My RfA
My Thanks
I wanted to drop a brief note on your talk page (one admittedly not written to you only, but nevertheless truly meant) to thank you for your vote in my Request for Adminship, which concluded this evening. Even though it was unsuccessful, it did make clear to me some areas in which I can improve my contributions to Wikipedia, both in terms of the areas in which I can participate and the manner in which I can participate. I do plan on, at some point in the future (although, I think, not the near future), attempting the process again, and I hope you will consider participating in that voting process as well. If you wish in the future to offer any constructive criticism to me, or if I may assist you with anything, I hope you will not hesitate to contact me. Thanks again. — WCityMike (T | C) ⇓ plz reply HERE (why?) ⇓ 04:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

My RfA
Thank you for voting in my recently unsuccessful RfA. I plan on working harder in the coming months so that I have a better chance of becoming an admin in the future. I hope you will consider supporting my if I have another RfA. Thank you for your comments. --digital_me(t/c) 16:00, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Arecaceae
Hi Schzmo - nice addition on the taxonomy. Can you get the List of Arecaceae genera page to match? It uses the rank of tribe (not subfamily) and has eight of them, not six - MPF 23:39, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks; yes, good idea to include the tribes (mebbe formatted ;Subfamily *Tribe **''[[Genus]]'', or ===Subfamily=== ;Tribe *''[[Genus]]''); fine using one reference, just say something like "classification follows Uhl and Dransfield (1987)". If a new classification comes along, it can always be changed. - MPF 12:42, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I've reorganized the list - but it may require some trimming. Some genera are in the list that are not in my source and I don't know if I should leave them there. There may be dispute about distinctions and synonymous names in the list. SCHZMO ✍ 15:10, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Nice! Options on the ones not in the source, (1) move them to the talk page, or (2) an appendix at the bottom of the page, so that others have an opportunity to sort them. I'd suspect they'll turn out to be treated as synonyms of other genera by Uhl & Dransfield. Are any of the unlisted genera blue links? - they'll be the most difficult ones to deal with. - MPF 11:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Editcount Template
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think my template is now famous? :P
See Pilotguy's (Talk ▪ Contributions ▪ Logs ▪ Block Logs) contributions as of 22:12, 12 June 2006 (UTC) using Interiot's tool:
G.He 23:39, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- No problem at all! I'm sure you already know the link, but in case you don't, there are two: User:GHe/E1 and User:GHe/E2. E1 is for names not ending in s while E2 is for names that do. Also, for names with multiple words, make a second parameter like this:
{{subst:User:GHe/E1|User Name|User+Name}}
. (Note to self: If this gets really useful in the future, GHe may move the pages to a true template page... :)) G.He 00:40, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
hey
Hey hows dat wikipedien' goin'? gonna edit a ton over da summer n be a mod-thingy?
That was rude.
Gok is my friend, so while what I wrote on his talk page may have been nonsense, it was none of your business to rv it.
Thanks.
Just wanted to let you know that I left a very torough analysis of Arecaceae at it's peer review page. Circeus 01:23, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Range maps
Hi Schzmo - I like the idea of adding these, but the ones you've added are very low resolution; how did you download them? They would also be better as .png files rather than .jpg files (.png is much sharper). On the USDA site, the pdf files are much higher resolution but could be tricky to convert to .png format (maybe printscreen them?); the zip files I couldn't open so I don't know what resolution they are. It might also be worth cropping off the bulk of non-range areas so the actual range is clearer on the page. I'll give the Grand Fir map a go tomorrow for your thoughts. - MPF 00:29, 1 July 2006 (UTC) PS belated Happy Birthday!
- Done it now - let me know what you think - MPF 00:43, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
The page you wikified for me look great thanks mine was the United States Pacific Island Wildlife Refuges. I am new to wikipedia but i think your pages look good
Copyvio's on (maybe a hundred) Sri Lankan history pages
Hey, noticed you copyvio'd Avukana Buddha Statue. The original editor of the page has added dozens of similar pages... are you going to go through them all and do the same thing - sounds like a big job...! Let me know what you think - by all accounts the editor has sought permission from the website author (see User talk:Ela112). Budgiekiller 21:35, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA
Hi,
That's a very fair question, and -- in some ways -- you are an innocent victim here. I'll try to explain: RfA regulars have a problem: although adminship is supposed to be "no big deal", we know that there is no easy way to request de-adminship for an editor who gets the tools early in his editing life, and then turns out to be a fairly disagreeable guy. We have to make judgments on a sparse record sometimes. I look for someone who has project-space experience (so that he knows policies, and has been involved in the sometimes intense debate over them), someone who is always civil, and someone who is dedicated to the encyclopedia. It's sad to say, but too many noms. in a short time is a negative in that third area. Adminship is certainly no more fun than editing, and is oftentimes a lot less fun; anybody who asks for it too frequently or too loudly might not know what they're getting into. Plus, there's that sneaking suspicion that somebody who really wants adminship is out for "power" or something, which is the kind of attitude that most people don't want in an admin.
This is not to disparage your character; I don't know you, and I must make decisions about my comment on the basis of limited information. In your case, I saw a compelling "warning sign", but I may very well be mistaken. My userpage also outlines why I consider myself a "conservative" RfA voter, and why I hope no one would take offense at my choices. My recommendation to you regarding how you might proceed was intended to suggest that patience is a virtue, and a display of patience would be the sort of thing that might change my mind next time, together with others who share my view. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Connecticut Cities
Hi, I noticed you recently edited the Connecticut template removed certain cities from it. How did you conclude what was a city and what wasn't? You deleted some bigger ones, Manchester & West Hartford (populations > 50,000) for smaller ones such as Derby & Groton (city) (populations < 15,000). I feel you should start a dicussion in the talk page before making major deletions, thanks. - Sohailstyle July 9, 2006, 16:00 (UTC)

O.K. How do you get your picture you uploaded to hsow on a page? Please comment me back. I need help on Keenen Ivory Wayans
