Notice

The file File:Leonard-Mlodinow-photo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I re-submitted the page for your review. Many thanks. Also, it looks like the company has shortened it's name from "Barry's Bootcamp" to simply "Barry's". I tried to edit the page name to reflect this change and keep everything accurate, but it is not letting me. Can you please let me know how to do this? Again, thanks.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Barry's Bootcamp, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Joey Gonzalez moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Joey Gonzalez, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GPL93 (talk) 18:56, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey GPL93, thanks for your quick review. Happy to make the necessary edits. I'll go back out and find some more sources. Can you please let me know if there are one or more examples of sentences in the draft that are not sufficiently cited? Is it the content of the draft that is more of an issue, or the authority of the citations? Many thanks. Djb2183 (talk) 19:40, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Djb2183. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Joey Gonzalez, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GPL93 (talk) 18:57, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not edit in relation to Barry's Bootcamp again until you have disclosed you conflict of interest. Best, GPL93 (talk) 19:00, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, I will not edit the article any further per your instructions, but please understand that I have no relation to this company. From the reports I read, the company is valued at almost 3/4 of a billion dollars and did not have a Wikipedia page, so I created one. Please let me know what I can do to fix this. Thank you. Djb2183 (talk) 19:42, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If that is the case then I apologize. Your editing pattern regarding Barry's has been consistent with what many COI editors. I do agree with you that Barry's is probably a notable corporation, but being the CEO of a notable corporation is a shoe in for notability. Of the current sources used in the draft, only one (Men's Health) is a reliable source and even then it reads like a paid piece but it could also just be a pitched story. To boil it down, the easiest way to prove notability is to use as many sources from major news and media outlets as possible. Also keep in mind that the nature of the coverage received has to be significant, not mentions in passing or quick quotes. If you can find more coverage like that then I recommend submitting the draft and seeing what feedback you get. Best, GPL93 (talk) 21:40, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for this advice. Much appreciated. I think sometimes it's just difficult to tell when an article is not deemed reliable. For example, I cited articles from publications like Entrepreneur and Fast Company and a Los Angeles-based LGBT publication. Is it simply that the articles are not written in a way that they can be deemed authoritative? Sorry for all the questions--I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Many thanks.Djb2183 (talk) 13:36, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's more the reach and reputation of the outlet and the type of coverage (for instance while Entrepreneur is a reliable source, Interviews and appearances on podcasts are generally not counted towards notability). Also, it's not that it you have to leave these sources out entirely. I use non-notability sources all the time to support details within an article after notability is established. Best, GPL93 (talk) 14:02, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, got it, super helpful. Many thanks. I will find new sources to support the article and re-submit. Hope you're staying safe.Djb2183 (talk) 14:04, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
