Deletion

[edit]

sorry prove a point? there is no notability to these articles, and i can see no possible argument to the contray, if an admin disagrees then can feel free to change it to an Afd tag, i'm doing wiki a service by recommending for deletion articles that are jus taking up space, most of which are likely done as school ICT projects. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.26.106.254 (talkcontribs) .

No admin required - any editor can remove the tags - so if YOU want the articles removed, it's upto YOU to AFD them. --Charlesknight 23:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In the past similar schools were put up for Afd and Keep was the outcome because there is not a consensus to delete. The Afd were sometimes heated discussions leaving some users with bad feeling. I see no reason to repeat these Afd on schools when the outcome is likely to be the same. For this reason I request that you please stop nominating them for deletion. --FloNight 02:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mr. Stephen :-) Sorry if my comment here was confusing. I did hijack your user talk to leave a comment related to deletion of school articles. Thanks for letting me borrow it to quickly communicate my thoughts. I'll follow up better in more appropriate places later today. Take care, FloNight 14:49, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Stephen, I was correct. Oswald Avery really did invent the Chunnel Tube, and was deeply involved in anal intercourse. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.165.142.138 (talkcontribs).

anti vandalism

[edit]

Not sure how to award a barnstar, but thanks anyway for your good work in pursuing 82.26.106.254 who seems to want to eliminate every school-related article on Wiki! What did his teachers do to him I wonder? I think this is not the first time it has happened. If he wants to debate, he should get a username and make himself contactable. School details can be of general use, in fact I have just had to do a number of biographical corrections for a leading political figure because of a misunderstanding due to the lack of web-accessible school history. Oswald Avery vandals

[edit]

No problem. I've got the Oswald Avery page on my watchlist, and am keeping an eye on the three IPs so far. Some sort of tag-team vandalism going on. My guess would be a group of kids in a school computer hall. Whoever they are, they are fast working their way through all the warnings, and the block-bat will come out if they keep going after the Final Warnings. :) - TexasAndroid 20:35, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Message

[edit]

Pardon me, but I am not the one who is undoing someone else's edits repeatedly - "Kolindigo" is! (Or are YOU Kolindigo?) This person has repeatedly deleted the link to the Johnny Weir Fans group because he (or she?) feels that it competes with the Johnny fan club that he belongs to (Rising Star). He has even gone so far as to lie on the discussion page and say the Johnny Weir Fans group is dead and that is why he is deleting it. It is an active club. I keep putting it back up because he keeps deleting it, so clearly Kolindigo is the one engaging in an editing war.

The same goes for the information about the major controversy about Johnny Weir's omission from USFSA's promotional material for 2007 National Championships this year. It was picked up by the media and discussed extensively on figures skating sites, and skating fans bombarded USFSA with letters of protest that resulted in his being added to the website. Clearly, the controversy deserves a mention. It is fact that it happened. Kolindigo is engaging in an editing war by deleting any mention of it over and over again every time it is put up. So why is Kolindigo not stripped of all Wikipedia duties and banned from the site for such poor behavior? Again, unless you are Kolindigo I can see no reason why you are defending this behavior. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.16.74.58 (talkcontribs).

Rebecca Davison

[edit]

Hi, i'm trying to write an article on Cristiano Ronaldo's current girlfriend. You say it should be deleted however there are links to Cristiano's past girlfriends, i.e Jordana Jardel and all she is known for is being the sister of a footballer / Cristiano's alleged ex. I know that Rebecca Davison is shooting her first film and has a novel to be released alongside her already pubslished poetry, so surely if an article on Jordana Jarden is eligable then she should be, if not more. Also, it is also been said that Cristiano is now engaged to Rebecca.

Thanks

Mia —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mia33 (talkcontribs).

Thank you for replying however, I am therefore confused as to why this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordana_Jardel is still up. At least Rebecca Davison is making films and about to have a novel published.

Stockport

[edit]

Hi, thank for the message. The problem with your revision is that the constituencies are talking about the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport as opposed to just Stockport - thus that kind of information is more suitable for the borough page (see Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale and/or Metropolitan Borough of Oldham for example), and avoids confusion between the two entities.

You mention consistency - that's what I was intending to achieve - though I perhaps should've trasferred the info to the borough article. Jhamez84 13:52, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your candor, however everytime Jazz and Jess has been added to wikipedia the reasoning is that it does not fit the criteria of a web comic, however how can it not be a web comic? It is a "comic that is available on the Internet. Exclusively published online for either commercial or artistic reasons." This of course is a para-phrase of the definition of a webcomic on this very website. If it is due to lack of detail then that is purely due to the fact that I am a busy man and cannot make a full blown page in the spare minutes I have during a day.

I apologise if this message comes off as being rude, that is not my intention and I hope this message finds you happy and well. Please reply to me as soon as possible so that we can rectify this situation.

Many thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dante424325 (talkcontribs).

Jazz and Jess (webcomic)

[edit]

Thanks for getting back to me in regard to the Jazz and Jess Wikipedia page.

I have requested on the article for deletion that this page be given more time, this is as we understand the lack of notoriety this page currently has but this wikipedia page is being used so as to a) boost awareness of the page (as it is listed on the on the list of webcomics now) and b) as a reference that we are using when trying to convince sites to advertise the comic.

I will be completely honest with you, I am the writer of the comic, I do not do this for financial gain but purely so I am doing something with writing, an art I love. The comic isn't noticed purely because we do not have th money in which to sell it on other more famous webomic sites and therefore resort to having to visit forums and websites such as "digg it" to namedrop the comic too. This Wikipedia page is part and partial to letting people know what the comic is and where to read it. As it stands we have little other resource until word gets around of the comic. The notoriety will grow purely because there is a wikipedia page for the site, because it is amongst the list of webcomics and then it won't be an issue anymore.

I hope you take this into consideration.

Also I have noticed the new deletion notice state that the page be improved in the process, can you please leand me suggestions on how you think this should be done as I currently have little time to edit the page and neither does the artist.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I hope this message reaches you happy and well.

Kind Regards

Great work

[edit]

Great work on the Reddish article!!! It's looking truly fantastic. It needs some standardisation to the headings and to satisfy some of the finer cosmetic requirements of WP:MOS and UK geography WikiProject, and then I think it could be recommended for becoming an official good article. The referencing is amazing. Jhamez84 23:43, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Thanks for the quick contact! It's mainly minor things I can see, such as unit conversions, Wikilinking, lead standardisation, a tiny amount of gramatical redundancy etc. If you have no objections, I'll take a stab at "recitifying" these issues; they would be cosmetic only, and not compromising the text in any way.
Shaw and Crompton was my pet project which is now GA. I'm keen to see more Greater Manchester articles reaching this standard. Jhamez84 01:14, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a few changes to the article, though it needs a little more to the wording and paragraphing. Some of it I found difficult to follow.
My main concern is the lead section. I don't have local knowledge, but I think it could do with being re-written, acting more as a standalone summary of the wider article (WP:LEAD). I could post a note on the Greater Manchester WikiProject to obtain some interest? Jhamez84 23:31, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester and Greater Manchester maps

[edit]

You recently posted a message on my talk page about a "Manchester" map. I haven't altered or edited any "Manchester" map. I think you've got confused with "Manchester" (the city) and "Greater Manchester" (the county).
I did alter the Image:Greater Manchester outline map with UK.png map which was created by User:Jhamez84 to show Horwich's true position in the "county" - Image:Horwich in Greater Manchester.png. It doesn't matter now. The Coordinates and the red pin are now correct. So that can be forgotten.
I do though find it annoying that Greater Manchester is being treated as an extention of Manchester, and that some are dropping the "Greater" bit of the county's name. It would be like discussing a map of Stafford when they really mean Staffordshire.
I hope you'll remember the difference between county and city. Cwb61 (talk) 22:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
