User talk:Legendary Link
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Lorincomputers.com. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Exploding Boy (talk) 04:30, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Lorincomputers.com. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. 206.116.63.240 (talk) 04:55, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Exploding Boy (talk) 04:54, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you use Wikipedia for advertising, as you did with Lorin Computers, you will be blocked from editing. 206.116.63.240 (talk) 05:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Response
[edit]There are two problems with that article. The company does not appear to be particularly notable; please review WP:NOTE for more information on this. Second, you appear to be involved with the company, judging by your user name. Please review our policy on conflict of interest. The bottom line is, if the company is notable and important, someone will write an article on it. I would suggest you get some experience contributing to other articles. In the meantime, if you feel the company meets our notability requirements, you could try listing it on Wikipedia:Requested articles. Exploding Boy (talk) 05:08, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: it is too closely connected to the company you are writing about - ie it is promotional in nature.. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Kevin (talk) 05:17, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 05:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.
You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.-- Alexf42 12:55, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- The username you have selected cannot have an underscore in it. Is it OK if the underscore is a space? Kevin (talk) 22:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
