Confused
[edit]All I'm trying to add to the West Point Band page is bio info on one of our performing groups. I am a member of the ensemble and it is simply a bio describing the group. What do you suggest I do to have this info included? i don't understand why it keeps getting removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rjny19 (talk • contribs) 22:08, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Rjny19 Sorry for any unwanted confusion. Wikipedia is a place for cold, hard facts, with even colder references and citations. Opinions, such as the one you posted, are not allowed on Wikipedia, and are classified as un-encyclopedic content. If you would like, I could work with you to create a factual biography of the band, bereft of any opinions. k_scheik (talk) 22:50, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Imitation Game
[edit]Hi K scheik, thanks for your message. There is a bit of history to the editing on the article which is why I was being so careful with the wording. My view would be that there have been quite a few editors on the page who are interested in the real Alan Turing rather than the movie, hence the quite long "historical inaccuracies" section on the article. So the edit as it was introduces the movie as "about" Alan Turing and the use of that word "about" was actually the subject of a rather lengthy discussion on the talk page of the article, but the consensus seems to be that he is the main character of the film, and the film covers three different periods of his life, therefore it is accurate to say the movie is "about" him. The sentence then gives a brief description of who Alan Turing was, without saying whether or not the movie is then about those particular details of his life. Your change says that the movie is about particular aspects of his life, which while I might agree with, does make it a little more contentious (there are some who would argue that the movie's depiction of his work on Enigma is so inaccurate that it is not "about" what he actually did at all). I hope that makes some sense? If you feel strongly about the change you're suggesting, you should go to the talk page and see if you can get consensus for it. BTW, I agree it can be hard not to sound condescending when you are discussing these things, but just assume that everyone else is working in good faith and you should be fine! You should also sign your message when you comment on someone's talk page (or the talk page of an article) using four tildes (~). Thanks Melcous (talk) 06:36, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

It's true that the owner of Apple cars did not have Steve Jobs's business acumen.
[edit]The remark on Apple (automobile) was the truth when it mentioned that the owner of the short-lived auto company did not have the business acumen that Steve Jobs possessed.
It's hard to believe that *truths* are still reverted. Reversions are supposed to be for lies and patent nonsense. If the owner of the original car company had the amount of business sense that Mr. Jobs possessed, it would survive for as long as its electronic spiritual descendent has, if not longer. --2602:306:B8A5:26B0:D8BB:C160:6001:B63B (talk) 18:39, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback, but there were a few things that I thought you should know. 1) You didn't erase the header, which leaves an odd looking article, since you blanked the entire section. 2) you did not provide a reason as to why you were blanking the section. Due to this, I felt that it was okay to revert. Thank you for your time. k_scheik (talk) 23:30, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry. Well the same applies, but to the anon that edited in the first place. I would appreciate if you didn't use a condescending tone, as this isn't a remarkably huge ordeal to fix. k_scheik (talk) 23:37, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- Don Yute - It is fixed now - no thanks to you - please take your time in future - not to replace false details - Govindaharihari (talk) 23:42, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? Upon close inspection, I was irrefutably in the right. Someone deleted an entire section to get rid of one piece of vandalism, without an explanation, and didn't clean up the article afterwards. Since I was erasing vandalism via Recent Changes, I didn't take the time to read the entire section. However, the edit was hastily done, and the person who performed it obviously didn't read the whole article either! If you see something like that, you don't need to tell me "Don't screw up next time" because, as I expect you may need help figuring out, is somewhat obvious. You can simply revert the change with the very conveniently blue highlighted (undo) button. You can then provide a detail as to why it was needed, which I would then get a notification about, and thank you on your talk page. Instead, you decided to come onto my talk page with a very condescending tone, and insult me. Why were you taking the time to write all this, if you could have undone my edit with one. damn. click. k_scheik (talk) 23:55, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! John from Idegon (talk) 02:24, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I have just gotten STiki permission rights and was still exploring its functionality and features. I will set aside some time to fully examine what I am able to do with STiki.
- The lack of edit summary was of much less concern than restoring the glaring BLP violation. Just an FYI, most experienced editors watchlist the talk pages they write on so leaving a talkback template is usually not necessary. Also, don't forget to sign your messages even on your own talk. I am always willing to help new editors so if I can be of service, drop me a note on my talk. I primarily edit school and place articles, but I've done my share at both AfD and AfC too. vandalism?
[edit]Understanding that publicly shaming another is tantamount to homicide, I came back to remove some facts I had posted about a US Federal Judge's rulings. Now, I am not sure a public official, especially a criminal court judge, equates to a person but in any case I wanted to remove the ugly facts I had posted out of self shame.
However you had erased my comments very shortly after they were posted tagging them as vandalism. So, no need for me to do anything other than contemplate your claim. Vandalism is an action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property. So, by YOUR understanding of vandalism, would you censor or erase the worldwide news media? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stndip (talk • contribs) 16:02, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for the feedback. The reason I undid your edit [1] was because they appeared to be opinions, and not suitable for Wikipedia, or in this case unencyclopedic content. You should always try to use a neutral point of view. Just so you know, they were classified as good faith, or well-meaning edits, not vandalism. Remember to sign your posts with 4 tildes (~). k_scheik (talk) 16:16, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
OK still learning how to use Wikipedia. Thanks for the help. As for opinion, I think the text read something like "infamous for" then included a link to NYT, with readership of nearly 2,000,000 people / day. Other than that article, this guys name is next to unknown therefore infamous is accurate and not opinion, right? Anyways, Let G-d judge than man. It's not my place to punish him. That's up to G-d and/or Luis.Stndip (talk) 16:43, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Ron
- You can indent your message to indicate reply by using the semicolon, you can use multiple to reply to a reply. Enroll in the Counter-Vandalism Unit(CVU) academy to learn more. You could simply add the NYT article to the further reading section, or add one if it doesn't exist. No need to write anything, or cite it anywhere. Don't simply add it to the references, because it wont work if it's not cited somewhere. k_scheik (talk) 17:18, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Removal of RfP

@EoRdE6:One of the decline formats for Rollback requests basically says that "you already have a request, why don't you figure that one out first", at the same time, and the reviewer one didn't have the templates, so I assumed the same applied. k_scheik (talk) 01:52, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Explaination for the best selling girl groups list
[edit]Hi K scheik,
I changed the information for 2NE1 because the number of digital downloads were false and the article from Forbes US was misunderstood, they are talking about 'I Am The Best' when they say that the song moved (from 3,467,674 in 2011, source ---> GAON Charts) to 4,5 millions copies sold during 2012, not 'I Don't Care', the article says « the group has sold 27 million digital downloads to date, including the single I Am the Best [sic], which moved 4.5 million units and won Song of the Year honors at Asia’s Mnet Awards », so i think my contribution to this list was constructive since there is a source for what i changed. The sales for I Don't Care / Fire and other songs from 2009 aren't available so what is written for 2009 on this list of best selling girl groups is speculation.
And sorry for checking your message just right now ^^. And also sorry for my broken english it's not my native langage, hope you understand what i've writed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Newser Boy (talk • contribs) 15:26, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Please be mindful that there is a consensus in place on the Sellers talk page which prohibits the use of a collapsed infobox. Cheers. CassiantoTalk 00:12, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- I saw this argument after I looked deeper into the issue however, the "consensus" you linked me to was, in fact, not a consensus at all. The only consensus that has been reached was that the article should have an infobox. I have read over the various arguments and have discovered no consensus of whether or not the infobox should be collapsed. Also, your message appears to convey that my edit (getting rid of the collapsed userbox) was correct, yet you reverted it, leading me to believe that you simply goofed up your message and conveyed the opposite. I believe that every Wikipedia article can be improved by anyone, so saying that the main contributors to the article have any more power in making decisions seems nonsensical to me. If I don't receive some response to this within the next 72 hours, I'll reinstate my edit (to prevent edit warring) via revert so you get notified. — k_scheik talk to me! 19:47, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- How you think threatening to mindlessly edit war just to force your personal preference onto something is a beneficial and constructive step to take I shell not even bother to guess. The collapsed box has been there for a while, giving it an ipso facto consensus, so if you wish to change that consensus, you need to discuss on the talk page, not edit war. The consensus on the talk page to include the IB saw the box returned to the exact same state it was prior to the discussion: i.e. in the collapsed state. It has therefore been there a while, and was the consensus to keep all sides happy between having a pointless turd in the top corner of the article, and not having one. You try and edit war again to force your opinion, and you'll be reverted. - SchroCat (talk) 20:38, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- What? I edited once, and once it was reverted, I did not edit again. I instead brought it to talk page discussion, where it belongs. Just so you know, this is the goddamn talk page discussion, which if you want, you can move to the article talk page, where this belongs. I did not start this thread, nor do I condone this, but if you can give me any legitimate argument besides "It's been there for a while, might as well not improve it", I will gladly give up. However, the fact remains that you have reverted countless edits all trying to get rid of the collapsed userbox, all of these edits have been performed because it's utterly nonsensical. Next time you decide to come to my goddamn talk page with a BS argument and an attitude, I might get actually annoyed. — k_scheik talk to me! 21:11, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Don't get prissy: it only reflects on you, not anyone else. I've provided you with the reason the collapsible box was there, and if you are uncivil enough to sweep away the long-standing consensus by arrogantly calling other people's thoughts and opinions as "BS", then that speaks volumes more about you than anyone else, which is sad. Try not to pop a "goddam" vein. - SchroCat (talk) 21:29, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for absolutely nothing, prick. While I could verbally berate you, I won't, because I am a very good debater. Now, let's take a look at your argument, shall we?
The collapsed box has been there for a while, giving it an ISO facto consensus,
There it is. I assume you're referring to an Ipso Facto consensus. Shall I point out a few holes? [2][3][4][5] Those are all edits by different users, all trying to get rid of that inconvenience. That in itself should have prompted any Wikipedia editor to launch a discussion. Also, you are doing consensus wrong. [6] Here is a very nice diagram that explains consensus in a nutshell. So instead of just saying "As per talk page consensus." You should say: "Create talk page discussion to change consensus." That is what I say whenever I am presented with this issue as that is how it is handled. See what I mean? You don't just shoot down ideas, you embrace them and then agree and disagree with them and debate accordingly. — k_scheik talk to me! 21:51, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- "Prick"? Are you 12 or 13? - SchroCat (talk) 21:58, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- I suggest we walk away SchroCat and let this nonentity argue with himself. Being called a "prick" suggests we are taking to a troll. CassiantoTalk 22:27, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- While you may be content to ignore others opinions, I value my own opinions very highly. However, the fact remains that you have yet to bring up any argument that I have not refuted, while you have not refuted any of my arguments. I am taking this as an invitation to start a formal discussion on the article's talk page since nothing here seems to be sticking. — k_scheik talk to me! 09:54, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Adopt-a-user - please check your details
[edit]Hello, I have been doing a cleanup of the ‘Adopter’ information page for the Adopt-a-user Project, located here. During my cleanup, I've removed several long-inactive and retired users, leaving just the most recently active ones, whether they're currently available (14 users) or not currently available (24 users).
In order to provide potential adoptees with an easy location to find people, the Adopter's page needs to be up-to-date with the latest availability information. Thus:
- If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, even in the future, please remove yourself from the list, and delete any
{{adopting}}
templates from your user pages. - If you are still interested, but not currently available, please check the list to see if your details needs to be updated - especially with regards availability. (A dummy edit would show me you’ve checked and are OK with what’s currently there.)
- Feel free to add a line at the bottom of your entry to show how many adoptees you’ve previously helped. I’m sure that would be of interest to newcomers, especially when you do return.
- I have also cleaned out nearly 100 inactive editors still flagged as seeking adoption. That leaves just 18 people currently interested in being adopted.
- If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, even in the future, please remove yourself from the list, and delete any
You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here, but have made relatively few edits over the last year or so.
Finally, as an editor with previous experience of adoption (unlike myself!), you might wish to respond to the (admittedly long) comments I've made here about how I think the project could be improved and got working again. I've also 'been bold' and tweaked the project pages a wee bit. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:49, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
[edit]Hello, K scheik. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Removal from adopter list
[edit]Hello user K scheik,
I'm user Hundsrose and I wanted to let you know that I removed you from the adopter list because you haven't been active for at least one month. When you come back to Wikipedia and want to be an adopter again, feel free to add your name again. Your description was:
{{Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adopter Profile |username=K scheik |description=Hey. I'm a young'n (well, relatively), so I may be able to help inexperienced young people (14+) more effectively than others (25+). I have plenty of knowledge on Twinkle, STiki, and can accept a total of 2 users to adopt. I have an impressive knowledge of WikiGnome (or small, seemingly random) activities. Leave me a note on my Talk page if you want me to adopt. I retain the right to deny certain users, but not ''you'' though. [[User:K scheik|k_scheik]] ([[User talk:K scheik|talk]]) |image= |available=no |mentor=yes |adoptees= |bot-updated=yes}}
If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
Kind regards --Hundsrose (talk) 20:40, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Reverted Removal from adopter list
[edit]The change has been reverted, so that the adopters can decide on their own if they want to stay in the list. Please let me know in case you want to be removed. Best regards --Hundsrose (talk) 21:42, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:The Asian American Foundation
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:The Asian American Foundation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Celestina007 (talk) 00:24, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
