Hi, you added a dead link tag on Namsang Assembly constituency. The link was (and is) accessible though. I've talked to one other editor who had problems accessing the link outside India. I'm not sure what to do in such a case, which is why i'm wary of removing the tag. Thoughts? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:58, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not able to access the site. If I try from home, it times out. If I try from an AWS instance (in Oregon, USA) it also times out. I also can ping the site to get a response. Where are you located geographically? Do you get a different server than I do?
$ nslookup eci.gov.in
Server: 127.0.0.53
Address: 127.0.0.53#53
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: eci.gov.in
Address: 164.100.229.115

I'm located in India, but I get the same response for nslookup that you do. It's possible that the Indian government has done some shenanigans to make it inaccessible from outside India. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:42, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that's disappointing. Maybe best to mark it with url-access=limited, then? -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:25, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for correcting my mistake. I should, of course, have checked for other uses of the reference, but didn't think to do so. šŸ„“ JBW (talk) 14:44, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

comedy

[edit]

I started a new discussion on Talk:List of highest-grossing comedy films and wondering if you would like to get involved

Thanks for thinking of me! I'm not taking on new projects just now, tho. -- Mikeblas (talk) 23:33, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dazaga reference number

[edit]

what do you mean it is not defined here? I added the new reference number for the new 26th edition. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 18:20, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oop! Sorry, I was going backwards. It's that "e18" is now undefined after your edits, not that "e26" is undefined. I've edited the article to catch up to that. -- Mikeblas (talk) 18:25, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for Kedar(Raga) Revisions answered with suitable references

[edit]

Your wiki edits Request for citation at 23:06 on September 12, 2023 has been attended with suitable reference link on Kedar(Raga) wiki page. Kedar(Raga) in Hindustani Music is equivalent to Hamir Kalyani(Carnatic) raga. You have to understand the fact that there is no wiki page for Raga Hamir Kalyani. Wiki link of this raga points towards Kalyani(Raga) which is equivalent to Yaman(Raga) in Hindustani Music. Interesting point to note here is Kedar(Raga) belongs to Kalyan Thaat(Musical scale) of Hindustani Music. Please refer to Wiki pages of Hameer(Hindustani) and Kedar(Hindustani) to see equivalent ragas. Please read second paragraph of "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hameer wiki page". Everyone will understand what i am talking about. To reduce congestion on wikipedia i have tried to join Kedar and Hamir Kalyani songs in list at one location. This improves understanding of equivalent ragas in both styles and users comfort level in one go. Since there is no wiki page for raga Hamir kalyani i had to place these entries only on Kedar(raga) which is appropriate as Vasant Desai and O P Nayyar followed Kedar musical scale being Hindustani music specialists. In fact all the Hamir Kalyani (carnatic)songs listed on Kedar(Raga) wiki page are somewhat not so authentic, but based on content of Hameer raga wiki page we can accept Hamir Kalyani songs on Kedar wiki page.Hope i tried to make things clear.Thank you for poining towards intricacies of Hindustani and carnatic ragas. Guruleka Etuvanti saint Tyagaraja traditional rendition in Gowrimanohari/Patdeep

[edit]

Your wiki edit request for reference at 19"03 on September 15,2023 was attended. It has become a standard practice in wiki for every one to place equivalent raga compositions in both Carnatic and Hindustani raga versions. Some mention the actual raga name when it is placed under equivalent raga wiki page and many are not. Since your question was appropriate, i had demoted K V Mahadevan song irrespective of his age and its related alphabetical order. His song from film Tyagayya 1981 film was moved down to bottom to distinguish itself from Patdeep compositions.

Guidelines keeping in view of age based alphabetical order of musicians, whether the equivalent raga name should be mentioned beside song or it should be moved away from the lot need to be issued by wikipedia moderators. Thanks again. ā€”Ā Preceding unsigned comment added by DeepakMalhar (talk ā€¢ contribs) 2023-09-15T21:55:01 (UTC)

Wikipedia doesn't have moderators. But I'm curious ... can you tell me where the consensus for that practice was reached? -- Mikeblas (talk) 15:17, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mikeblas, I see you have undone my edit on DJ Zinhle being married to Murdah Bongz and somewhat being involved with the late AKA with the edit summary that reads "Revert unreferenced change; replace deleted references; fix referencing error" even though I cited a source of their marriage under personal life section. Care to explain where I went wrong as I'm here to learn from my mistakes. dxneo (talk) 20:17, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! There are a couple of problems with your edit. One was changing dates for the separation from AKA. That's referenced, and your change doesn't match the reference. The other is that you deleted a reference definition that's used elsewhere in the article, leaving that material newly unreferenced. After removing one reference, changing material to conflict the reference, and adding one useful reference, it sesemed to me that your edit did more damage than good so I reverted it. -- Mikeblas (talk) 20:45, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake, I'm working on finding better or reliable sources mostly on South African articles, as for dates I believe there was an error on DJ Zinhle as it states here that the pair separated on the 30th of December 2019, and for marriage I believe nothing was wrong. I truly meant no harm, would it be wrong or offensive if I reverted your back to what I believe is right for the article? dxneo (talk) 21:11, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should provide references for the changes you'd like to make, and make sure you're not causing referencing errors by deleting in-use references. If you simply revert my change, you'll bring back your own change ... including those errors. -- Mikeblas (talk) 21:19, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, I'll get to it, starting with the dead link. dxneo (talk) 21:21, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun! -- Mikeblas (talk) 21:27, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

nice job on the CBC reference

[edit]

{Russian invasion of Ukraine)

I did indeed accidentally delete that, then got pinged or something as I was putting it back, and fell down a rabbit hole. Nice catch. I was wondering whether you only fix references that are throwing errors, or if you do source verification as well? If so I could use some help on that page and its subpages. Just a thought -- I'd like to encourage you to check some references there. If you don't want to because that is not what you do, then this is of course your call and of course just fine. Cheers. Elinruby (talk) 18:45, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Glad I could help! I mostly monitor the broken reference categories, but look at verification issues from time to time. What verification concerns have you had on the invasion article? Foreign-language sources? -- Mikeblas (talk) 12:47, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
