Request for adminship
[edit]On this occasion, your request for adminship was not successful. I hope that you will continue your useful contributions to Wikipedia and may consider standing again in future. Remember, many of the editors who did object are just keen to see more evidence that you are can maintain your current standards of participation over a longer period. Non-admin closures
[edit]No, all you need to do is add the code to the discussion and that's it. Ten Pound Hammer • (((Broken clamshells • Otter chirps))) 20:39, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

User:TenPoundHammer and his romp of Wikipedia-editing otters thank you for participating in Hammer's failed request for adminship, and for the helpful tips given to Hammer for his and his otters' next run at gaining the key. Also, Hammer has talked to the otters, and from now on they promise not to leave fish guts and clamshells on the Articles for Deletion pages anymore. Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- ForteTuba 13:55, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of People Known By One Name
[edit]People Known By One Name, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that People Known By One Name satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/People Known By One Name and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of People Known By One Name during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Chunky Rice 00:14, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Response
[edit]Like I say, don't let the "boo birds" deter you from contributing. A lot of the comments in AfD are brutal, and I'm as guilty of that as anyone else. On the other hand, the experience of getting booed off the stage inspired me to come back and defend other people's articles, to suggest improvement where it could be done, and to be (directly) impolite only if someone else threw the first punch. I apologize if I said anything ruder than usual. Sometimes it makes me mad, and then I have to remind myself that I'm letting someone I don't know aggravate me. There was one guy from Australia who pissed me off, and then I thought-- wait a second, he's in Australia, on the other side of the planet, and he's pissing me off? Pretty cool. Barnstar
[edit]Thank you, Useight, for the Barnstar. I appreciate the token. TheInfinityZero 23:34, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I think all numbers are prime prime. It seems very easy to prove by induction:
- All prime numbers are prime prime.
- Numbers that are the product of two prime numbers (4, 6, 9, 10, 14, 15, 21, 22...) are prime prime, because they can only be divided by 1, themselves, or other prime prime numbers.
- Similarly, numbers that are the product of three prime numbers are prime prime.
- And so on.
Thus, this definitions is completely pointless. JIP | Talk 06:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- My reply here.
- Actually, I read the definition wrong. It says "any other non prime prime number", not "any other prime prime number". This makes prime prime numbers equal to prime numbers. Proof: Any non-prime number can be divided by some prime number. Therefore, as all primes are prime prime, no non-prime numbers can only be divided by non-prime primes, therefore all non-primes are non-prime prime. This is not only as useless as the above, it also makes the article wrong. JIP | Talk 20:26, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Harry Potter roll-call
[edit]{{User WP Harry Potter}}
to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Conversely, if you do not wish to be considered a member of the WikiProject, leave your name where it is and it will be moved to the Inactive Contributors section. If you wish to make a clean break with the Project you may move your name to the Known to have left section. Many thanks.Inappropriate speedy-tag of article
[edit]Hi, just a friendly reminder to check the article history before you tag an article with {{db-bio}} or similar. You recently put this tag on Brian Lewis, but didn't see that there was a perfectly notable article in place before it was vandalized. Thanks! Andrwsc 20:03, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Useight. Thanks for warning me about the biteyness on my oppose on Ceres3's RFA; I haven't been as nice to newcomers lately, and your note really gave me a wake up call. Sebi (talk) 06:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Typo
[edit]Thank you for noticing a typo of mine in my UBX. I guess I need to form a goal to never have too many or too few typos in my self-created UBX. In addition to helping me fix a typo, your message reminded me that I know longer had two self-created userboxes; but, instead, three. TheInfinityZero 03:46, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Jackson
[edit]With respect to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adre'anna Jackson, would you mind taking a look at Category:Murdered American children? It appears to contain several similar articles in memorial style. Being from Europe myself, I have a difficult time picking out the notable ones from that cat.
