Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Prime Policy Group, and I noticed that your username, "PrimeDC", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.  GILO   A&E 14:03, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a business listing directory or a place for companies to tell the world about themselves.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. Username and COI

[edit]

I blocked your account because Wikipedia accounts are for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them, and accounts whose names are the names of companies or groups are not permitted. Your username may be based on your real name, or not, as you choose (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any other living person. A username of the form "James at PrimeDC" would be acceptable, and would serve to declare your affiliation.

As you are "the website manager for Prime Policy Group", even with an individual username, in any editing to do with Prime, its people, its business or its competitors you would have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and should carefully read that guideline and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In brief, you should not edit directly, but may make suggestions on the article talk page, or submit drafts for review by uninvolved users, using the WP:Articles for creation process. Note that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest in any edits for which you expect to receive remuneration.

Even if the copyright issue were resolved, Wikipedia is not a "notice-board" site like Facebook or LinkedIn, and simply copying the "official" biography does not make a satisfactory |encyclopedia article. Article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Those references are necessary not only to demonstrate notability, but also to provide sources from which an article can be written from an independent point of view. There is good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article. JohnCD (talk) 14:36, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
