What you've got so far looks good to me. Three additional items you might consider mentioning: 1) Urban/Metro/CSA population counts in the Infobox, 2) City area data, which affects population density, in the Infobox, and 3) the community demographic breakdown data (race, income, etc.) in the Demographics section. As far as I know, the Census Bureau has not yet released this information for Census 2010. Until it does, there will be a noticeable disjoint between those data points and the updated 2010 population counts. I can see this throwing off some editors and users. My recommendation is that these sections be left as is, with notations where necessary to clarify discrepancies (e.g. city population count is from 2010, but metro area count is from 2009), until the Bureau releases the updated info. At that point, add sections to your template covering how to update these items. FUBAR007 (talk) 15:24, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New section header maybe?

A suggestion, you may want to separate out the article page improvements from the Census data changes with a "While you are there" statement.
Also I am only using the template {{Commons}} instead of {{Commons category|TBD, Kansas}} as it auto searches for all media in Commons containing the article title even if it is in the description. This way it returns more choices as there may not be a "Category" made for a particular place. It may return unexpected returns though, but in my opinion the extra media choices offset the occasional (rare in my experience) unrelated search returns.

I started updating the county census data first. Here is one example My County Census edits. You may find something useful. I have also found that the template {{Infobox U.S. County}} does not let you use the "auto" parameter when it comes to population densities. I have to manually insert the densities into the infobox. What I do is first make all the changes except the the pop densities then I do a preview which shows me the calculated densities from the {{Pop density}} in the 2010 subsection of Demographics. I then add the pop densities in the infobox and save page.

BTW (off topic a little)I ran across this template {{Commons-inline}} which with all parameters looks like {{tl|Commons-inline| pagename|showname}} which does the same thing but puts it in a External link line instead of a box.
An example without using parameters
{{Commons-inline}} Media related to Sbmeirow/RecommendedChangesToArticlesFor2010Census at Wikimedia Commons An example using parameters produces:
{{tl|Commons-inline|Sbmeirow/RecommendedChangesToArticlesFor2010Census|Recommended Changes to articles for 2010 Census}} Media related to Recommended Changes to articles for 2010 Census at Wikimedia Commons
I think you have done a fantastic job on the instructions so far. You directed me to the right places in the Factfinder maze both city (your "how to" page) and county (Nyttends talk page) and I want to Thank You for that. You may want to add that Factfinder link for counties onto your "how to" page soon.
Keep up the good work--RifeIdeas Talk 19:19, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
