[edit]Umm, while this method certainly works for much of the crud the new articles feeds contain, it most certainly is not even near "fool-proof" for the topics affected by the systemic bias. Take this article, for example. Nine months after being created it still shows up first in the google search, and the whole first and second page of results are Wikipedia mirrors. As per your essay, the notability of the topic should be questioned, while in reality the article is just fine. It's just that the subject is obscure. You might want to think about incorporating a note about systemic bias into your essay, because with your method it is impossible to distinguish a genuinely notable but obscure topic from a truly non-notable one.
