User talk:TraciLords
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.

- Just to let you know, since you are not the person who the account is named for, you may want to look into changing your account name. Wikipedia really frowns upon accounts named for celebrities that are not the person the account is named for. Wildthing61476 (talk) 18:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- One more thing, it's a possibility that this account may be blocked based on the username policy, specifically this: "You should not edit under the name of a well-known living person unless it is your real name, and you either are that person or you make it clear that you are not. Such usernames may be blocked as a precaution, until it can be confirmed that the user in question is using their real name." It's great you are a fan of Traci Lords, and want to contribute here, but you'll need a different name to do so. Wildthing61476 (talk) 19:02, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- The name TracLord should work just fine I'd think. Thanks for understanding! Wildthing61476 (talk) 19:15, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) It's WP:CHU, follow the instructions there to change your name. Wildthing61476 (talk) 19:28, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 19:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Help with changing name
[edit]I didn't see your name listed as a request on the WP:CHU page. Did you follow the steps at the top of the page to have your username changed? Once you do that, you should see your name appear as a request to have your name changed. Wildthing61476 (talk) 12:10, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
