ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:16, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Would you be willing to take the time and have a look at this draft? It had been pending review for over 3 months before it was declined yesterday, but I'm concerned that the two reviewers who've taken a look so far aren't 100% clear on notability criteria for academics, so I'd feel more comfortable getting an opinion from a reviewer with a track record in academia (especially computer engineering) like yourself. The pending review backlog also hasn't looked like diminishing significantly for months. Davykamanzitalkcontribsalter ego 12:54, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since he is an industrialist rather than an academic, you probably need general notability guidelines under WP:BIO, especially WP:BASIC. Articles specifically on him (e.g., with his name in the title) in reliable publications (e.g., a national newspaper or magazine) would help. If there are none yet, perhaps best to save the article until there are some. I hope this helps and good luck! —Jonathan Bowen (talk) 13:28, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Hinksey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Interesting though it is, I haven't been able to find any sources that would indicate this place name is individually notable (though of course the several places bearing the name are likely to be). I can't access the Gelling chapter cited, but the entry in the Dictionary of British Place-Names is very brief and deals with North Hinksey and South Hinksey rather than the name itself. As far as I can tell there's no scope for a disambiguation page here as all the various Hinkseys would be partial title matches.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
