Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at W.J.B. Mattingly. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. Your username
[edit]Could you please clarify something? At Talk:W.J.B. Mattingly, you said you were contesting the deletion "because it is not autobiographical, despite my username". Does that mean you are not W.J.B. Mattingly, the person in question? If this is true, you should not edit under the name of another person. Wikipedia does not allow editors to use the real names of other people as usernames, to avoid damaging impersonation. You should request a change of username and select a name that conforms to Wikipedia's username policy.
If, on the other hand, you are W.J.B. Mattingly, then the article is autobiographical: you wrote it about yourself. Please read the guideline on autobiographies to see why this practice is frowned upon on Wikipedia. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 22:13, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
