Hi Velella, what sort of citation is necessary for adding an exchange to the table
--El fo0 (talk) 16:19, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- It looks as though you have found the answer already. Best of luck with that. Velella Velella Talk 21:34, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- Did you mean to write an article for Binance before adding it? Because you said to cite it properly. I'm assuming you've seen it hence your comment, is it enough information to start the article? BTW the name change is because I can't recover the other one. Rodgers the man (talk) 14:33, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Commotio (Oxford-based choir)
Dear Velella,
Thank you for your comments on the Commotio (Oxford-based choir) page but I am not sure it justifies deletion. I am new to Wikipedia so value your opinions as you are clearly experienced and have therefore altered some of the content which I hope addresses your concerns about COI.
Regarding notability perhaps you could look at the reviews page on the Commotio website (http://www.commotio.org/reviews.html) which lists not only independent reviews by composers and media of concerts, but also of all recordings. There are few other choirs in the country, let alone in Oxford, which perform the repertoire that Commotio does.
At no point in the pages does it comment on particular soloists and selling CDs other than stating facts if a notable soloist performed on a disc. This is information which is in the public domain and easily searchable. Perhaps you could let me know exactly what your concerns are here as it is difficult to address them currently.
I look forward to your responses but I firmly believe this page is not appropriate for deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commotiochoir (talk • contribs) 16:34, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- There a couple of issues here. First you appear to be closely associated with the choir and therefore have an undeclared conflict of interest. With regards to notability please read WP:GNG which should clarify my reasons for nomination. The decision whetherto delete will not be mine but will be decided by an admin having regard to Wikipedia polocies. Velella Velella Talk 10:20, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
Dada Kondke Trust
Dear Velella,
The reference sources provided are accurate. Dada Kondke was a very famous actor. His notability can't ever be challenged. After his death, Dada Konkde Trust was founded according to his WILL. all relevant sources are been provided. Pls give me a good reason for deletation of article. We at wikipedia try making things informative. Pls go through complete details and references. I have spent more than a month collecting proper n detailed information. Tell me what exactly you feel isn't notable? Search for Dada Kondke on google and you'll find about his Trust. He died with a WILL of helping people after his death in form of trust. Pls decline deletation of page Dada Kondke Trust — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwalia012 (talk • contribs) 10:05, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

sewage treatment
that does look like a mistake -- I suspect something on the List of crossings of the River Thames redirected there. Or perhaps my eyes crossed, and dunno. I was doing a rather tedious bit of wikignoming. The wl does seem a bit incongrous there, I agree. Content to let the reversion stand rather than track down what happened. I somehow doubt that the sever lines (if that is what it was) are *really* open to the public, even if they perhaps do cross the Thames. Thanks for the catch. Havening
Thank you Velella for helping me understand the editing process. I am a long time sponsor/user of Wikipedia but new to contributing. Yes, Havening is new to the scientific community and may still be construed as "pseudoscience" as new data and research are still being collected and awaiting publication. It is also a highly effective psychosensory technique and derives from Harper's 2012 (http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1534765611429082) article which I posted on the Havening wikipedia page and you removed. I am going to add this back into the Wikipedia page and I am hopeful you will note it to be as Wikipedia intends - informative. Please recognize that the evolution of science must always begin somewhere and sometimes these places are nuanced and unexpected. This article underlies the foundation of development of the Havening Techniques. Please do not "edit war" me.DeMarsac (talk) 03:18, 10 February 2018 (UTC)DeMarsac

Earl of Devonshire
Hi there - the reason I removed the redirect to the page Earl of Devonshire is simple, namely that the title has not belonged solely to the Dukes of Devonshire; it was previously held by Charles Blount, 1st Earl of Devonshire but this (the first) creation became extinct upon his death in 1606.
At the moment, Wiki seems to indicate that the earldom of Devonshire was only ever in the Cavendish family's possession, which of course is not true.
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.169.51.41 (talk) 03:24, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
- In such circumstances, the correct action is to note that at the start of the History section of the main article. The article need not be simply about the Cavendish family. Regards Velella Velella Talk 03:29, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
- Of course the main article shouldn't be just about the Dukes of Devonshire: it should make mention of Charles Blount, 1st Earl of Devonshire, who of course was not a member of the Cavendish family. So how to go about it, you know better? Thanks. 217.169.51.41 (talk) 04:22, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
Mickey Lolich
I added imdb.com as a source, but I'm not certain I did it as per Wikipedia's required criteria. Do I need more? Watchingthewatchmen20 (talk) 09:16, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- IMDB is not considered an acceptable source on Wikipedia, proncipally because anyone can say anything about themsleves. I could claim to have played James Bond in several movies if I had an IMDB entry (I don't and I didn't). The more significant issue is that the very minor role you want to add is not in any sense encyclopaedic. If we included every bit part player from every movie, Wikipedia would be inundated with thousands of trivial articles and trivial statements about people who made their name and fame elsewhere. I would very stro.rngly suggest leaving the Mickey Lolich article as is stands. His deserved fame is as a baseball player let him enjoy his fame unsullied by very trivial ancillary issues. Sexy vegan
How do you figure Sexy Vegan is not noteable? I have never seen a more noteable person in my life and I have no relation to him. I am confused as to why you feel he is not noteworthy? Legally changing your name to Sexy Vegan and tattooing it on your face and being all over IMDB, DR Phil and celebrity instagram is normal and non noteworthy to you? So was Jesus also not noteable? Please stop undoing my hard work Sexy vegan IS NOTEABLE and I site CREDIBLE sources and lying and claiming he is not is utter nonsense
- The logic of your sentence about Jesus is clearly false. Please read the notability guidelines to clarify the meaning of notability on Wikipedia - it is not the same as may be frequently assumed. Velella Velella Talk 09:25, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

John Savage, KG tbr
Hi Velella
We co-operated before on Earl of Devonshire for which I am most grateful. May I ask for your assistance in renaming (or at least how to rename) the article currently entitled John Savage, KG? As should be obvious this is a misnoma, because anyone who has been knighted can be styled Sir, and in his instance he has been known as Sir John Savage, KG for time immemorial (especially since the post-noms KG differentiate him uniquely from others by the name of Sir John Savage, who weren't KGs).
Much obliged for your guidance & thanking you in advance for your assistance as it is good to have Wikipedia reflecting correct info.

Edit Summaries
Thank you for your message. When I see "This section's tone or style may not reflect the wikipedia:Writing better articles#Tone|encyclopedic tone used on Wikipedia" and I improve the section's tone or style to reflect better writing, I believe what I am doing is clear. Can you suggest a more succinct way of saying 'improving the style'?Vincedumond 23:50, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- So when you simply add a link here which is actually a spam link containing a partial mirror of the same Wikipedia article, you think that the summary " I improved the style and encyclopaedic tone article by making it clear what happened and how. This helped to enhance the editing community's established practice of improving articles" accurately describes it ? My suggestion for an edit summary would have been "adding a spam link". Speedy deletion declined: Ekincare
Hello Velella, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Ekincare, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims coverage in reliable sources. If you are interested in learning more about how speedy deletion works, I have compiled a list of helpful pages at User:SoWhy/SDA. You can of course also contact me if you have questions. Thank you. - Thanks. It was worth a pot, so now off to AfD I guess. For the record, I guess that editors such as Cwmhiraeth and me have been round the block enough times to know what CSD looks like. Humour us a little if we push the boundaries just once in a while, but I personally don't need to hear back that it's been refused - I will see it on my watchlist. Thanks Velella Velella Talk 12:03, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
- I think T.S. Leander was the best candidate for speedy deletion I have seen for some time. A non-notable subject, riddled with copyvios and almost entirely cruft. However, it seems to me that SoWhy is an antideletionist, and permits articles to remain in existence that Wikipedia would really be better without. See here. I find it a bit discouraging. Wikipedia page improvement
The list of suicides that have been attributed to bullying wikipedia page would be much more complete and improved if there was a wikipedia article about Sladjana Vidovic and Hamed Nastoh. It would be a good idea to create a wikipedia article about Sladjana and Hamed because people will go to that article and find more information about that person — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymous1941 (talk • contribs) 05:43, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- I don't disagree. If articles are created and deemed by consensus to be notable then they may be included on the list. You may have noted that I haven't deleted the text relating to Hemed Nastoh because the sources there looks as though they may be sufficient to support an indepedednt article. Those that I have deleted did not, in my opinion, have adequate notability to support a stand alone article. Velella Velella Talk 08:35, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Two comments on your page move at User:Burim Ademiii: Firstly, when you move a user page into draftspace, please make sure that the user talk page stays in place. - Legacypac I have done some more investigation around this strange anomaly. In the last couple of years I have had three similar occurrences which were not intended edits. All of them were rollbacks and all occurred when viewing Wikipedia and my watchlist on a tablet. What appears to be happening is swiping the browser left to dump the app (in this case Chrome) it is very easy to press on "rollback" on an item somewhere close to the centre right of the screen. It appears that Wikipedia can record that as a rollback instruction while the app is closing. This will, of course, only occur with editors with rollback privileges so may not be common in the general run of edits. I will have to take extra care in future, but it does beg the question whether the software could be modified to require confirmation for a rollback as it does when rollbacking more than one edit. I shall post a suggestion on the appropriate page. Velella Velella Talk 23:26, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

I meant to say that the given reference web page (belonging to the subject, but that's a different issue) states "1993–2009: Professor, Department of Astronomy, University of Leiden (NL)", so I'm not sure what the problem is? Lithopsian (talk) 20:31, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- Lithopsian Which ref is that ? I see the Dublin ref which cites him as an "Adjunct Professor" but I can't see another. This ref also needs to be independent. This issue is critical to notability. Full Professors with full faculty responsibilities, as understood in the UK (i.e not as in USA), are deemed notable on Wikipedia. Without that, there may be significant doubts whether Perryman passes the notability bar. I accepted it from Draft into Mainspace in the belief that demonstrating he is a full Professor would be an easy task. Please help me out here. Thanks Velella Velella Talk 21:57, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, the Dublin link, it lists previous academic positions further down. He is no longer a professor at Leiden. I don't think notability in this case would rely only on a professorship, but would this be better as an independent bio? Obviously not entirely independent, but difficult to fake. Or this? Would a book be better? Lithopsian (talk) 11:11, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- The Royal Astronomical Society ref looks good. I have inserted it as an in-line ref in the article. Regards Velella Velella Talk 15:06, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

How was the link I left 'inappropriate for an encyclopedia'?
How was the link I left 'inappropriate for an encyclopedia'? it was a biography and information page full of facts! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bexsi (talk • contribs) 19:01, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
- Because it was simply advertising for your blog, which itself was just rehashing Wikipedia content. Velella Velella Talk 21:39, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
About Hordeum lechleri
I linked the word meadows cause it could be hard to understand but you unlinked it by doing rollback so i think it was necessary to be linked. Let me know what do you think about it. MTKASHTALK Contribs 12:17, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- In general we do not link words in common usage that the majority of readers would understand. Linking in such cases is almost always undone as overlinking. In this case your link went to the article Meadows - an article about the name which was also not very helpful. Velella Velella Talk 12:58, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018
ACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Fighting12 (talk) 22:34, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- Please read WP:GNG and WP:RS - neither of those sources are reliable or independent. Nor are they used as in-line sources to corroborate relevant text. Please take some time to review Wikipedia policies and guidelines and include appropriate in-line sources before re-submitting the draft for review. Speedy deletion declined: Aly Ryan
Hello Velella. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Aly Ryan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: there seems to be quite a lot of coverage out there judging by GNews and there is a RS in the article already. Thank you. SoWhy 14:58, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
