License tagging for File:Matrix Corporate Park at Greystone Alabama.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Matrix Corporate Park at Greystone Alabama.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:05, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Glen Nelson (businessman) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.  Velella  Velella Talk   21:01, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your best bet

[edit]

...is to read WP:BIO and WP:RS. Also, if you are being paid to edit (by being an employee of the subject, or by being an outside agent or consultant, or any other way...), you must read WP:TOU where it explains about editing for pay and declaring this. As to sources, letters are no use - they are not usually published. We require published sources as they are accessible and verifiable. Letters are not independent and often not reliable. But sources to establish notability must be reliable and independent. Also, you must use a neutral tone in articles. Yours is far too enthusiastic and promotional - I very nearly added a 'spam' tag. Speedy tags

[edit]

I've replaced the speedy deletion tag because you are the creator of the article and you are not allowed to remove it. You are allowed to give reasons on the talk page for keeping the article, but speedy deletion tags may only be removed by independent editors (and any that appear out of the blue to do that are regarded as 'acting under orders' and the tag gets replaced. (You might be amazed at some of the things we see here. Then again, you might not... I wasn't.) Proposed deletion WP:PROD tags you can remove, but usually the article then goes to WP:AFD, a discussion process. AfD tags may not be removed by anyone until the discussion is closed. Peridon (talk) 22:30, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks for taking the time to explain to me the protocols. I have to laugh when you mention that I might be amazed at some of the things you see there...I can understand that and I recognize this is just standard and I appreciate how you, and I presume other seasoned editors, swiftly assess and respond and maintain the integrity of purpose of Wikipedia.

You all run a very tight ship and I respect that. I think being a newbie editor myself, I will learn a lot from this experience of editing on Wikipedia.

I am wanting to re-create the deleted article about Glen Nelson (businessman) and only add content that is directly from online newspapers for which I can add links to under the references section.

I can add content about his occupation from information written about his position on his company's site.

Can I just go ahead and re-create the article or is there a protocol I need to execute first?

Sincerely, Alex

When you create new threads on talk pages, put a heading inside two pairs of = signs. To indent a reply, use : (or one more : than the previous reply). To sign your post, type ~~~~ which puts your signature and the time stamp on. OK. You can't copy text from outside places. That is (usually) a violation of copyright, even if the source is acknowledged. Stuff that is CC-BY-SA 3.0 licensed may be imported (and it must be acknowledged), and material that is in the public domain may too. This is often misunderstood, as people think that things that are free to read are public domain. In fact, public domain applies to previously copyright material whose copyright has expired (usually about 75 years after the author's death), or which are published by certain entities such as certain US and Indian Government departments. Otherwise, brief (and I mean brief) quotes are permitted where there is a need. Examples would be a witty comment that could not be paraphrased (used as an illustration of someone's style), a Bush- or Berra-ism, or similar - but not a glowing paragraph praising someone or something to the skies. Have a look at WP:PRIMER (which I didn't write but did proofread before it launched). Create a draft at User:PavLDS9/DRAFT (click and save that link) which will be in your user space. There, it only comes under the patrollers for hoax, attack, promo or copyvio. Start by collecting references that fit WP:RS. The NYT (but not the blog section) can be good; The Deadwood and Scrunge Valley Forrester and Mercury wouldn't be any good. The company site should be avoided. In all cases, company sites are not independent, and in many they are not reliable - even for showing existence (I recall a 'multi-national corporation' that on investigation turned out to be a website and a lot of imagination...). Get a basic down to the minimum factual sketch up and referenced, and then have a talk with @MelanieN:. She's very good at helping people build things up. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. DGG ( talk ) 16:16, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Glen Nelson's Helicopter.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Glen Nelson's Helicopter.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
