Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Hi there, I would really like to be able to edit wikipedia/wikimedia!! I understand the reasons for the block of "publicdomainreview", really due to a misunderstanding on my part regarding what was appropriate - as soon as I was informed that what I was doing was not right I ceased all offending activity. My intentions were noble (to improve Wikipedia articles) but I completely understand how it could be seen merely as self-promotion - (and of course I see now that the username was entirely inappropriate). I have truly learnt my lesson and have done my research into proper Wikipedia/Commons conduct! In my job as editor of the offending website 'The Public Domain Review', I work everyday with Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons and am consistently seeing images which I would like to upload and seeing edits that need to be made regarding matters of accuracy and categorisation - for example today I see that on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Alfred_William_Garrett;_William_Alexander_Comyn_Macfarlane;_Gerard_Manley_Hopkins_by_Thomas_C._Bayfield.jpg I could put in the date of death of the photographer and also date the photograph was taken, and I could also suggest a link through to the Wikimedia Commons category, where for some reason it doesn't currently reside. Although of course a lot of my contact with the Wikipedia and WikiCommons is through my job, my activity under this new username would be personal in the sense that it would be in no way promoting The Public Domain Review. I genuinely care about the Wikipedia and the Commons and would just like to make useful contributions.
Accept reason:
I have unblocked this account, to let you request a username change. Please put this request in as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Instructions how to do this are at Wikipedia:Changing username. As Peridon has explained below, the username you suggest is already in use. Since the account was made years ago and has not edited, there should be no objection to having the username transferred to you: the place to do so is Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. However, as Peridon has also said below, you could choose another number instead of 37: for example Freedom38 is available. If you choose a name that is not in use, you should make your application at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. (If you want to check if a username is available, click here, replace "Freedom37" in the box with the name you want to try, click on "go". If the username you have chosen is unregistered, the next username alphabetically will be displayed.) JamesBWatson (talk) 10:08, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There already is an account Freedom37 - started 2007 and never edited. It would be available for usurpation, so far as I can see, but if you're not bothered about 37 as such, it would be esaier to choose another number. You can do that in the template above - click preview instead of save and then click the thing after your name choice to test that one. Peridon (talk) 16:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
