Our River Nabwizwe :
Nabwizwe one of the rivers in Caprivi and a tributary of the mighty Zambezi river is situated 26km east of Katima Mulilo. The livelihood of the communities of Libula, Saili, Kalimbeza and others depend entirely on this river. It does not dry up but feeds its inhabitants and the surrounding people throughout the year. The river has a diverse of animal’s species such as hippopotamus, crocodiles and many others. Different fish types are found in this river, tiger fish, bubble fish, nembwe , and many others. The surrounding people depend on this water for cooking, washing, bathing, food, like water lily bulb, fish from the river and some small animals, etc. It has been feeding its inhabitant for many centuries. Many people visit the river as a resort.
As the river has dangerous animals in it, many lives have been lost .some children who plays and swim in the river were caught and eaten by crocodiles, some fisherman were killed by hippos and bitten by big snakes, even though, the river still provides the need and wants of the people for their survival.
Come and see the best view of the Nabwizwe river where birds nests and swims all day long and come catch the different fish types and you will be accommodated at MVUVU lodge where you watch the hippos dives. Long live Nabwizwe river.
