Bozeman Chronicle
[edit]Montanabw suggested I contact you: I purchased a one-month e-subscription to the Bozeman Chronicle that expires August 24, 2013. I'm basically done using it for what I wanted, so if you or anyone else you know would like to use it to do research (it comes with access to all their archives) on Bozeman- or Gallatin Valley-related articles, lemme know. The clock is ticking! - Tim1965 (talk) 04:20, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
List of arches
[edit]Hi Mike...do we have a list of natural arches that you know of? I thought you may have prepared such a list based on GNIS data.--MONGO 17:52, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
- Never did one for Montana since there are only seven official "arches" in the GNIS dataset for Montana. It appears however that there are many 100s in the US, especially in Utah, Arizona and Colorado. --Mike Cline (talk) 10:17, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Gotcha....hope all is good there...of course it's usually good in Montana.--MONGO 15:32, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Article Feedback Tool update
[edit]Hey Mike Cline. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:44, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
WikiProject Did you knowRound symbols for illustrating comments about the DYK nomination nomination
[edit]Hi Mike, Thanks for all the DYK support! How long do these take to work through the queue? What's the best way to monitor if they pass muster and what day they are posted to DYK? Also, do I put the db-userreq in curly brackets at the top of any userpages in my sandbox that I want deleted? Thanks for you help, McMormor (talk) 13:41, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Mike, it's been two weeks since you were going to get in touch with McMormor about the "Gus" hook. I see that McMormor hasn't been around since the day before you said you'd do this—and sometimes is away from Wikipedia for months at a time—but two weeks is a long time to wait, and the DYK nomination can't be put on hold indefinitely. Is there anything you can do to get it moving again? At the very least, you should post a status report. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:40, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Re: Your requested move for Weltevredenpark
[edit]Thank you for correcting this for me, I will keep that in mind for further reference. I think that the requested moves page is so convoluted that I found it difficult to understand what was going on at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattsan22 (talk • contribs) 16:55, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Mike, it's been over three weeks since the review. The creator hasn't edited since September 6, so we can't wait for him any longer: you'll need to take over if the nomination is to continue. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:11, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
- Mike, an IP just withdrew the nomination. Was that you? I think we need a request under your account to close it properly. (No need to strike everything.) Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:02, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mike. Sorry the nomination didn't work out; Hormay sounds like an interesting guy. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:31, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Montana State University Library
[edit]On 15 October 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Montana State University Library, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that Montana State University Library is home to the 7500-volume Trout and Salmonids Collection of books, periodicals, grey literature with ephemera, and research materials on trout and fly fishing? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Montana State University Library. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. [edit]I'm not sure if I remember, but a year or so ago you gave me some advice at my second RFA about getting into content creation. Since then, I've found that I really enjoy it and have 8 DYK's as well as 3 more pending review and I've really enjoyed learning of the subjects and sharing my interests with others. While, I'm not an administrator and have been far to inactive to even consider being one in the near future, your advice made a content-creator out of me.--SKATER Speak. 17:37, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Dumb question of the year
[edit]Mike...why not be an arbitrator? The committee really could use a mature, extremely neutral and blemish free adult...and you already use your real name so no reason to be worried about being outted. I already figure you don't want to go within a mile of that drama, but that's why you are perfect candidate. Plus if somebody named me in a case, you'd have to recuse!--MONGO 17:29, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Specious Fly Fishing Page
[edit]Take a look for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvereye_Shadow
This qualifies for speedy deletion because of the unambiguous promotion/advertising of a fly apparently dreamt up by the author. In no way should this be linked to from the collapsible section on fly fishing. At present, there's not even such a link to the Adams or Mickey Finn from the main fly fishing article, making the inclusion of this vanity article a patent joke. This fly, if it even exists, is far from notable enough to merit encyclopedic content. Please delete posthaste.
