Welcome to Skeletor2112's talk page.

Dude, sweet friggen picture. I don't think FAC people like me very much, I'm on there all the time! Burningclean [speak] 17:39, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure if we get one or two more supports it'll go. Indopug isn't opposeing, so that's good. I messaged a few people about it but they haven't responded. Burningclean [speak] 17:49, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, you and I should full on collaberate on something. I wrote the majority of Opeth and you helped out for structure, and you wrote (pretty much all) of Sabbath and I'll help out once you get the last couple sections done. But you and I should take on an article together. Burningclean [speak] 17:55, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I didn't need anymore supports. :D Burningclean [speak] 19:48, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have a list of stuff I would like to work on. Megadeth discog wouldn't be too bad. If you wanted to write a breif history, I'll do the charts. I don't like the history part, just the charts. I'm currently doing Guns N' Roses discography and Metallica discog wouldn't be bad. Sabb is going to be sweet once it is done. I wouldn't really be suprised if it took half a year to finish and get to FA though. I'd work on Dream Theater, I was thinking about that one, I just recently started getting into them. United Abominations has been sitting at GAN for a while. If you wanted you could review it, I don't think you've made any edits to it, or substantial edits for the matter. I'd like that for FA. I'll start up Megadeth discog if you wanted to do the history, just let me know if you do, it could be a co-nom then. Burningclean [speak] 21:27, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[message left above this] Dude, I just got an awesome idea: lets start wikiproject Megadeth. What do you think? Burningclean [speak] 21:29, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, lets do it, WP:DETH. Maby you would want to read other FL discogs to see aht is needed for an overview. Basically its when they formed, signed, albums, albums, albums, charts, certifications for the lead. I'm pretty good at the harts, so I can do all them. They have a long discog, so it'll take a while. Burningclean [speak] 20:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey dude, would you mind doing your schwing with United Abominations? It is nearly ready for FAC. Burningclean [speak] 23:02, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. "Baby Boy" is now on PR. Can you visit there? Thank you. --Efe (talk) 11:30, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take care!

[edit]

Hi, I am posting here on Wikipedia for the last time today as this user. I have had fun editing pages here, and have met some cool people, but I'm afraid that if I didn't retire from Wikipedia today, then I'd be doing it either on or near June 26th, 2008. Why? Because I am leaving for boot camp on that day to join the U.S. Navy.

Do not feel abandoned if you are someone that I have gotten to know a little here. I'm not doing this to be a dick, only because I have to. I really don't have much time to edit here anymore, since I'm so busy getting prepared physically and taking care of the month and a half of schoolwork that I have left.

If I ever get the chance to resume editing here someday... then I will.

Until then, this is Dark Executioner's last stand. Dark Executioner (talk) 19:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re:UA & more

[edit]

Cool. Does your band have music posted on MySpace or anything? Yeah, the Megadeth discog lead would be cool. I'm busy with Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Metallica discography right now. Thanks, Burningclean [speak] 22:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You? Burningclean [speak] 00:01, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
? and ¿ Burningclean [speak] 00:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alright! That is a funny EP name! I must say though, the only drug I do is OPETH!!!! How far along are you on the album? Once it is out would I be able to find it anywhere? Or is that all unclear right now? Cheers, Burningclean [speak] 20:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Strapping Young Lad is a featured article candidate, so feel free to comment! Gocsa (talk) 14:28, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've addressed all your comments at tha FAC, there's only one thing left I need your help with, the rest is stricken. Thanks! Gocsa (talk) 18:10, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't want to create a whole new section to ask a fairly minor question, so I'll post it here under another Canadian band. Does the "2112" in your name refer to the Rush song/album? Just wondered. Good work on the Black Sabbath article btw. Lewis512 (talk) 23:05, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is my biggest project to date and I would like to ask your suggestions for it to improve further. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 12:58, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Opeth

[edit]

It would be greatly appreciated if you refrain from deleting my edits, especially the one regarding Opeth's musical influences.(I will stop changing the other things we disagree on if we can at least compromise on this topic) Opeth have incorporated Blues elements into their music, on many occasions. Such as on the entire Damnation record, as well as in songs featured on Still Life, Morningrise and My Arms Your Hearse. Also, songs from Ghost Reveries have certain moments of strong blues influence. Such as parts throughout "Reverie/Harlequin Forest". "Isolation Years"is also a PURE blues rock song all the way through. Solid proof can be found in the Damnation/Deliverance DVD documentary and the Ghost Reveries special edition DVD documentary, where Akerfeldt mentions his strong Blues-Rock influences, such as Robin Trower. Who is an atrist that Opeth recorded a cover song for the special editon release of Watershed. Im not sure if youre familiar with Robin Trower or not, but trust me, you have to be a die-hard blues junkie to be able to pull off a Trower cover! lol Metalstyle (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:34, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found the PERFECT proof for my arguement that Opeth incorporate Blues into their music. On Opeth's official Facebook page, they say it themsleves right in their own band bio. Check it out for yourself,

You seem to have misunderstood my words. What I said is that Opeth INCORPORATE Blues-Rock elements into their music. Damnation, as I said, has strong blues-rock undertones to it. I never said it was

a blues album and I never said Opeth was a blues band. The song "Isolation Years" from GhostReveries is a blues-rock song 100% and there is no denying it. I come to the conclusion you are not that big of an Opeth fan since you have not heard that song or the Ghost Reveries record (which also has other blues elements to it) I personally own the entire discography and have been a fan of Opeth since the release of Morningrise. What drew me to that record was the mix of death metal, jazz, acoustic folk and the smooth melodic blues-rock licks - especially within the song "Black Rose Immortal" Also, the song "Credence" from My Arms Your Hearse is another stong, solid blues-rock song. Now, because Opeth have some strong blues elements in their music it does not mean they are a blues-rock band. Rush have heavy riffs in some of their songs, one can say they incorporate metal into their music, but it doesnt make them a metal band. The only true proof I can give you is Mikael Akerfeldt himself. Buy the Lamentations DVD and watch the Deliverance/Damnation documentary that comes with it. Listen really closely whenever Mikeal Akerfeldt and Steven Wilson are talking about the band, the writing process ect. They both mention blues-rock elements on numerous occasions. After youre done watching that, I highly recommend you purchase the special-edition version of Ghost Reveries. Watch the documentary that comes with the bonus DVD. The same thing in mentioned once, about 23 minutes in, where they are interviewing Mikael Akerfeldt about the new record and about the new drummer. Mikael says, almost word for word, "Opeth arent just a metal band - a death metal band. To be in Opeth you have to be into all different styles. Progressive, Folk, Blues, Jazz. Its all in there. Were not your average death metal band I guess you could say" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 03:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, in all honesty, you feel a band's official page that they run themselves (well, only Akerfeldt) is not proof? Tell em exactly what type of page you want and I'll send you a link because I've found more than just theyre own official facebook page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 17:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The proof is in the sound young man! The proof is in the sound. Tell me what you want for third party and I will retrieve it. Though im sure as soon as I give you a third party source, you'll give me some new reason as to why its not valid, in your opinion. Metalstyle (talk) 03:02, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some sources for you listed below. You are right, im new to wikipedia so I dont know how to put sources on there properly. But at the same time, I refuse to become one of those wiki-nazis like yourself and user burningclean. I have a life that does extend past my computer screen. If you knew who I was, you would either A)try and suck upto me big time or B)tell me to give a source for myself to prove who I am. But either way, here are more than enough sources for you.

So you do this while at work? Well then all I can really say is that I cannot wait for the day your supervisor/manager perform his/her annual systems check and sees that in fact, you've been on wikipedia the entire time your actually supposed to be working. It should be a fun day, to bad I wont be able to see it in person. As for pitchfork media, I finally found you a source that fits all of the criteria needed. Third party, published author ect and like I had previously predicted you gave some other hilariuos excuse as to why it doesnt fit your own personal opinion of what "is" and what "isn't".

Hell, it was you who said even if the band claims it themselves it doesnt count. Which, in reality is a complete joke. Its hard to see how you see yourself as having more authority over Opeth than they do themselves. I could get Mikael Akerfeldt on video right now in a personal video message saying Opeth incorporate blues/blues rock into their music and you would STILL try to tell me that it isnt true and that Akerfeldt is not an accurate source for Opeth facts! I could get him to say it, right to your face, and you would tell him right then and there that he is wrong! Its quite funny. Your are not in Opeth, you never were, and you never will be. But I guess taking militia control over the Opeth wikipedia page is your only way into the band right?

As for who I am, no I am not Dave Mustaine and I'm proud of it. But seeing as you regard him so highly it really speaks on your own personal character. "All assholes are alike", thats the saying right? As for Flat String Music. That is not my record label, but a record label that is re-releasing some of my back catalouge and I wanted to make a page for them. Its as simple as that. But of course, it always gets deleted because 99.99999% of the people on here are exactly like yourself and need act like dictators. Someone actually had the balls to tell me Flat String Music did not exist? Can you please tell me, since you know everything, how that is true? Seeing as is I fly up there every couple of months to their offices in Vancouver and talk to their owner/founder for hours at a time? At his desk, with quite an impressive looking Flat String Music logo on the wall behind him? Am I just imagining all of that?

Just to be fair to everyone here on wikipedia. I want sources given for Opeth's incorporation of folk, Scandinavian death metal, progressive rock, progressive metal, jazz and swedish heavy metal. Since blues rock needs a source, it is only fair that all of these have sources as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 02:59, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First thing, I really do not mean to sound like such an asshole...which I know that is 100% what im coming off as. Theres no denying that one. The personal attacks, were not meant as personal attacks. They were simply observations. "WIKI-NAZI" is a "sort-of-real" term used to describe stubborn people on this site who are un-willing to compromise. You ARE one, and so am I. The almighty Stephen Colbert used it serveral times on his show, while talking with the founder of this site. As for Flat String Music, I am only an Artist who has come to an agreement with them to re-release 2 old albums from my band and an old live CD. I am not a current artist of theirs since my band is currently under contract to a California based label called Metal Blade records, im not sure if youre familiar with them or not. I DID say I was the owner/founder just to try and gain some credibility while constructing the page as I knew the real owner wouldn't mind, but in reality I am not. There isnt any point in lying there. Also, yes, I am 100% new to Wikipedia and I honeslty dont really care. I have way to much stuff to be doing most of the time, especially in May, to even bother making one of those profile pages. Im writing all of these messages on a laptop while sharing a shitty bus with 10 other people. (Another band is sharing with us, plus the driver)Wiki-Profiles are to complicated anyways, plus I dont really want my real name on here. Im not famous by any stretch of the word but some people might harass me or something like that, maybe. Also, no I am not rich. Im in a touring prog/metal band - life is rough. Though, Im pretty happy in where my life is heading at the moment and thats all that matters to me.

I did read all of the links you gave me. Some I read better than others, but I gave all of them at least a general glance. I BOLDED THIS SO IT WOULD STAND OUT MORE AND HOPEFULLY YOU'LL ANSWER ME THIS TIME: If blues-rock, in your opinion, needs a source. Then why isnt there sources for any of the other genres? You are the only person who disputed the blues-rock reference so in turn I am going to dispute the other genres until they are sourced as-well. That will make wikipedia a fair place for all users. Since whatever I do, in your opinion, needs to be sourced. Also, the site I provided "Pitch Fork Media" met all of the guidelines I had read so I do not understand why you removed that reference of blues-rock from the site. Though to be fair, all of the other links I gave you did not meet the guidelines and I understand that. I am honestly a HUGE Opeth fan, and I have even recently (2 days ago to be exact) asked members of Opeth what they thought about this subject. (I did not mention a wikipedia "dispute") They all agreed that blues does play a large part in the writing of their music. One integral member said himself (And I actually wrote this down) "Blues is one of my favorite styles of music. I wouldnt say as a whole that we are a blues band. We play death metal for fuck sakes, but I cannot deny those influences on me when I write for the records you know? My solos are really slow and like, emotional if you want to call it that. That is where I add those nice little touches of blues. Its the only place that it could really fit, I think." So you can take that for what its worth. I can name every Opeth song that has a blues/blues-rock guitar solo in it that follows the formula for blues - minor keys and 'diminished' set of scales - if you would like, so you can check them all out for yourself. They are all really special moments in my opinion. Im very passionate about this topic. Everything else on the Opeth wiki-page is top-notch stuff and I should say good work on making it look so good, but this one thing just bugs me.

P.S: In all honesty, since you seem to be a really fucking smart dude (not an insult, I actually meant that) lol. If you do sort of figuere out who I am or anything along "those lines" can you not spread it? I dont think you'll get my name but you might be able to find out who I play for. I dont mind talking with a few people on here but I want to remain pretty low key. Metalstyle (talk) 21:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So what do you think of the new Opeth record? Especially the song Burden? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 21:20, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good to here from you again

[edit]

I guess we both took a year off from this crazy place. I did a few months a travelling with my wife. Then spent a few more months travelling for work. I tried to retire. But couldn't stay out of it too long and seem to be even busier than I ever was before. But I missed reverting vandals and trolls around here so I decided to jump back in with all my anti-vandalism tools firing. I've really been impressed with the upgrades you've done on the Black Sabbath article. I will sit down later and give it a good reading to see if anything leaps out. I see the heavy metal project is still over populated with trolls and weirdos. I had one blocked yesterday and now today it looks like he's avoiding the block with a sockpuppet account. Typical Wikipedia nonsense. I can hardly remember how to do a sockpuppet check. But I suppose I will have to figure it out soon enough. It's good to see old vets like you and M3tal H3ad and Lu_Morgan still plugging away. And I've met a couple of new editors who seem to try and strive for quality over and above their own agendas. Now that I am back I will just have to work away at getting the negative contributors blocked. I can remember looking in during my hiatus and seeing that someone had actually requested a citation for Black Sabbath being a heavy metal band. Wiki still attracts all kinds I guess. I will try and provide some feedback on the Black Sabbath article a little later. Cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 22:50, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Megadeth-These Boots 2002.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Megadeth-These Boots 2002.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cerealkillercover2.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Bill Ward

[edit]

Allow me to introduce myself first: I am Festering Rat Corpse. I heard that you're one of the best metal editors here on Wikipedia. So I come to you with a question. I know that Bill Ward rejoined Black Sabbath for the one-time 1985 reunion, but he was gone by the time that Seventh Star was released. But do you know exactly why he left? His addictions were cured by this point, so I know that's not it. It's not in the article, and I've looked for it everywhere, but noone seems to know. But maybe you do... If you know why Bill left in 1985 (or 1986), then please let me know on my talk page as soon as you read this. Cheers, Festering Rat Corpse (talk) 18:26, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Which software did you use to to get InMistSheWasStanding.ogg. I want to get anoher song for an artist. Thanks--78.160.16.71 (talk) 05:39, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

regarding the opeth page...

[edit]

hello, i'm new to this so i don't know what i'm doing. so, regarding the opeth page, there is a section entitled Musical styles & influences which indicates that there is a citation needed for the fact that their songs do not include a chorus and many lines do not ryhme. this is indeed a fact (generally speaking), but can only be "cited" or whatever by referencing each song's lyrics. it seems to me like this would be pretty impossible to do on wikipedia, especially seeing as how there are some opeth songs which do have some form of verse-chorus-verse structure (particularly on the damnation album). so anyway, i think that this particular part of said article should not have the citation needed thing, because it is pretty much a fact of the band's music, anybody who has heard opeth should know that and anybody who hasn't heard them will probably just assume that wikipedia speaks the absolute truth. haha.

Thanks for uploading Image:UFC42.jpg.

Featured article review of Megadeth

I wanted to let you know I have nominated the Megadeth article for FA review, as it appears to depreciated since it was promoted to featured article. Since you are or have been a contributor to this article, I wanted to inform you of this so that you are aware of the review and can improve the article. Let me know if you have any concerns. Thanks. A tag has been placed on File:Megadeth86.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Megadeth88.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Megadeth88.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Cannibaloki 00:44, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Megadeth86.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Megadeth86.jpg.

Fair use rationale for File:Fuandthensome.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fuandthensome.jpg. Hello, Skeletor2112, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, Cacophonous Records, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! Oo7565 (talk) 18:57, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:OverkillFUoriginal.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:OverkillFUoriginal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —rybec 01:49, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Andy Sneap

[edit]

The article Andy Sneap has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced BLP

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
