Question / Reflection
[edit]I like the idea of this, and how it sounds, but I'm afraid that because of the size of it, there won't be much access to the games to write up reviews. I mean, I know the Wiki is *filled* with people from all across the world, but 650 games is still quite a lot for people to find a way to watch, type up a review, and post it. I think it'd be a huge stretch for teams with lower coefficients due to lack of marketing and publicity, as compared to teams who are constantly on TV worldwide like Manchester, Milan, Barcelona, etc. I feel as if teams from, say, Romania or San Marino or other small nations will have a hard time getting coverage. What's your plan to find people who have / would have access to their competitions, or else is there a way you know of that people can gain access to their games, without needing to look at already published reviews of their matches? Otherwise, I love the idea, as it can be that little push to get a smaller team, and its association as a whole, noticed. --Snojoe (talk) 08:10, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- The 650 includes Qualifying games for Champions League and uefa cup and Intertoto Cup. I haven't included any doemstic competitions. Adding the Bundesliga would add over 300 articles. The 650 games would be from June 2008 to May 2009 for next season. I think if we can get at least 12 people writing, then I think it'll be on. Kingjeff (talk) 14:59, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- For smaller games we can have the match facts at least. They're always available from UEFA. If we can't get enough good quality sources to make a simple, neutral match review then the wikinews article will reference sources anyway so people can follow the links if they want to know more. I think it's a great idea. Aheyfromhome (talk) 16:24, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- For english speaking countries, we could go to local newspapers and team websites. Kingjeff (talk) 20:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, Aheyfromhome was getting what I was saying, I didn't mean domestic competitions, I meant qualifying games involving clubs from (using the above examples) Romania or San Marino, since there would be minimal access to those games on TV outside of the nation(s) involved, it'd be awful difficult to write a review without using the UEFA's match report, which I thought were already neutral as it were. --Snojoe (talk) 04:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales shouldn't be a problem with english websites. Use the news option on Google or Yahoo and see what you get. Kingjeff (talk) 04:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
