Welcome

[edit]

Hi, Richard Alpert. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  04:58, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Sockpuppets

[edit]

Can I ask why you are tagging and changing tags of sockpuppets apparently at random? Are you privy to some information I'm not? A little explanation would be nice. Unless you reply on my talk page very soon, I will revert all your changes. J Milburn (talk) 19:20, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are not here to improve the encyclopedia, please stop editing. We are not a free webhost that serves to stroke the egos of trolls, so I will revert your edits. If you continue, I will block you. In the mean time, you're welcome to join us in building the encyclopedia. J Milburn (talk) 19:32, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DENY is the practise of basically ignoring vandals- we've got no interest in giving them some kind of stage for their sillyness. I'm not big on this sockpuppet stuff, and I'm honestly not sure if something needs to be done, so I have started a thread here. I don't know where that will lead, but it may lead to others asking you some questions. You're welcome to post there if you have anything to say. J Milburn (talk) 19:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Edward D. Garza

[edit]

Please do not make statements attacking people or groups of people. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Richard Alpert! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 72 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Howard W. Peak - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. William E. "Bill" Thornton - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
