Mascarbone, you are invited to the Teahouse!
[edit]Hi Mascarbone! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. We hope to see you there!

Welcome!
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Simplified Manual of Style
- Task Center – need some ideas of what kind of things need doing? Go here.
Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! — Diannaa (talk) 15:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Kenya into History of Kenya. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 13:13, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Paper9oll. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to History of Estonia—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 🧾) 12:24, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Politics of the Republic of China, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Firestar464 (talk) 04:52, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 2
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited History of Guyana, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Granger. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:07, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please be careful with adding bare URLs to articles, as they are prone to link rot. Best regards! NoonIcarus (talk) 17:37, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Please provide attribution in your edit summary when copying from one page to another
[edit]A few months ago, Diannaa notified you about how you must provide attribution in the edit summary or in a null edit that you copied text from another article. In this edit, you copied text from Ghana and didn't provide attribution. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia for more information. Please note if you continue to not respect copyrights you may be blocked from editing. — Berrely • Talk∕Contribs 11:48, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Mascarbone! Your additions to History of Iraq have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:24, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Your edit to Censorship in Ecuador, Ecuador, Guinea-Bissau, and Brazil–Mexico relations have been removed in whole or in part, as it appears you added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — Diannaa (talk) 13:06, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for identifying the source of the material in your edit.
This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.
I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors. S Philbrick(Talk) 21:48, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Weird linkage
[edit]M, in 3 different edits, you used the link, piped through a miscapitalied redirect, [[2022 russian invasion of ukraine|2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine]]. Why? Why not just link 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine directly? I fixed them. Dicklyon (talk) 05:20, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hey! I saw that you recently edited Iran's page with the Iranian attack on Israel. There are major problems with that and it doesn't include some very important info. Please change it to this so users know the full context:
"On 13 April 2024, the Iranian Armed Forces launched a major retaliatory attack on Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights with UAVs, cruise and ballistic missiles. The attack was in response to the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus. Several countries in the West Asia closed their airspaces a few hours before Iran launched its standoff attack. The American, British, and Jordanian air forces and navy helped Israel to shoot down the Iranian drones, while France, which intervened at the request of Jordan, deployed its navy to provide radar coverage. At least nine missiles had struck two Israeli air bases, namely the Nevatim and Ramon. The attack caused Israel spending over $1.3 billion overnight to defend against the strikes. Although the attack didn't include casualties and was intended to saturate the anti-missile defences, it was the biggest ever drone strike in the world, the biggest missile attack in Iranian history, and its first ever direct attack on Israel. It was also the first time since 1991 that Israel itself was attacked by a state force."
