You are invited to the first ever Reading Wiki Meetup which will take place at Copa, 76-78 Kings Road, Reading, RG1 3BJ on Sunday 23 September 2012 from 1.00 pm.

I hope as many people as possible will be able to attend so that we can make this a regular event. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Berkshire related topics. Bring your laptop if you like and use the free Wifi or just bring yourself. Even better, bring a friend! Click the link for full details. Looking forward to seeing you. Hi. When you recently edited Blake's 7, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Deadline (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mmmmm how about no?

Nah, I don't think I will stop. I prefer the other pronunciation, therefor, I will keep editing it. Because pronouncing it like "Cash" is retarded and proves confusion when talking with others, this is america [however crappy it may be], with many pronunciations for things, so i will keep changing it however many times I wish. Leave it how I put it, and it will stop :) otherwise, it'll keep happening, like it has for over a month now :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.220.9.38 (talk) 20:25, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

"Leave it how I put it and it will stop". Very mature. (BTW, it is "therefore", "America" and "I") Stephenb (Talk) 06:16, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Pretty quick on the grapefruit!

I called the section "temp" because I figured it'd be gone before anyone noticed. Easier to delete whole sections with a PlayStation 3 than to slowly backspace them. But you edit conflicted me. The paragraph just doesn't belong in a lead, for a few reasons. Anyway, glad someone's alert and on guard! InedibleHulk (talk) 11:04, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject EastEnders/Manual of style

I had no idea you would be watching that page - but your edit summary prompted me to add to it what the WikiProject had decided a long time ago, so thanks for that! –anemoneprojectors18:11, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

I watch quite a few EE pages; never did quite understand why the full family aren't listed in the infobox, but I do now, so thank you for that! Stephenb (Talk) 18:24, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

I am letting you know that I have proposed a merge of Chili burger to Chili con carne. Being that you participated in the AfD, I'd be interested in your thoughts. The discussion is at Talk:Chili con carne#Merger proposal. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 15:19, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

It was suggested that Hamburger might be a better target, and I was implored to allow that as a possibility. Therefore, I've moved the discussion to Talk:Chili burger#Merger proposal to allow for this. Please accept my apologies if it seemed that I was advocating for one solution over another. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 16:18, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Chomski Deprod

Hi Stephenb, could you tell me why you thought Chomski deserved a deProD if you have time ? Cheers.--Keith 15:47, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

I've just seen it now so : let me ask the exact same question for Classic Hits (Dial Global radio network), 300_Bowling_and_Entertainment_Centers ?? (An Edit Summary would have avoided me asking but there's none).--Keith 15:51, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
All the articles looked fine to me. If you want them deleted (and I don't understand why) take them to AfD. Stephenb (Talk) 08:46, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello

Just FYI, it you come across edits like this one again, it's likely to be a sock of User:Trueman31. I always wondered what Dot, Phil, Steve and Patrick did wrong all these years as he only seemed to target them before. However now seems to have broadened his targets to include the above as well as Kat, Alfie and Tanya!--5 albert square (talk) 17:34, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Length of The Crystal Maze article

Hello - I'd be very grateful if you could contribute to Talk:The Crystal Maze to explain your tagging of The Crystal Maze article as 'very long'. I've been working extensively at growing the article over the past few months, but I've also been trying hard to keep it tight and I honestly don't believe it's too long. Let's talk about it. Thanks in advance. Cmch83 (talk) 00:06, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

ALLCAPS

Hi, just to say that WP:ALLCAPS does state that we should "Reduce newspaper headlines and other titles from all caps to sentence case or title case", so I've reverted your revert on Pauline Fowler. –anemoneprojectors19:44, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Instal(l)ment

Thanks. I never realized there was a British English tag - not that I would have known instalment had only one l. I'm just one of those people that believes you can (almost) never have too many links. It's easy to take for granted that readers, especially younger readers in other countries know what the United Kingdom or the United States is (or what the initials UK or US stand for). I do not see a preview or review button on the visual editor. Could you tell me where that is? Thanks again Nv8200p talk 13:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

London Underground

Mea culpa! You're right about instal/install. I must have been thinking about instalment/installment. In fact I now see that ODWE, which I should have consulted in the first place, actually prefers install to instal. -- Alarics (talk) 21:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I double-checked my dictionary and found the same preference... in the light of that, I decided that 'install' would be preferred here too, as it works for both US and UK English, and so everyone would be happy! Stephenb (Talk) 21:55, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Since you have over 100 edits at Charles Dickens, you might want to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Novels#Derivative_works_and_cultural_references_templates regarding including navigation boxes for adaptations of and related subjects to an authors works on the author's bio page.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:12, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Reversal of my edit - lauren braining

I guess I should have provided a reason, here is what the paragraph I edited it said originally:

In January 2012, Jossa praised her storyline in which Lauren starts binge drinking due to the stress of her mother suffering from cancer.
She stated: "At first to Lauren drinking was a laugh. Then it became a way of forgetting—she has carried the burden of keeping her mum's illness secret. It's good EastEnders have done the storyline. It highlights that teenagers who people label irresponsible could be doing it to deal with worries they are keeping to themselves. What they actually need is help or someone to talk to."[1]
Jossa commented on the storyline saying that teenagers should take binge drinking more seriously.[2] She said: "It's good EastEnders have done the storyline. It highlights that teenagers who people label irresponsible could be doing it to deal with worries they are keeping to themselves. What they actually need is help or someone to talk to. At first to Lauren drinking was a laugh. Then it became a way of forgetting - she has carried the burden of keeping her mum's illness secret."[2] Speaking about Lauren's love life, Jossa added: "I always want Lauren and Fatboy to get together. They would make such a cute couple."[2]

The third part more or less repeats the second part (I accidentally deleted the wrong part, I feel the bold part should be deleted). Do you still disagree? KP-TheSpectre (talk) 14:23, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing The Vineyard Hotel

I missed that one when I went back over all the edits I did on a pc running IE10 - apparently it objects to something called "cross site scripting" and then is scatters a bunch of # characters all over the place. I have reverted to editing with IE9. Thanks Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:14, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Ah, that explains it, thanks! I didn't think it was deliberate vandalism, but someone might have compromised your account or something! I'll bear that in mind if I see other edits from anyone which contains #s. Cheers, Stephenb (Talk) 07:26, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Hey, having checked out that book (I don't have access to it), the ref is like the first couple of pages of a book where Blunkett discusses his disability extensively. I find it very unlikely that he mentions Brass Eye there. Perhaps you know better. Vashti (talk) 20:08, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

... especially since, having investigated further, the book was first published in 1996. The reference is citing that Blunkett is blind, which is what I just removed. Vashti (talk) 20:12, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Fair enough. Please be more careful with your edit summaries in future. Stephenb (Talk) 06:17, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
