User talk:Namiba/Archive Jul 2007
Hi Thomas! I've been passing through your contributions to list them on WP:NAFR, and I've been really impressed by the magnitude of work you've done creating new articles and building new categories to better the coverage of Africa. Since the sheer amount of your output, that makes it hard for us to keep track of all your new articles and categories, would you mind from now on, when you create new articles and cats, to add them to the New articles list? Unless you feel it would take to much time, obviously. Ciao,--Aldux 12:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

stub template coding
[edit]OK, done. Basically, the <noinclude>
/ </noinclude>
pair should (in that order) enclose the "|", and whatever sort key one wants to use for the template (typically a space). Alai 23:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello!
[edit]Thanks Thomas,
I am pretty sure that if there were more users like you, Wikipedia would lean toward perfection.--Albanian since Stone Age 02:05, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Definite article in DRC
[edit]Can I ask your help with something? I noticed you are a member of WikiProject Central Africa. Should articles on DRC include the word "The" in their title? I'm thinking of National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and others which have recently been moved. Personally I think yes they should, as this is what english speakers normally say (despite the general ban on articles in wikipedia). Could you let me know what you think by commenting at Talk:Democratic Republic of the Congo. Many thanks!! AndrewRT(Talk) 21:21, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Wow, you work fast!
[edit]That was some prompt service. Anyway, fair enough about th criticism issue. However, could we get a citation for AMA's links to al-Itihaad al-Islamiya? I didn't find anything about it in either articl. MezzoMezzo 15:16, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Good good, I think it's a great addition. Don't hesitate to offer more help in the future, I am new to this site and am still learning how to properly edit articles. MezzoMezzo 16:45, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Cinema of Egypt
[edit]Why do you remove the Cinema of Egypt template from the articles? - Anas talk? 22:48, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Although I agree that they are not directly related, the templates should be kept there. There was a huge discussion and the consensus was that these templates are helpful additions to the Egyptian cinema-related articles and other foreign, smaller cinema industries. Most of the articles, for example, of Egyptian actors and films are not well-connected. I believe the template will be of great help to maintain consistency in such articles. I also believe that the template might help draw attention to related articles and make navigation easier for interested readers. - Anas talk? 22:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Closest to my mind is this. Sorry for reverting you in the 2 articles, I thought you only removed the banner. The stub templates are not really necessary and would probably not make it because there aren't much articles to use the templates in. You know what, why don't you discuss this issue with the creator of the templates (yes, there's one for every cinema industry). He's User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld. As I told you, the templates' only purpose is to connect the few articles in foreign cinemas. Regards, Anas talk? 23:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, after checking, I didn't revert your edits, I only added the template. - Anas talk? 23:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of List of Angolan people
[edit]A tag has been placed on List of Angolan people, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 17:59, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, Thomas, it's a big job, but if you're willing to tackle it, more power to you. I should point out that, as a matter of procedure, you should not have removed the speedy-delete tag (although I think the guy who did the redirect may have done it instead), but add a {{hangon}} tag to the article. That's the official procedure, and some admins get a little hung up on that (I've found out the hard way). Having said all that, I would have taken the speedy delete tag down myself after learning your intentions.
- I do have one concern, though: If you're taking your list from the African Database site, is their a possible copyright violation problem there? If you don't just copy-and-paste the list, you are probably all right, but you might want to check around with the website operator to see. In particular, I see that their "Terms of Service" page at http://africadatabase.org/terms.html may present some problems. Just don't want you or Wikipedia to get into trouble.
- One other thing: Before you redirect List of Angolans to your page, maker sure you didn't leave anyone off your page that was on the old one. Let me know if I can help in any way. Realkyhick 23:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
