Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival

[edit]

Well done for producing your first article. I wonder if you can supply some sources from more national news sources? I'm concerned the current citations are very local in nature. Without them, I feel Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival may not meet our Notability criteria. Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 19:37, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See also WP:AUD, which requires national coverage, or at least regional coverage. An argument can be made, because a festival is an organized event, an organization is behind it, and therefore it falls under WP:CORP, which required national or regional coverage. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:28, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Collab?

[edit]

Hello @TrademarkedTarantula, I hope you are doing good. I am here after looking at your name on the Wikipedia Guild of Copy editors. I see you were interested in Perfectionsim on Wikipedia. I am currently working on a cleanup of particular series of articles see here: User:456legend#Drive 1 CAP. In any way if you are interested or if you can take part in this cleanup it would be of a great help. Thank you. (Please ping me if you are replying) 456legend(talk) 07:33, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@456legend perfectionism* (sorry, I had to.) Sure, I would love to participate in this clean-up drive! TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 14:12, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrademarkedTarantula Glad to hear that. To start with the cleanup waht category would you like to take up? For a better article you can lookup on the artciles done with the cleanup. 456legend(talk) 14:31, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@456legend Uhh... I guess I can work on Drive 1?? TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 14:39, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrademarkedTarantula Okay but can you start with formating the tables in ascending order for pages from S.No 88 to 93? If you are facing any trouble or confused please don't hesitate to ping me for any queries regarding the cleanup. Thank you 456legend(talk) 14:46, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@456legend Ohh! Gotcha. I thought you wanted me to copyedit the articles, not clean up the tables. TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 15:03, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@456legend, PROBLEM!! On this article, when I sort the table in the MLA section, the table distorts in a weird way and I can't fix it. Should I just stick to the election results section? Thanks, TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 15:42, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrademarkedTarantula Okkay np. I will fix it. And yes it's better for you to do the election results part. By the way see this for election results section: Vijayawada East Assembly constituency where you see how the sub headings are placed 456legend(talk) 16:21, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrademarkedTarantula hey please do not make any changes on my userpage on the list since I need to correct the textual information from the sources. Don't worry I will be following up your edit history and update the drive list myself. 456legend(talk) 16:37, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@456legend, oops. I thought this was actually something like a public checklist. TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 16:38, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@456legend Like you said, I have now finished cleaning up the tables by sorting them into ascending order and formatting the subtitles using your example. TrademarkedTarantula (talk) 16:56, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TrademarkedTarantula okay great. Let me have a look at them and reach you out again. 456legend(talk) 17:04, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Statue of Josiah Quincy III

[edit]

You started an AfD for Statue of Josiah Quincy III, but did not create Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Statue of Josiah Quincy III. You should either create Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Statue of Josiah Quincy III or remove the AfD notice from the article. In my view, the statue is probably notable, and there would have been lots of coverage by reliable sources at the time the statue was commissioned and unveiled in 1879. Perhaps you have access to microfilm or online archives of Boston newspapers from that period. Also, http://www.celebrateboston.com/statue/josiah-quincy-statue.htm Eastmain (talkcontribs) 18:17, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit/copywrite of the Spider-Man article

[edit]

hello. I was just checking out the talk pages for some articles to see if i could help, and i saw you made a topic on Spider-Man's page about you've "Recently, I've copyedited this article..." Can i ask what that mean? It may be obvious and i'm just dumb. But i just want to know what it means for someone to copyright/copy-edit a page. Since (as far as i know), Spider-man is copyrighted by Marvel. If you could explain, it'd be nice. thanks! Babysharkboss2 (talk) 17:52, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, glad you asked! Copy editing is a way to improve the quality of a Wikipedia article by fixing its grammar or style. It is different from copyrighting, which is when a work (book, movie, building plan, etc.) is protected by a company so that no other people can steal that work without their permission. If you would like to help Wikipedia by making articles easier to read, prettier to look at, or correcting information, you can join the Guild of Copy Editors. Here is the Wikipedia policy on the use of LLMs by editors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Large_language_modelsMoorlock (talk) 17:30, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, here's a prompt I've been using. I'm not a very sophisticated user, but this seems to be giving decent results —Moorlock (talk) 18:16, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please edit the following paragraph. Preserve all of the information that the paragraph was intended to impart. But change the wording as necessary to express that information in clear, concise, and correct English such as would be appropriate for a general-audience Wikipedia page. Use short, declarative, active-voice sentences where possible. Reword jargon or overly-academic writing into more commonplace English if you can do so without losing precision. Do not rewrite quotations embedded in the paragraph.

Your remarks at the Requests page

[edit]

Hi TrademarkedTarantula, I'm not sure if you saw my reply to your remarks at the Requests page before the bot archived it so here's a permalink. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 20:40, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Re your comment here, if you want to know anything about copy-editing, you're welcome to ask me on my talk page or multiple editors at REQ Talk. The Requests page (REQ) isn't a talk page so unless you're commenting on a request, you shouldn't comment on REQ because these are removed when the bot archives requests, and most relevant discussions there get moved to the talk page. Copy editing tips

[edit]
  1. I like having some chill music on in the background; it helps me focus. For some people, silence is better. Find what works for you.
  2. I've written and edited quite a bit and on tight time frames. With time, you get faster. (I know this isn't really a tip, but I wanted to let you know that things will improve with time).
  3. It seems like the issue you've identified is your attention span. I think one way to address that might be to not feel like you need to do everything at once. Split things up into more manageable chunks. Force yourself to get through one section, stop, and then come back. Another thing I used to use is a Pomodoro timer, which I found to be helpful until my attention span improved. Here's a link to an online one: [1].

Adding unsourced notables

[edit]

Your efforts to add Bill Parkyn as a notable in List of people from Teaneck, New Jersey in this edit was reverted as you provided no source in the Teaneck list article, there was no source in his article and I could not find any reliable and verifiable source in a Google search to establish a connection to Teaneck. No matter how hard you are trying to de-orphan an article, and I give you credit for that, if there is no source it should not be added anywhere. Alansohn (talk) 18:04, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is what happens when I'm stuck in a flow of unorphaning articles... I didn't notice that I had to add a source TarantulaTM (speak with me) (my legacy) 05:35, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sport in India

[edit]

Hi TrademarkedTarantula, just a note to say thank you for your recent c/e work on Sport in India. The requester turned out to be a sockpuppet account, which I suspected when the request was added in June. I did some digging earlier this month (AGF and all that) and opened an SPI into an account that had earlier requested a c/e for the same article and was then-blocked from the mainspace. The two accounts were found to be operated by the same person with a history of adding uncited text, and poor and sometimes incoherent English to articles. That article is in a poor condition and the request should have been declined but wasn't. Please don't let this put you off copy-editing; we can't fix up everything. :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 12:25, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
