Genocide Convention
[edit]Hello. I removed the external link because I added the text of the Convention to Wikisource - Wikisource:Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide - making the external URL redundant. Neutralitytalk 23:06, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
External links in Hypertext fiction
[edit]Hi Muthutch, I have given valid policy based reasons for removing the external links in Hypertext fiction. Wikipedia is not a collection or repository of external links or examples of works. This page had been tagged as needing external link cleanup since 2010 and someone had to step in and do it. I have removed the links again and given more detailed reasons for each one, please do not replace them. Also please note that just because a link is working does not mean it should be kept and it is not Wikipedias job to act as an archive or directory for such links. If you would like me to go into more details on my reasoning for removing the links then let me know. Sarahj2107 (talk) 08:29, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Sarahj2107. The various policies on external links are not a flat prohibition. Each policy requires a balance. A link to a live example of the subject of the page Hypertext fiction should be treated differently than an external link which supports a single point in an article. If you wish to move the external links to the External links section, I'd have no objection. And if you've found stale links that no longer resolve, remove them by all means. But to remove all extant links which provide living examples of hypertext fiction strips the page of value to the user. Would you like to restore the links, moving them to the external links section, or would you like me to do so? Muthutch (talk) 16:14, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Sarahj2107. In the absence of your objection to my proposal to move the external links to the external links section of the page, I will implement it. Muthutch (talk) 19:21, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
