Copyright
[edit]Hi Joshua. I have, with some regret, found it necessary to revert all of your addition to Esh, County Durham. Whilst your work in adding sources is to be commended, every time I checked one I found that you had either copied the text directly or closely paraphrased it, changing only a word or two. Because Wikipedia content is covered by a CC-BY-SA Creative Commons licence, our text must be released under the same terms - basically, you can use your own words to describe what the sources say, but you cannot copy or closely paraphrase their text unless they are free from copyright. There's more information on this at this page. I'm sorry to have had to revert you like this; I know from personal experience how time consuming it can be to track down sources. However, copyright is a legal issue, and we therefore have to be exceedingly careful about reproducing pre-existing content. Feel free to contact me on my talkpage if you want to discuss this further. Yunshui 雲水 19:40, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Your addition to File:The Cross Keys, Esh.jpg has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Fut.Perf. ☼ 20:46, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:04, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
