Color Code

The Color Code is a personality profile that has been around for over 25 years. It was formulated by Dr. Taylor Hartman. If you are going to delete this page, you should also delete the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers_briggs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Goleman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personality_Plus#The_.27Personality_Plus.27_personality_profiles I am sure there are many more, but these should illustrate my point. I was in the process of adding links and references when the article was deleted. If you would kindly reload it, I will finish what I started and I'm sure you will find it in compliance. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TessGlenn (talkcontribs) 15:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

BUES

Hello, why did you delete the BUES page? This is a real organization. Please respond ASAP. Please restore it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BUES (talkcontribs) 20:17, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

NUS Master Of Computing

Hello, Can you kindly tell me what were the reasons for deleting the article NUS Master Of Computing.?? I personally found the article to be extremely useful. But since it was deleted, I was wondering do you have access to the last article before deletion? There's some really important information I would like to retrieve from that article. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! --Nexzusdamus (talk) 17:15, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

Evening, could you please provide me with the reasons for deleting the article The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. Yamanam (talk) 16:55, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

What I deleted was not an article about the book but a redirect to an article that read like an essay. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 18:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Deletion query

Hi there. I am writing as per wiki procedures to enquire as to why the Quality Solicitors Organisation page was removed. My understanding is that simply because a page relates to a company that is not a reason for deleting it. We are an approved company by the UK Ministry of Justice - the government body responsible for legal services in the UK. The organisation is about to undergo its full launch following a previous "soft launch" and will be a significant UK organisation, following which the page is likely to receive significantly higher contributions. A legitimate article about the organisation is to be published on 5th January in the major UK legal publication ("The Lawyer Magazine") describing it as such and as a the UK's "first legal supermarket". Members of the public will have a legitimate interest in discovering more about the organisation. The wiki article is not, I hope, written in anything like a promotional manner and contains a number of references. I certainly struggle to see how it qualifies as "blatant advertising" so as to justify speedy deletion rather than looking at ways of re-writing it. I am happy to look at ways in which the article can be improved/altered in order to fit the wiki criteria. We are also in partnership with Which? which has a wiki page. We are also similar in operation to legalmatch which also has a wiki page which is written in a much more promotional manner. Our service in the UK is also comparable to companies such as uswitch which has a wiki page. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing this further. Many thanks, Delphys50. I'm sorry to hear your experience with Wikipedia has been frustrating. Articles on Wikipedia are deleted according to our Deletion Policy: <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_policy>.

If your article was deleted by an administrator without a discussion, that means the article probably met one of the criteria for Speedy Deletion outlined here: <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion> If your article was speedy deleted, this may be because it was extremely short or because it did not provide information about why its subject was notable enough for inclusion in an encyclopedia.

If your article was deleted under our Proposed Deletion guidelines <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:PROD>, the article was tagged with notification of the proposed deletion for a period of five days, because a nominator believed that it did not meet Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines, and the article was deleted after no user offered an objection to the proposed deletion.

If your article was deleted after a debate on "articles for deletion" (<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion>), it is because members of the community decided that your article was for some reason unsuitable for inclusion; possible reasons include being not verifiable from outside sources, or because it was a page on a person, group, or idea that is not sufficiently well-known for an encyclopedia article.

If you believe after reading the deletion policy that your article was unfairly deleted, you can ask the administrator who deleted the article for a fuller explanation. (You can find out which admin deleted the article by searching for your article title in the deletion log at <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/delete>.) If after an explanation you still believe the deletion was unfair, you can bring up the article at Deletion Review (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review) where the community can take another look to see if the article was deleted in error.

For more guidance on how to write a Wikipedia article, you might find the newcomers' guide to writing Wikipedia articles helpful: <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Your_first_article>

The Tutorial is also a good reference for help on all aspects of Wikipedia editing: <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial>

I hope this helps, and I'm sorry for any trouble this has caused you.

Yours sincerely, Andrew Cartier —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.94.18.223 (talk) 05:56, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Can you delete the talk page also? The talk page and article page were both moved, but I didn't realize I had to put a speedy on both pages. Thank you for putting it out of its misery. --KP Botany (talk) 05:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of LEMspare and article on Stephano Sabetti

I have had several post/responses with administrator Fughetaboutit concerning the article for Stephano Sabetti and the deletion/reinstatement/speedy deletion of not only the article but the user (me).
I understand now, being new to Wikipedia contributions, how and why the article was perceived as blatant advertising. However, I was willing to greatly reduce the sheer magnitude and tone of the article to rectify the situation, and I have rewritten a greatly condensed version that I would like to post.
Though I understand you were within the guidelines to delete the article, I felt it was a bit harsh to block me as a contributor, to not give me an opportunity to fix the problem.
The best I can understand the logs, Fughettaboutit asked for help after reinstating the article, ukexepat suggestied speedy deletion of both the article and user, and you took care of it. Is this correct? Am I "blocked" from trying to resubmit the article? How can I get reinstated? I would be willing to post the article "Under construction" or another way to ask yours and/or Fughettaboutit's okay so the article doesn't just get deleted out of hand at its mere appearance.

As I say, I've greatly minimized the voluminous nature of the work and its tone. If you want, I can also delete all links to his related organizations and affiliations (though I've put them at ther end of the article) and other material, though I see this convention in many other articles. I really wasn't trying to shill for Sabetti's books. Rather, I was trying to show references for the contentions in the article.

Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter. Please help with a suggestion that will allow me to resolve this problemLEMspare (talk) 18:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi Pascal. Thanks for writing to neutral editors suggesting they change to positive on my behalf. It's quite moving to find people that I haven't work with before on WP !voting for me and saying nice things. Unfortunately this has caused some people to go from neutral to oppose. They think I instigated canvassing. Just to let you know, and if you want to intervene again we could discuss it first. Itsmejudith (talk) 23:38, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

?!?!!? Color me confused. How can anyone misinterpret a bland invitation to return to the debate as canvassing? I have no stake in this! Sorry, I did not mean for this to turn against you: I just wanted to make the RfA more clear-cut one way or the other to avoid headaches for bureaucrats... Pascal.Tesson (talk) 00:16, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Out of left field opinion: Rest assured that no rational editor thinks you canvassed, or did anything wrong. It's a shame, and bizarre, that people are opposing Itsmejudith based on something she had nothing to do with, but even after seeing something similar happen in response to Moreschi, I still would never have believed people would react this way to your note until I saw it happen. It will be interesting to see if the closing 'crat uses his discretion with some of these "oppose because of Pascal" or "oppose because of Moreschi" votes. --barneca (talk) 01:04, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Note

My diffs don't prove that you two are connected. It just shows where the only significant overlap is. You could easily see it as more of a defense than nothing. It is still information that is interesting for interesting's sake. : ) Ottava Rima (talk) 01:03, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better.

Makinson

Hi Pascal,

How confident are you that "Richard Makinson" is the most common name used for this guy? I've never heard of him, but the google scholar results for "REB Makinson"[2] are much higher than for "Richard Makinson"[3]. I usually find Google scholar results to be pretty reliable for academics.--Kubigula (talk) 01:21, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the two searches above show precisely that "Richard Makinson" is the rigth choice. The first search has "REB Makinson" appearing in bibliographies which is clearly irrelevant. However, the second search provides definitive evidence that works discussing Makinson himself, rather than Makinson's work, use "Richard Makinson". This is also the case in the list of references currently used in the article. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 18:09, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

CSD

Just because an article has been around for a long time does not mean that it is exempt from speedy deletion. It doesn't matter if it's been there for six months or six years, if it meets WP:SPEEDY, then it can BE speedied. (Anyway, they haven't even been around for three years.) Likewise, I wasn't nominating The Ataris, I was nominating two of their songs, Teenage Riot (song) and Summer Wind Was Always Our Song, neither of which meet WP:SONG. I'll be Prodding them now, anyway. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 03:56, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

smartfundit

Please can you explain why you have deleted the smartfundit page. You have marked it as blatent advertising when actually the page was an informative, impartial account of a business and was structured in a similar design to the likes of Apple inc. and SalesForce.com - are you now going to go and highlight these pages for deletion also? Please restore this page as it is incorrect to class it as advertising when it is a factual account of the history of the business. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.152.24.18 (talk) 10:06, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

The page was actually blatantly promotional in tone. An article about that company may be acceptable (see this guideline) but it has to be written objectively and based on third-party coverage. Moreover, the article should be written by an editor who isn't involved with the company. You can get more info at Wikipedia:FAQ/Business. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:11, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

StrabaneGolf Club

You deleted my page, I wasn't trying to advertise the golf club, only putting information on here. It is the centenary of the club this year and I hoped to put details of our history on here. It's my first attempt at this. Augusta Golf Club [[4]], St Andrews Links [[5]], have an entry, so I thought I could put my home course on here also. adminship

I'm flattered by your suggestion, but really don't feel ready to RfA at this time. There are a lot of policies that I haven't learned yet, a lot of burning issues that I don't have opinions on yet, and I dread finding out what random strangers think about me and my edits.

I'm sorry if my numerous CSDs are making work for you and other admins, but making me an admin might not help you there. I'm not sure I'd use the delete button even if I had it. I see value in the multistep process I use now and appreciate having an admin double-checking my CSD calls. And while I can see that access to deleted page history would be a handy tool, it doesn't seem worth the pain (or whatever you call it) involved in getting it.

For now, my answer is "no thanks." Of course, it's quite possible that I'll feel differently in another year or two.

Best regards, -Stepheng3 (talk) 04:44, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I know I'm competent at the things I've been doing for the past six months. That doesn't mean that my RfA would achieve what Wikipedia calls "consensus" easily. I've seen how RfA works in practice. The effort required to make a credible attempt doesn't seem worth the benefits.
I don't wish to have my character publicly judged or to be labelled "deletionist" or "inclusionist." I don't wish to rehash every editing conflict I've ever had, or to analyze my own weaknesses as an editor. And I don't give a fig about the difference between a block and a ban. I leave all that to braver souls.
I'm happy doing what I do with the tools at hand. If that ever changes, I may ask you for those pointers you offered. Thanks, - Stepheng3 (talk) 01:52, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Category deleted

You deleted The Category:Unassessed importance chess articles because it was empty. This category is useful to the WP:CHESS project. We put a tag on the talk page of articles, and ones that have not been accessed automatically go in this category. It helps us see if any articles have been added without the importance assessed. Can you restore it? Thanks, Bubba73 (talk), 01:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree with Bubba73, the Wikipedia:WikiProject Chess needs this page. Please revert your deletion. SyG (talk) 12:11, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello. What I deleted is the category Category:Unassessed importance chess articles which isn't used anymore. The whole thing was moved to Category:Unknown-importance chess articles about two years ago and the "Unassessed" became a cat redirect. All the relevant templates have been updated so there's no need to keep the deprecated category around. I'm not sure if these explanations are clear but let me know if you have questions. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 15:52, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Restore cat, please

Hi Pascal, can you kindly restore Category:Unassessed-Class equine articles? This is where members of WikiProject Equine find articles that have been tagged but not assessed. We HOPE is is usually empty, as we go through it fairly regularly. Thanks. Montanabw(talk) 22:18, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Actually, that category was moved to Category:Unassessed equine articles which serves the same purpose, hence the deletion. Let me know if you have any problems with outdated templates but it's supposed to be ok. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 23:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
OK, do the links match up at WP:EQUINE's main page so that we can find it? Montanabw(talk) 23:38, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes, all of these links go through the {{cat class}} template so they should be ok. I double checked that a) the cat was empty at the time of deletion and b) the "What links here" was empty. So it should be all good and had you not had the category on your watchlist, you probably would never have noticed because these categories are only populated through the templates and never manually. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 00:35, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Ooops, apparently I messed up. There was one link remaining. Note also that the bot work logged in the template {{Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Equine articles by quality log}} still uses the old name but it will still populate the right category. I suppose you can ask the bot operator to change that if it causes confusion. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 00:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I left confusion behind a long time ago, I'm now catatonic! LOL! Montanabw(talk) 02:49, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I recieved the notice of it being too promotional in nature, but I was in the process of finding more sources and correcting some of the content to change this. Can I request for the content to be either emailed to me or placed back on line for me to edit? Can you also provide some guidelines around what I should include to ensure this doesn't happen again. Deletion

After being encouraged to contribute information to Wikipedia, I viewed existing pages of similar businesses to get an idea of the expectations. I modeled my first article about a legitimate business after businesses already listed on wiki. My article was deleted for being "blatant advertising." Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding. I will not bother to continue with this process, but wanted to bring the disparity in standards to someone's attention. Re. Shmede/Brown Town nonsense

Hi Pascal.Tesson. Yes this seems to be true, I brought it up a while ago with an admin here who advised me to add a User ID to my user page, which I did. I also changed my password at the time, and did again when I noticed that my user had been used to edit the page.

I believe the problem has arisen from my internet browser Firefox, whereby I programmed it to remember all passwords through the use of one password. So if I entered the password to access my email for example, I wouldn't need to enter the password anymore; so if I left my laptop alone for a while, my Wikipedia account would be able to be accessed without the need for a password. I believed that this would be okay seen as my laptop was only accessed by the rest of my family, however I seem to be wrong.

I have since removed the option to remember passwords on Firefox, to increase the security, and wherever possible I sign out of Wikipedia when I leave my laptop, as well as locking it. I am now back at university until the summer, so my brother will not have access to my laptop. Regards, Schumi555 (talk) 07:27, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

DELETION

I spent hours entering a client's biography, as several people have wondered why it is not there. I added his organizations to the page - as he was the founder and CEO, as well as a noted, published (documentable) author, and then found it was suddenly deleted as blatant advertising. I took special care to make sure the content (from the organization's websites) were not promoting them, but stated in a way that sounded journalistic - only to find my pages were immediately deleted. Please advise! This took so long, and I was not trying to advertise!! User:JeyAssociates (talk) 13:29, 12 Mar 2009 (UTC)

"a thought leader in the field"? That's not trying to advertise? Those were spam, not articles. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:48, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't think anyone can argue that these articles were not spam. Orangemike gave an example above and I could add nuggets like "To learn more visit the Strategyn Institute website" or "dedicated to providing executives [...] [what] they need to make Strategyn’s Outcome-Driven Innovation® methodology the driving force behind their company’s innovation efforts." In any case, writing articles for your clients is not a good idea as it puts you in an obvious Wiki-related conflict of interest. By the way, an article already exists on Anthony Ulwick. It's brief but it's factual. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:19, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Project Eight deletion

Special situations advisory

Hi, I began to create a page on "Special situations advisory" which was deleted because appeared to be "blatant advertising".

I am new to this so apologies if my entry appeared such. The URL reference I included was for reference/citation purposes. The URL site is also not selling any services but is for information purposes.

I was also planning to add more information but did not have time to include before it was deleted.

I would like to reedit this section as believe this topic is quite important in the current economic climate.

For your information - special situations advisory is a combination of corporate finance, restructuring, operational improvement and debt advice. Given more businesses are becoming distressed (particularly due to cash flow problems or overleveraging)they are more frequently being advised by special situations advisors.

Hope you will allow me the chance to edit this section and provide more details and URL references where necessary.

Kind regards Anupanup99 (talk) 19:59, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok. Here's what I suggest: first make sure that a separate article is really needed (as opposed to complementing existing articles). Then recreate this article and work on it in your user namespace say by creating User:Anupanup99/Special_situations_advisory. Build it first with some substantial content and then you can transfer it to the main article space (let me know if you need help with that). Pascal.Tesson (talk) 22:12, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

West Allis Rotary

Sir you have deleted this page about the West Allis Rotary. This is my first post in Wikipedia. What exactly are you looking for. I pretty much tried to use the same format as other Rotary Clubs on Wikipedia. I will make changes where necessary and to learn from that. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tkirchenberg (talkcontribs) 21:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Are there really that many articles on specific Rotary Clubs on Wikipedia? The only one I can find is Rotary Club of North Bay, Ontario and this article should probably also be deleted. The problem is that very little third-party information is available for these clubs and the corresponding articles end up looking like brochures that give info about the club's next golf tournament or charity dinner. The other problem is that these articles are also written and maintained by members and this creates a Wiki-related conflict of interest. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 22:23, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

What makes "Rottrevore" a notable band? Cannibaloki 17:02, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

If you think it meets WP:BAND... Cannibaloki 17:42, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Rottrevore

A tag has been placed on Rottrevore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Filename (Commons)

Could you please give me the name of the Commons-version of File:Mozilla XPInstall confirm dialog.png of which you have deleted recently? We have a copy of that image in the Hungarian Wikipedia. - Xbspiro (talk) 11:19, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

I've restored the image since it was deleted on Commons. But in fact, unless the image is used in some significant way in an article, it should be deleted since Windows screenshots are not public-domain images. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:10, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! Regarding to our deletion policy, we have to sign if the deletion candidate is available on Commons. Since we do not use this one in our wiki, I have planned to request its deletion anyway. - Xbspiro (talk) 13:03, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of "Contemporary Whitehead Studies"

Hi Pascal, a while ago (Match 12) you removed the "Contemporary Whitehead Studies" page because of copyright issues. I used some text from http://whiteheadresearch.org with permission from the owner/creator of that page. I've now mailed permissions-en@wikimedia.org a copy of the signed wikipedia permission statement, but received no response. I've also left a note here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Contemporary_Whitehead_Studies. How to proceed? Thanks. Eric9876 (talk) 13:37, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

(late response) It's somewhat odd that you got no response, I was under the impression that these guys are fairly efficient about these things. Did you go through OTRS? In any case, I suggest you first work on the article in your user space. For instance, you can create the article User:Eric9876/Contemporary Whitehead Studies and see how best to incorporate that content. I've just checked the content I deleted and, the copyright question notwithstanding, I'm somewhat concerned that the tone is too promotional for Wikipedia and the article may very well get deleted on these grounds. Let me know if you want some advice on how to go about it all. Imperfect though it may be, you might also want to take a look at the so called "notability guideline". Speedy deletion of Wikijob

Hi there, I'd like to discuss your speedy deletion of the Wikijob article as blatant advertising. From what I can tell, although the article may have started off as a blatant advert, the subject appears to meet our criteria for notability and verifiability now. You might already be aware of this, but this article was speedy deleted before, and consensus found to overturn the speedy deletion. To be specific, an AFD was raised on 5th August 2008, which was ended prematurely and the article speedy deleted despite a leaning towards keep. A DRV was then raised, and consensus reached to overturn the speedy deletion and relist at AFD. At the subsequent AFD, no consensus was found to delete. To me this suggests that the article cannot have been blatant advertising, although it could still be a candidate for a deletion discussion. I recognise that both policy and consensus can change, and there may be perfectly good reasons to delete this article now, but I think that taking this to AFD might have been more appropriate than a speedy deletion. The article was by no means perfect, but I know that a number of users (including myself) have been watching it closely to make sure no unsourced promotional stuff sneaks its way in there, and have tried to weed out any opinion or unverifiable claims. If you still feel the article should be deleted, may I politely suggest restoring it and taking it to AFD so that we can measure consensus? Thanks, Wiw8 (talk) 09:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok. Restored the page but it needs serious work. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 15:28, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

deletion of BY2 duo band

ITS NOT PROMOTING THE MUSICIANS, BUT PROVIDING MORE INFOS ON THEM. THAT IS WHAT ENCYCLOPEDIAS ARE. I MEAN YOU CAN WIKI UP MICHAEL JACKSON OR SOMEONE ELSE DOESN'T IT? SO WHY CANT I CREATE ONE ON THE SINGERS BY2?? ITS UNFAIR YOU SEE MY ARTICLE AS SOMETHING NOT ALLOWED FOR WIKIPEDIA. SHOULDNT YOU AT LEAST LEAVE ME A MESSAGE TO ASK ME TO REMOVE INSTEAD OF JUST ADDING A SPEEDY DELETION? YOUR GESTURE IS JUST RUDE. I HOPE YOU CAN RETURN ME MY ARTICLE BECAUSE I HAVE SPENT TIME AND EFFORT ON IT, YOU DO NOT JUST DELETE IT WHEN YOU THINK ITS UNSUITABLE FOR WIKIPEDIA AS YOU HAVE JUST THROWN MY EFFORTS DOWN THE DRAIN. TO ALL DUE RESPECT, I BELIEVE THAT THE ARTICLE IS USEFUL AND HAS NOTHING "SELF-BENEFICIAL". ITS TOTALLY INTENDED TO GIVE AUDIENCE MORE INFOS. MAYBE ITS THE FIRST TIME IM UPLOADING STUFFS ON WIKIPEDIA, BUT I THINK THAT ITS REALLY USEFUL. I SEE THE WAY HOW OTHER MUSICIANS ARE DESCRIBED IN THEIR ARTICLES SO I DID IT THE SAME WAY. I DONT SEE YOU DELETING THE ARTICLE ON MICHAEL JACKSON?? THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BY2 AND MICHAEL JACKSON IS THAT MJ IS MORE FAMOUS? WHICH IS MAYBE WHY U ONLY DELETED MINE? PLEASE RETURN ME MY ARTICLE IRREGARDLESS IF IT IS STILL BEING UPLOADED AGAIN, BECAUSE THEY ARE BASICALLY "MY EFFORTS". YOU MAY EDIT WHERE NECESSARY WHICH YOU THINK SUITS THE STANDARD AND CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR WIKIPEDIA. THANK YOU.

I can here you fine without the CAPSLOCK, the accusations of racism or the Nazi comparisons. The article was spam, I deleted it. There's no problem with recreating the article using a neutral tone and reliable sources. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:03, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Clarification

I wonder if you could take a look at Skateimpact for me. It appears to have been "deleted" following a discussion (lack of reliable sources, lack of notability etc.) but it's still visible (I found it through the New pages patrol). I've tagged it with db-xfd (I've been less zealous with the db tags since your last message!) but I'm not sure I've done the right thing or whether this will bring it to the attention of the proper people! If you'd take a look and take the required action, I would be very grateful. Many Thanks, HJ Mitchell (talk) 02:19, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Wikpedia Is Not A Game Guide

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:PoxNora

IF Wikipedia is not a game guide, why does Magic The Gathering have a page on Wikipedia entirely devoted to rules? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic:_The_Gathering_rules Just curious, because that page is CLEARLY a "game guide" yet a lesser known game can't do something similar? :) Thanks. CSD Tags

I apologise if I've caused you any extra work with my tags, but I felt that one was justified. Admittedly, one can just about work out what its subject is from the infoboxes, though the title and intro still make it rather ambiguous. I would have thought that it would have satisfied CSD G2, A1, A7 and possibly G11 or G12, though I don't doubt your knowledge of the CSD far exceeds mine. I only tend to use the CSD tags for articles that appear to fulfil more than one of the criteria. What would prospects be, if you were to make an educated guess, at AfD? Regards, HJ Mitchell (talk) 21:12, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Hahaha! I like you! Straight to the point- it inspires confidence! Under normal circumstances, I'd be happy to merge it into a better article, though, in this case, I have a hunch that it'd be reverted pretty quickly! I could bring myself to do the editing but I've no interest in starting an edit war with (insert wrestler- sounding name) over it, on that, I certainly could find better things to do! Until the next time, HJ Mitchell (talk) 02:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Lyle123 seems to have returned.

At least he's easy to spot. The latest is User:DreamWorksProfessorMovie666. I've requested a CU since I believe it's time for a rangeblock. Anyway, I remembered seeing your request to be notified on the LTA page, so here you go. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:37, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I sure did. He usually logs on during my late night, around 11:00. If I'm up, I try to log on and search for a really obvious Lyle. What a weird little person. Those naming conventions of his are painfully obvious. Speaking of "painfully obvious:" Please, please tell me that someone is working on a MascotGuy bot. His socks are like shooting fish in a barrel. See WP:LTA/MG to see what I mean. This guy absolutely, positively needs a bot since his naming conventions are equally obvious. I've listed all of his mst common naming conventions on the abuse page. They apply to 99% of all his socks. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:34, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw that...nuts. If rangeblocks are out of the question, then maybe it's time to investigate the possibility of creating a filter for the usernames. It would help with a lot of chronic attacks. Anything is better than playing whack-a-mole with some whack job in San Diego. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello. It was deleted because it was a copyright violation, not because the group is illegitimate (whatever that means). My RfA

Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record.
I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. As much as the support I received, those comments are hopefully going to allow me to be a better contributor to the project. Thank you. Very much. LessHeard vanU (talk) 18:52, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I know that the category was deleted under the reasoning that Wikipedia does not classify characters as villains per POV, but "Disney Villains" is a Disney franchise. Deletion for Alasdair Tait

Hello Pascal! Back in early February, you speedily deleted Alasdair Tait. At the time I had not logged in at Wikipedia fpr a while (not edited since August 2008). A few hours ago, I logged in to make a single edit and saw the nominator's message on my talk page. If you read my reply to him you'll see that initially, I thought it was indeed copyright infringement. But then, out of happenstance my eye caught a glimpse of the bottom of the alleged "source", this Cellist.nl page. It says there Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alasdair_Tait". In view of this I am asking for this page to be restored. As I haven't worked with Wikipedia for a while, I am a bit rusty on the procedures, but I think since you were the administrator who originally deleted the page, you can do that or if not point me in the right direction? However, as I am still not really returning as an editor, any further action on my part would be at a very slow pace. Cheers, --Atavi (talk) 00:23, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Since I saw that your last contribution was on June 19, I looked for the deletion review process and filed a case. I saw there that communicating with you was actually the recommended first action. Anyway here it is:

"United States elections"

There is no such thing, all officers (including the President) are elected by the states, there are lots of good articles on "United States presidential elections, XXXX," Senate, House, State and other elections. These articles, I tagged are FACTUALLY WRONG, SILLY (G1), EMPTY (A3) and REDUNDANT (if meant to join other articles). They should definitely be speedily deleted, there is no debate necessary, it is obvious.Kraxler (talk) 21:49, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Please don't worry about incoming red links. Wikipedia is full of them. If something is "patent nonsense" (and the articles I tagged are) it should be deleted. We must avoid the proliferation of trash, so that it remains possible to find INFO on WP. Anyway, there are no federal elections in the U.S., and a listing of all state, city, county, regional elections under this title is misleading and useless.Kraxler (talk) 22:06, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
DO NOT UNTAG THE ARTICLES WITHOUT DEBATE! Criterion "No Content" (A3) is blatant in most of them!!!!!!! Kraxler (talk) 22:11, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Follow the instructions of the tag: State on the talk pages why the article should not be deleted, addressing the issues "patent nonsense" and "no content". (Either one would be enough to delete.) Kraxler (talk) 22:30, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Your comments on Chamal N's RfA

Pascal, I don't believe your tone, your hounding, your dismissal of opposes and your overall aggressive stance are any better in terms of "approaching RfA". Part of the problem is also the compulsion some people, you included, appear to have to demean, belittle, discard or outright try actively to invalidate any opposes they do not like.

If RfA is just a vote, such attitudes are pointless. If it's a discussion, outshouting and booing the opposition is a horrible way to conduct a discussion. I don't see what you mean to achieve, I'm however quite certain based on past observation that this kind of bullying tends to be detrimental rather than beneficial to most candidates.

If I do not trust the judgment of a candidate at the time of the RfA, I oppose. As simple as that. I don't need a lecture on how I'm further breaking RfA because you don't like it. I assure you I can cast a vote without someone else dictating how I should weigh my rationale. In particular not for as long as the light-weight support rationales aren't equally challenged (and don't give me the "opposes count for three times as much so they have to be argued to death until they recant or shut up" red herring).

The net result of your intervention? I had been pondering switching to neutral for a while. I find that although I'm perfectly aware of the psychological mechanisms at play, I'm a lot less likely to do so now. Perhaps you can take this into account the next time you lash out and talk about "net negative". Or, of course, you could refactor your comments (all of them) to take out the bite and the personal attacks. Your choice. MLauba (talk) 09:01, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Are you saying that the removal of your oppose rests on whether I'm being a dick or not? That sounds pretty lame. I stand by what I said and if people want to sulk, so be it. But had people not stood up to dubious oppose rationales, RfA would still be plagued by "no need for tools". People forget too easily that we need admins, even imperfect ones, to keep this project going. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm saying that by you being a dick, you reinforce people in their previous opinions because they feel the need to save face, a mechanism I'm perfectly aware of myself yet still feel subjected to. If you feel that lack of confidence in a candidate's judgment is a dubious oppose, there's little point in extending this conversation any further, in particular since you seem perfectly unable to interact with others without resorting to personal attacks on this topic.
What we need is admins with good judgment, and sufficient wisdom to seek advice when an issue is out of their depth. That will keep the project going AND prevent both abuse but also otherwise honest mistakes which would have been entirely avoidable by deferring to someone else.
I don't vote often at RfA, but for instance my very first interaction with User:Ched Davis was when I noticed him placing a CSD A7 on an article about a French philosopher and professor. The article made a clear claim of importance, but was wholly unsourced. I wholeheartedly supported Ched at his RfA a couple of weeks later, though. Why? Because immediately after placing the tag, he posted on User:SoWhy's talk page asking for a review and comment on the tagging. He had the wisdom to recognize areas he had difficulties and ask for a review. I don't see that quality in the candidate yet. And back to the point, I feel your constant bullying distracts me from forming a correct and complete picture of the candidate.
So to answer your initial question in a roundabout manner, yes, based on his absolutely honest, good natured, optimistic and good faith attempt of making up a process instead of just going "Oops, can of worms, I'm not confident in this particular area and will defer to project XYZ", I believe he is probably, at present, a net negative. Not by a wide margin, mind you. But he's answering on a 7-day long interview, during which he has the time he needs to build the responses that will convince his audience. How will he handle tricky issues when he's working down a 400 entries long backlog? Why would I believe he would handle those better? MLauba (talk) 19:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

response re RFA Talk comment

I was trying to be clear, but obviously failed. You and I are on the same page regarding the RfA promotion issue – whether or not the current bar is at the exact right level may be open to debate, but the level required to keep the admin count constant, which means lowering it enough to include 46 admins who otherwise weren’t approved, would be clearly too low. I didn’t do an exact count, but I think if you throw out withdrawn and SNOW, you’d be left with not much more than 46. I don’t think anyone would argue we should promote virtually everyone who passes the laugh test, therefore, if there’s a problem, it is something else. That doesn’t mean the bar shouldn’t be criticized, it means in the context of an absolute drop in admins, tinkering with the bar won’t solve the problem.SPhilbrickT 13:37, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

SEAF

Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF) was deleted because of copyright infringement and advertising. I've e-mailed the rights to the website that has been copied (a website I have ownership of) to Permissions [permissions@wikimedia.org] a few times, and they keep saying they'll take care of it. Is there anywhere else I should be sending it, or are they correct that the copyright issue should have been taken care of? I've also tried rewording/rewriting the article so that it satisfies the criteria that you're hoping for to make it more "encyclopedic." I'm having trouble finding advice for how to do that on wiki. I'm going to try publishing it again with some changes I've made to neutralize it, but I'm worried it will be deleted again since I'm not really sure what the expectations are. Any advice you could give would be much appreciated! Thanks, --Carcells (talk) 20:17, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

The article Zerosumfree monoid has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A google book search found not hits for "Zerosumfree monoid" or "Zerosum free monoid" fails WP:N and WP:V

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jeepday (talk) 15:03, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Rocket Vinyasa Yoga

hi

This page was deleted because of advertising and copyright. The copyright belongs to us, but I did not get back on this soon enough. I guess the advertising was referring to books on the subject, but I see this under other styles of yoga, so did the same. This is a yoga practice that is well known and respected. The article is completed deleted and I can not find a version back to work from... can you tell me where I can find a version back to recreate? And what I should leave off to avoid the 'advertising' claim? Thank you! conrtibutor —Preceding unsigned comment added by BarbaraRoll (talkcontribs) 10:39, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

MCA Romania - The Center for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism in Romania

In 2007 a page presenting MCA Romania was created. It was deleted. MCA Romania is an NGO and the only one in Romania dealing with the antisemitism in that country. MCA Romania does not conduct commercial activities and does not raise funds: so what you named "advertising" does not apply in this case. The page was writen by the same person that writes this message: MCA's funder. More about MCA can be seen at www.antisemitism.ro So how do we correct this situation?

Could you undelete this article and put it in my userspace? I see that the author requested deletion, but I don't know why. It seemed like a good enough start to me. Thanks, shoy (reactions) 18:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pascal, I saw your note on my talk. The article is fine, but the author of the article insists on the aluminum spelling versus the convention we have adopted (for good reason) for chemistry-related articles (see WP:CHEMMOS & WP:SULF). Perhaps because he did not get his way, he requested that the article he pretty much created, be deleted. I see you've now restored the page. If he does ask that the article be deleted again, I suggest userfying to Shoy's space. Apart from that, I see no further action needed. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 00:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

The article Theory of Computing (journal) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Journal without any indication of notability; apparently not indexed anywhere. Does not meet WP:Notability (academic journals).

Crusio (talk) 12:39, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Pascal.Tesson! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 81 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Jeremy Smith (musician) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks for your RfA Support

Pascal.Tesson/Archive 21 - Thanks for your participation and support in my recent successful RfA. Your confidence and trust in me is much appreciated. Orphaned non-free image File:Allen-Jackan-Johannson-Scoop.jpg

Cufc.jpg

You deleted my image. Why? You said copyright. But how is it copyright if the image is MINE? Yes, the image is used on the Charlestown Website, but where do you think the image came from? There are 3 other images on their homepage which I took with MY CAMERA, and hence they have in fact, taken from me, but I don't care they are using my images. The picture is physically mine. I even have the shirt that I took the picture of the badge from, what's the problem? Juzzi0 (talk) 03:34, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

It was deleted because there is no credible assertion that you owned the copyright. Simply saying it's yours is not enough. It was found on a website that does not credit you as the image copyright owner. --AussieLegend (talk) 09:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Allen-Jackan-Johannson-Scoop.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Allen-Jackan-Johannson-Scoop.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:42, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

L-13 Light Industrial Workshop

Hi, you deleted the page L-13 Light Industrial Workshop citing that it was unambiguous advertising. I'd like to make a page for the gallery as the previous incarnation of the gallery, The Aquarium, has it's own page but there have been new developments and exhibitions at the new site relating to popular artist Billy Childish. The gallery was also founded by a group of artists as a collaborative effort, and many of these have their own wiki pages (Harry Cauty, Jamie Reid and Billy Childish included). If I were to write the page in a similar format to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aquarium_L-13 would it be OK? Or would you still see it fit for deletion?

Thanks in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Radiatorheadchild (talkcontribs) 10:35, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Deleted Chris Spicer page

I need to create the page below. I have contributed to numerous well-cited MMA fighter pages and wish to do the same for Chris Spicer. Please re-instate this page, thank you.

Udaya Dharmawardhana

You have deleted the article about Udaya Dharmawardhana considering it as an advertisement... But he is one of the directors of Sri Lankan Film How I Wonder What You Are, which is notable even than most of other Sri Lankan film because it claims to be the first "Low budget" feature length film produced in Sri Lanka.. Here's more links to prove validity of subject.

FYI, Oxeon, which you speedied, is alive again. It was created and then recreated by user account "Donald Draper," an admitted employee of the company. He recreated another spam article that was speedied by another editor. I've raised the issue on the COI noticeboard here, but given the scope of this user's behavior, including use of a sockpuppet, I'm not sure that's the appropriate venue.
