- BostonMama helped me to post content, and when it was removed, I added the content back. I write blogs for the telecommunications sector of which Telecom Expense Management (TEM) is a major subject. I noticed that there was not much information on this subject in Wikipedia and added content. This is not spammy content and all I did was link the content back to the blog that I wrote. There are also other commercial cites in the Expense Management page, namely Cimpl and Radius Point that link to their websites and blatantly add links to sell their product. So if my content is going to be removed, then you need to also remove other content that is definitely commercial selling! Thank you. Melicoops (talk) 15:24, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
- I find your explanation regarding the content plausible. I don't think the content is encyclopedic and I believe the source for the content would be found lacking if you asked more experienced editors. You should also see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. That being said, I probably will check the articles you mention. Tiderolls 15:26, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Melicoops. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:03, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
Warning: Using Wikipedia for promotional purposes
[edit]Hi Melicoops,
Thank you for joining Wikipedia.
Independently of how you would phrase it, your edits have been promotional in nature. Wikipedia does not allow such advertising.
Normally, users who operate promotion-only accounts are blocked from editing indefinitely, sometimes without prior warning. See Wikipedia:Blocking_policy#Disruption-only for the community's opinion about this type of behavior. However, you seem to be responsive and able to change your behavior without such enforcement.
If you have found promotional content added by other users, feel free to point out specific examples below. Never can such content be used to justify the addition of new similar text.
You are welcome to contribute in ways that are unrelated to yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships. The community portal and the Wikipedia Adventure provide some ideas for doing so.
Best regards

- Thank you! I will post content within the rules in future!
- There are 2 other links that are promotional on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expense_management, they both link to Company websites and have promotional text on the pages.

- Thank you very much, Melicoops, for your understanding and for pointing out this problem. I have now removed these two references, as a minimal first measure (Special:Diff/931441242).
- The article definitely needs more improvement and possibly a complete rewrite, but I'm sure that someone uninvolved will do this sooner or later. There is no deadline, and the community is pretty good at fixing such issues in the long term.
- Best regards
