with the references used in the first submission.
These references contain national Newspapers like The Sunday Times, and Norwegian National Newspaper Bergens Tidende Music taste maker publications like Clash Magazine and various others which all have Wikipedia pages themselves. How are these references not notable?
The first reviewer of this submission said the following "@Thesilentmajority: Currently, your only unreliable source is pointing to Facebook. Please review WP:N and remove it once you've familiarized with the guideline. KGirl (Wanna chat?) 13:21, 24 November 2017 (UTC)"
I don't understand this statement we are talking about reliable resources right?
So - I am please asking you to review this submission based on your own opinions not the opinions of the first reviewer so I can get an impartial second opinion on why these references are not notable enough.
~~~~ thank-you.
New Page Reviewer Newsletter
[edit]Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
- Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!
Outreach and Invitations:
- If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with:
{{subst:NPR invite}}
. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.
New Year New Page Review Drive
- A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.
Deletion of Omega Tau Podcast
[edit]You deleted the page Omega Tau Podcast just five hours after it was created, in the middle of the night (for Europe), so that no discussion was possible. You did not even let me the time to save a draft and continue working on it, but just destroyed the work, without any respect.
Think about that Wikipedia is not your property but a democratic project. No one will be disturbed by a new page in work which already contains informations but still is incomplete. On the other hand, with your dictatorial methods you demotivate users who might give a positive contribution to Wikipedia, and as I see in your discussion page, I am not the only one. You pretend to be the best and destroy the work of the others.
Omega Tau is a science and engineering podcast which has the same right to be on Wikipedia as a book. Since it contains interviews to experts in the fields, it can be used as a source for scientific and technical information exactly as a book.
I just began translating the German page but you deleted it with your dictatorial methods before I or someone else could continue. Please, reverse what you did, wait a week and think about it again. --Eio (talk) 07:39, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- Eio, Whispering only nominated the page for deletion because it did not meet our criteria for inclusion. I am sure that you can have the content restored and moved to the Draft space so that you can continue working on it, but in order to make that request you will need to ask at User talk:Anthony Appleyard, as they are the admin that deleted the page. Primefac (talk) 14:31, 19 December 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
- Thank you for the hint, Primefac.
- Still, Whispering may have all the reasons of the world to delete the page, but doing it without leaving any trace and without the possibility of a discussion is respectless. Apparently, if we read his discussion page, it is the usual way how he or she works on Wikipedia, destroying the work of the others and demotivating them with his dictatorial behaviour. There are many users who do not know the code of Wikipedia by hearth like Dr. Whispering, but still Wikipedia takes advantage of their volontary work and a bit of respect is in my view necessary. -Eio (talk) 21:55, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- First off it's he, and secondly I was just following the guidelines of Wikipedia. The onus is on you as the article creator to have the article ready for inclusion when you post it including reasons of why said podcast is notable and references to back those claims up. If you haven't got those ducks in a row before posting the article I would suggest working on it in draft space first. Whispering 00:15, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
