Question from Gardeningguide (15:01, 2 August 2023)
Hi Melecie! I have a question about adding images from Wikimedia to Wikipedia pages. I noticed some pages I'm on of certain plant species only have a few images of the plant. Is there a general guideline here I can follow when considering expanding this section? Thanks! --Gardeningguide (talk) 15:01, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- hi @Gardeningguide and welcome to Wikipedia! apologies for taking so long to get to your question. see the related section on the Image use policy. a tip: if you add an image, try having it be relevant to the section it's in and not just "oh, here's another picture of [flower]". happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 08:29, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Great thanks for the tips! I'll see what I have in my library that could be added to those relevant sections. :) Gardeningguide (talk) 19:34, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Question from Samuel Abdool (15:22, 4 August 2023)
Hello Mentor, I would like to view information about Dr. Roger Luncheon, from Guyana. --Samuel Abdool (talk) 15:22, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- hi @Samuel Abdool and welcome to Wikipedia! unfortunately, there seems to be no article yet for Dr. Roger Luncheon. if you're up to the task, you're free to create one, however please read Notability for people, Reliable sources, and Your first article first to guide your article writing, then create a draft at Draft:Roger Luncheon (due to the policy on titles in titles, naming it Dr. Roger Luncheon is not really appropriate). happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 03:47, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
Question from WebitorExtra11 (01:19, 8 August 2023)
My phone died in the middle of editing and now my contribution is flagged as potential vandalism. How do I get that tag removed? --WebitorExtra11 (talk) 01:19, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
- WebitorExtra11, edit summaries cannot be changed. In the future, do not add unreferenced defamatory content such as
after Steele was caught using donor funds to take staffers to a California lesbian bondage-themed strip club
. The reference that follows that statement says nothing of the sort, and your addition is therefore a violation of WP:BLP policy. Cullen328 (talk) 01:29, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
Question from Joecompan (10:15, 9 August 2023)
Hey Melecie hope you're doing well,
I was having an issue on this Wikipedia page today when I was citing the electoral results. I was wondering if there was a way to make the citations in the table for aesthetics purposes. I know the page is mostly irrelevant, but it would be a good skill.
Thank you! --Joecompan (talk) 10:15, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Also here was the link to the page sorry!
- Saint Andrew North Eastern - Wikipedia Joecompan (talk) 10:16, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- hi @Joecompan! where in the table do you plan to place in the citations? in the header, or inside one of the cells in the table? 💜 melecie talk - 12:10, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Melecie thanks for responding so fast!
- I was thinking in the header but i'm open to recommendations Joecompan (talk) 12:13, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Joecompan, I've added the citation for you to the title. as you use Visual Editor, I don't think it's possible to move it to the table since it does not provide the source code for the template. however, it can be done by going into source, cutting the full reference, and moving it to the
title
field. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 12:42, 9 August 2023 (UTC)- Oh that makes sense I'll give it a go next time.
- Cheers Joecompan Joecompan (talk) 21:37, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from Sheetal Thomas (08:10, 10 August 2023)
Hi Melecie,
I would like to create an article page for our company, Jumbo Electronics Co. Ltd LLC based in the UAE and established in 1973. We are turning 50 years old and the founder of the company was a well-known Indian businessman. Interviews of both the founder and current chairman, have been published in several notable publications. Is that sufficient criteria for meeting Wikipedia's notability criteria? Can you advise how I go about creating the page? Previous attempts by our SEO agency have failed and I genuinely feel the business qualifies for a page on Wikipedia.
Thanks, Sheetal Thomas --Sheetal Thomas (talk) 08:10, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- hi @Sheetal Thomas and welcome to Wikipedia! writing an article, especially for something you're connected to, is discouraged. please read the Conflict of interest and Paid editing policies before starting. I'm not sure if this is your initiative or someone else told you to do this, but it's best to also read through the essay When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia in that case.
- if you have read and complied with the above Conflict of interest and Paid editing policies and want to proceed anyway, first and foremost: do you have any (ideally at least three good) reliable sources (from reputable news sources or similar places) written by people unconnected to the company (not just press releases, interviews, or any kind of sponsorship) that focus specifically on this company? because otherwise, it will not meet the notability criteria even if it and the founder are famous and you know they meet the criteris (as without the sources to back these claims up, they don't count). get some sources first, then try to write about it using exclusively these sources without anything not mentioned in these sources. Your first article may help in the writing part. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 08:32, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Melecie for the quick response. Much appreciated and much help! There's no compulsion from the business. I handle the brand's communication and genuinely believe it merits a page. Local news media has written about Jumbo for years now, however, the interest has been more around the people heading the business than the business itself. Does that discount or take away, when citing sources?
- Thanks once again for the guidance. Sheetal Thomas (talk) 08:53, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- if that's the case, if the interest is on the people heading the business with just a minor mention that they head the business, it may be the people who merit the article. see the notability criteria for people for this. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 11:34, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
Question from AetherKiller (22:09, 26 August 2023)
Is there a specific way to cite owners manuals for cars? I understand that it may be though the automatic citation manager but I just cited it as a book and filled in the information as best as I could --AetherKiller (talk) 22:09, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- hi @AetherKiller and welcome to Wikipedia! apologies for the late reply. using cite book is probably alright, as it is a book. please note though that when using it, it would count as a primary source as it comes from the manufacturer. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 14:36, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
thank you
Thank you for your feedback on my 'Tea House' question about 'Semantic Web Tags' vs 'Wiki media tags'. I'll be stripping out all the Semantic Tags, and going exclusively with the 'Wiki Media tags'. I also appreciate your supplied help-links, since I'm a beginner. Sincerely Th74 (talk) 00:03, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Website information question...that you responded to...
Hi Melecie! Thank you for responding to my question. Like I mentioned in my last text...I'm a total rookie when it comes to Wikipedia. The short answer to your one answer is that the website that I have contains historical information that I want to create an article about in Wikipedia. I don't want to overstep proper protocol when it comes to rules and such. I don't want to bog you down with questions but would appreciate some guidance. If I give you my e-mail address could I ask a few questions? I understand if you cannot do that because of time. Thanks! Indiefilmpros (talk) 00:45, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- hi @Indiefilmpros! I'd rather Wikipedia-related questions be held on Wikipedia instead of through email. anyway, most websites fall under Self-published sources as anyone can just set up a website and publish it without oversignt from anyone or any rigorous editorial standards apart from oneself. Imd instead suggest to look at where you got the information from: did you get the informstion from a news article covering the subject? perhaps that could be a reliable source. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 00:54, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from Natm76 (23:25, 27 January 2024)
How do I access Wikipedia from other regions. The local Wikipedia does not have the same information of grandfather as those in Europe --Natm76 (talk) 23:25, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- hi @Natm76 and welcome to Wikipedia! what do you mean by "accessing Wikipedia from other regions"? all Wikipedias can be accessed from wherever you are (you don't get redirected to the local Wikipedia based on where you live) and you may access them through List of Wikipedias or the links in the bottom of the Main page.
- if you are referring to how to access all content in your local language Wikipedia, unfortunately other Wikipedias may have less content than the English Wikipedia (and ones for languages with more speakers) as there are less people editing them like with the English Wikipedia (and article creation or translation isn't an automatic process, just because it's in English Wikipedia doesn't mean it's in all Wikipedias). if you want, you can always use browser extensions to translate a page to your local language, although that comes with the issues translation tools have and may be inaccurate. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 06:29, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi! This is the least I could do to thank you for taking up many of the mentorship questions on my talk page while I was away. In hindsight I should have taken myself off once I was petering out, but I didn't and you answered many questions from newbies which would otherwise have gone unanswered. Once again, thank you.
