Commercial use of Image:Laos pol93.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Laos pol93.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Laos pol93.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Laos pol93.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 05:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Laos new.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Laos new.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. March 2008

[edit]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Laos new.gif. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. This has been recreated by you for at least a year and has been recreated by another account since 2006. If you continue to upload this image without proper copyright information it will be immediately deleted and you will be blocked! Doug.(talk contribs) 17:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lao administrative structure

[edit]

I just stumbled upon your edits of Kaysone Phomvihane (district) and so I wonder if you are from Laos and maybe know a bit on the administrative subdivisions there. I have done quite a lot on the provinces and districts in Thailand, yet for Laos there's just very few on Wikipedia. It's very difficult to find English sources on the provinces/districts of Laos, so both the abolishment of Xaisomboun or the rename of Kaysone Phomvihane only make it here long after they were effective. So it would be great if you could add more background information on these administrative structures. andy (talk) 16:12, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ulan Bator vs Ulaanbaatar

[edit]

It was a long discussion about the proper article naming. It was no consensus in this question. But nobody can claim the "Ulan Bator" name absence in English - read this discussion and you will find arguments pro and contra. But everybody who knows the history of the question can understand that "Ulan Bator" was introduced via Russian "Улан-Батор" before the Cyrillic alphabet was introduced in Mongolia and so before "Улаанбаатар" appeared. "Ulaanbaatar" is Cyrillic (and only Cyrillic) script romanization, isn't it? So Ulan Bator is correct traditional English name (as Moscow or Kiev), but Ulaanbaatar is correct modern Mongolian script romanization (as Moskva, Kyiv). This kind of behaviour with articles moving is not correct, I guess.Bogomolov.PL (talk) 14:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be intimidated by the comments of this guy. Ulaanbaatar is still the correct name of the capital of Mongolia. The guy can't produce any source to point out that Ulaanbaatar should be ruled out, while there are tons of sources in favor of Ulaanbaatar. Thank you for your participation. --GenuineMongol (talk) 04:02, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question. Where did you find Image:Suchart Thadathamrongvej.jpg? It's a little unusual to have official-looking portraits like that. If it's from the Thailand government website, it's probably public domain anyways so that's not a big concern. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:05, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I know it's probably public domain but you aren't the source for the copyright so that specific license is wrong. I've asked at Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions#Thailand_government_images and we should have the correct license tag. No difference but on a source level. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:55, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
