What's the story with the references in "Wine bottle nomenclature"?

[edit]

I appreciate your zeal in fixing things, but this reference, http://www.awinestore.com/pages.php?pageid=9&mode=preview#7 , is perfectly valid?! Samfreed 12:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Looks like a commercial site to me and doesn't seem to add anything to the article. As the article does not refer to it its not a reference only an external link. Rich257 12:39, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be the source of much of the info in the article. Samfreed 13:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Notability of George Vasilakos

[edit]

A tag has been placed on George Vasilakos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Gavin Collins 07:50, 18 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Question regarding Cityspace category deletion

[edit]

You recently deleted the Virtual reality categorization of Cityspace article. CitySpace represented an important step in development of Virtual Reality technology, separate from its significance as a virtual reality community. Cityspace has been recognized as such in various Virtual Reality publications including: http://books.google.com/books?id=cwgA9s7NoOoC&pg=RA1-PA462&lpg=RA1-PA462&dq=cityspace+virtual+reality&source=web&ots=R1yLknPanr&sig=Mblhm6ktSe3Wl1EOT6p2NXyygAs Much appreciated if you would double check relevance to virtual reality category.

Cityspace 10:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My reason for doing this was that Category:Virtual reality communities is a sub category of Category:Virtual reality and therefore an article doesn't usually need to go in the parent category as well. If you think that there is a strong need to go in both categories then please add it back. Rich257 08:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
