College Football Playoff image
[edit]Greetings! The image currently in the College Football Playoff article, File:College Football Playoff Logo.png, is a non-free image based on a USA Today news story. As a result, it is the most representative image we have of the logo.
I see you uploaded an image to Commons but claimed it as your own work. There are two potential problems with this:
- If it is truly your own work, it is likely an infringement of the Playoff's copyright on the logo.
- If it is the work of the organization, there may be a license issue. If the Playoff releases the image under a free license, then the image may be freely reused, including commercial reuse. This is probably not their intent.
Further, since the image is non-free, we prefer a lower resolution image rather than higher resolution: it provides a technical hurdle to anybody attempting to reuse a non-free image.
Image rules are confusing, so feel free to ask for help. —C.Fred (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
- How do I delete the image I uploaded into Wiki Commons? I submitted a request to have it deleted but it is not down..
- The request has to be handled by a (human) administrator; there may be a delay until they process the request. —C.Fred (talk) 21:30, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Fred, really new to Wikipedia ... I work in communications for the College Football Playoff and need help getting our company logo updated. If you go to our website (www.collegefootballplayoff.com), you'll notice that the font has been tweaked slightly. Any chance you can help me get the correct logo in place of the one currently on the site? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.40.118.210 (talk) 21:49, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
