I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Tutorial

- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
You might also find these policies and guidelines useful:

- An essay containging a List of bad article ideas
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Getting the articles just right can be tricky - but there are lots of people to ask!
If you have any questions, just click on the Contact Me link after my signature at the end of this section. Alternatively, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}}
before the question.
By the way, when you are writing on a discussion page (or someone's talk page), it is considered good manners to sign your comment... to do this, just add ~~~~
at the end of your comment. That will put your user name (Seeberga) and the date/time at the end (or you can click on the icon when you are editing. Never sign on an article page - only on a discussion page.
If you have any other questions, there are a few ways to do this:
- leave me a message on my talk page by clicking on "Contact Me" in my signature
- leave a message on this page by clicking on the edit this page tab at the top of the page, going to the bottom of the edit box, and then typing
{{helpme}}
followed by your question. Someone will be along as soon as possible to help you by replying on this page. - leave a message on the Help Desk - just click on that link, and then follow the instructions on the page which appears.
I am now going to add my signature, using ~~~~

Creating a new article
[edit]First, be prepared!
Have your sources available - you won't need them the moment you start, but you will soon!
Read Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Independent sources for information on the kinds of sources Wikipedia prefers.
Then use the Article Wizard to start your article:
- Click here: Wikipedia:Article Wizard 2.0 and basically follow the instructions!
- When you get to the final page ("6. End") choose "Create new userspace draft"
The userspace draft is important - it allows you to develop your article in your userspace (rather than in the main encyclopedia) - and there is more leeway given. When you have finished the article, it can be moved to the encyclopedia - but I'll explain that when we're ready for that!
One word of warning: do not copy text verbatim from a book, magazine, newspaper, journal, website, etc... copyright violations will result in the page being deleted, often with very little warning. All words must be your own.
There are several ways of getting help:
- Leave a message on this page. It is on my watchlist, which means that I can see what the latest change to the page is!
- Leave a message on my talk page - just click on "Contact Me" in my signature
- Go into IRC
- Leave a message on this page starting with
{{helpme}}
followed by your question - someone in the IRC help room will be over as soon as possible - Leave a question on the Help Desk
Finally, if you leave a message on a talk page (never on an article page), it is considered good manners to sign your comment. To do this, type ~~~~
at the end of your message: this will add your username (Seeberga) and the date/time.
I am now going to sign this comment using ~~~~
, which will show up here: -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 01:34, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
