Copying from public domain material requires proper attribution

[edit]

You added material to NSF CAREER Awards copied word-for-word from http://nsf.gov/pubs/2001/nsf01134/nsf01134.pdf. That's okay, since the source document is a product of the US Government. But you have to provide attribution. For PD sources, this can be done by adding the template {{PD-notice}} after your citation. Please do this in the future when re-using public domain content. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:27, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. --Kansas Bear (talk) 18:44, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Need help ?

[edit]

Hey Stongay, i've seen your message on user:Kansas Bear's talk page. Just to let you know, if you need any help here on Wikipedia, i'll be glad to proceed. Again, sorry for my revert on the Genghis Khan article, you were right about the source. Please note that it's better to sign your comments using the four tildes "~" next to the last word of your sentence. Also, for better readability, indent your comments with ":" to answer the first message, "::" for an answer to the message with ":" and so on. If you have any questions, don't hesitate. Last but not least, thank you for the cookies ;-) Best regards.---Wikaviani (talk) 20:07, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a place to promote oneself. Thank you. – Thjarkur (talk) 01:12, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sefaattin Tongay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Welcome!

Hello, Stongay, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited was Sefaattin Tongay, which appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.
