DYK for Black Native Party
On 3 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Black Native Party, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Afro-Uruguayan intellectuals founded the Black Native Party in 1936, the third Black political party in Latin America? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Black Native Party. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. DYK Nomination for National Convention of New Sudan Needs Verb Change
Soman: The following are the comments on the DYK nomination for the National Convention of New Sudan. You can see that I reviewed the nomination and suggested it was good to go. BlueMoonSet would like clarification of the words "chartered out". I actually read this phrase as "charted out" or I might have mentioned that the words were subject to more than one meaning and probably should be clarified. I also read the sources so I probably had no problem with the meaning because I knew the context. I think BlueMoonSet is right, that "chartered out" will not give the new reader an accurate idea of what the convention did. Also, he interprets "charted out" to be something like "planned", rather than "set up." As I read it, "set up" is what they did but perhaps that is not accurate unless the laws were implemented. I must say I did not read the background material far enough to see which meaning is more exact. The bottom line is that I think you need to go in and change these words in the hook - probably to "set up" unless you read the sources as stating something different. Donner60 (talk) 01:01, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Article written within the last 5 days. Long enough. Is neutral, cites sources, free of copyright violations or plagiarism. Hook is properly formatted, interesting in view of political developments leading to new country of South Sudan, accurate in line with inline citations, neutral, does not focus on any specific living people. Appears good to go. Donner60 (talk) 08:04, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've considered promoting this hook a couple of times, but I can't figure out whether "chartered out" means "charted out"—that is, made plans for—or "chartered" as in "set up". The article gives clues, but not enough so I can eliminate either possibility. Can the hook please be revised so its meaning is clearer? Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 21:49, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Soman: The following comments were added to the DYK nomination page by BlueMoonset who would like an alternate hook and by me. You will see that I proposed a new hook which I think is accurate and will work, but I think that you should approve this or propose a further alternative on the DYK nomination page. Donner60 (talk) 03:44, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Can you please propose an ALT hook, then, to reflect this information. However, I'm wary of phrases like "fair to assume". Any sources that might indicate that they were? If not, then the hook can only say what the convention did, not what was implemented afterward. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:30, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Based on the response from Soman and my limited reading of the sources, I think the following alternative would be both clear and accurate
- ALT 1 ... that the 1994 National Convention of New Sudan drew up a civil political administration for the areas held by SPLA guerrillas?
- I would leave it up to Soman to agree to this alternative or propose another. I will leave him a message. Donner60 (talk) 03:44, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Soman: Sorry to trouble you with this since I was the one who used the words "drew up" instead of "outlined." As you suggested that may be a good word for the hook. Here is the latest exchange on the DYK nomination. I think it would be best if you would also approve this - or suggest another alternative if you have one that might be better. Donner60 (talk) 07:50, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Can someone rule on the new ALT1? There's something about "drew up a civil political administration" that doesn't quite strike me right, but I can't figure out why, and don't think this should be hung up waiting for me to figure it out. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:04, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps "drew up" still has an implication of implementation. Soman suggested the word "outlined." I thought that was ok but it seemed a little tentative. How about using "outlined" instead of "drew up." I think it is still accurate and in line with the sources. I will leave a message for Soman.

Shiromani Akali Dal
Hi Soman, there's a merge proposal tag without argument that Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthik) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic) be merged. They certainly seem to refer to the same group. I was surprised to see you created both articles on two consecutive days, albeit way back in January 2005. I'm happy to merge them, but I was hoping you could suggest which spelling should be used and whether the party is "hard-line" (Panthic) or a "moderate" one "opposed [to]... militancy." If you have any good references, that would help too, as both articles are currently unreferenced. Thanks BDD (talk) 22:39, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm still confused over this one. If you see [1], there is one SAD(P) being formed as a split from SAD(Mann) on August 30, 1990 (page 107) and one SAD(P) being formed as a split from SAD(Badal) in 1991 (page 110). Are we sure that we are talking about one and the same party? --Soman (talk) 05:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm. I'll leave a request for attention with WikiProject India for this one. I can believe they're separate parties, but more information either way would be helpful. A "not to be confused with" hatnote would be good too. --BDD (talk) 23:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

The article Workers Party (Peru) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Very short unsourced article of doubtful notability.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PatGallacher (talk) 12:33, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
National hatred
Hello. I hurried to rollback as vandal everything added by that user when I saw the words spreading national hatred. I see that you made a change at that point and only after that re-instated the said user's contribution. Thank you. --E4024 (talk) 09:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Seeing your edit on the said user's talk page, I need to remind you the difference between assassination and execution. All the people in the cathegory you remind me have been executed on a court sentence, and many years ago. Thank God there is no capital punishment in Turkish criminal law now, even for crimes against the state at times of war... --E4024 (talk) 20:03, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Please go and read that talk page again. I could say more but will not: This has served as a very good experience to me... --E4024 (talk) 19:59, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Forward (generic name of socialist publications)
The Forward issue was fairly well resolved through AfD, but it just occurred to me that if you still want coverage of the topic, List of periodicals named Phoenix could be a model. List of periodicals named Forward is a good, neutral title that, if properly formatted, should resist hijacking for political attacks. --BDD (talk) 16:52, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
