Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Norsborg, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eriksberg (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:12, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning user with similar username

[edit]

Hi, I just noticed this user who has popped up Not_Mattg82 and has commented on mostly AfD's - ones that you've also contributed towards. Just a bit of a heads up as they appear to have the hall marks of a sock account. Ajf773 (talk)

How strange, someone has copied and pasted what I have said and created and put “Not” in front of my name. Will look properly later as I’m busy atm Mattg82 (talk) 09:36, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mattg82:

Noting your close as "merge" of your own AfD, I'd recommend updating the talkpage and AfD result to either of speedy keep/nomination withdrawn or nomination withdrawn/speedy keep because, as nom and per WP:INVOLVED, you're not supposed to close your own AfD as anything other than that. I'm not opposed to the merge—it seems reasonable, but should've been done boldly outside of AfD if you wanted to withdraw it early. Otherwise, let a non-involved editor close as "merge".

Cheers,
--Doug Mehus T·C 02:34, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, though I will say that I have merged it rather than just closed the AFD. WP:INVOLVED seems to be for any potential admin COI but I understand your point of closing AFDs in one's own favour but that that is not the case here is it? And whether it should be closed as speedy keep rather than merge seems to be splitting hairs. Mattg82 (talk) 17:06, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mattg82, Maybe, but some might question the rationale for a bold merge if it was, rightly, a "speedy keep." I personally think this should've been merged, so am personally not too concerned, but just sort of an FYI for the future. Technically, it probably could be a "speedy merge"/"nomination withdrawn" except "speedy" withdrawals only count where there has been no other differing votes. Bearian had !voted "delete," so it could technically be overturned at DRV. I don't think Bearian would take the close to DRV, but just something to think of. There's been a spate of WP:BADNAC closures overturned at DRV recently. Doug Mehus T·C 20:05, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok noted. Mattg82 (talk) 21:12, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

request for posting to announce your group effort

[edit]

hi. I am writing to ask for your help with my new idea for a community forum. could you please draft a notice for editors to help put at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Unreferenced_articles, which you referred to in your recent comment at WP:Village Pump, so that we could post at the new user:Sm8900/community forum, if that's okay?

I am looking for editor events and group projects that I could post to post there, in order to get things rolling., my new approach to this is to approach editors individually, and request input and items from that we can post there, in order to get things rolling, and provide some content to show what we are trying to do. could you please let me know if that sounds okay to you? I really appreciate it. thanks!! --Sm8900 (talk) 14:23, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:24, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
