A tag has been placed on Penderguy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Penderguy. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Penderguy, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:39, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thank you for providing me with the information. I now have a better understanding of Widipedia's editing and conflict of interest rules. My intention in creating the Pender Guy page was to provide information about a Radio program that I have personal knowledge and involvement. I see now that is in violation of the conflict of interest rule. I do not totally agree with the cited problem of trying to promote a certain group as I have no intention to promote a radio program that no longer exists. The radio program was created in 1976 when I was 24 years old. However, I do accept the fact that I was personally involved with the creation of the Radio program so I accept the COI violation citation.

I recently retired from full-time employment and would like to contribute to the body knowledge about the Chinese-Canadian community using the skills I acquired in my Sociology degree from UBC. This community is a part of the Canadian mosaic and users of Wikipedia may find it helpful if more entries were to be created about them.

I propose to change my username to "Da Peng Chan"

Accept reason:

Renamed and your unblock request is good. Please remember to stay away from direct editing of anything you have a COI with. TonyBallioni (talk) 14:00, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
